Alexander Misera was a little depressed as he strolled through the Gardens of the Southgate Park in Magnolia, a little depressed that his first foray into the wilds of this country had ended in such spectacular failure. Not that you'd know it from his face of course, as he walked he smiled with such enthusiasm and intensity that people who passed by found themselves smiling as well, sharing in the joy that they perceived was coming from this teenager with the enormous grin on his face and the koto in his hands. Indeed, to add to the lack of air of depression and sadness around him Alexander had his instrument un-'sheathed' as it were and was playing a happy little melody with trilling runs and bright happy notes, creating an air of light-heartedness and ease. Maybe he was overcompensating to some degree but frankly he didn't care, sometimes just playing music was enough. But it wasn't today, sadly, today it was not enough. Considering how packed this part of the world was -compared to the East Forest that he had just come from- Alexander had high hopes that today would be the day he would finally find the person he was seeking, but then again he had had high hopes the day he had set out on his journey and it had been some time since that day, and he was without luck so far. The East Forest had such promise to it as well, it was mysterious enough that people came there from near and far to explore its depths but it was also known enough that it was not too dangerous if one was careful. Coupled with the unique magic that had been happening in those woods at the time it had been a good lead for the teenager but alas it was not to be. So he had followed the natural progression of the land to the Southgate Park deeper into the borders of the place known as Magnolia proper, a nice little park with nice enough people walking through its borders. "Maybe I should just kill everyone here," Alexander found himself thinking, his ever-present smile plastered across his face as women with strollers and couples arm-in-arm passed by him and smiled back at both his smile and the music he was playing to add to the atmosphere in this place, "That would draw them out... right? Maybe if I caused a big enough fuss they would come and find me?" But he did not of course, he was too weak to begin doing something like that. No, he eventually found a little bench near the center of the park and he sat himself down, continuing to play his music and continuing to smile all the while, eyes closed and thoughts drifting wherever he let them... |

Relyk had made it into magnolia after what seemed like forever. Perhaps it was quite odd that the Dragon Slayer would be returning to this dreadful city, though he did have things to do. His apartment had always been kept in secrecy from Fairy Tail, just in case he found himself questioning his allegiance. He still had belongings to collect, some items which were of high importance. With a low hum, he entered the South Gate park. The man was wearing a long brown leather trench coat, though the material itself was very thin, so that it allowed for hot temperatures. A brown hat, and a pair brown boots were also worn as the Wizard made his way further into the park. Relyk had been wearing a pair of dark blue jeans, with a loose white silk button up. The fabric was very light, and had a wavy texture. His clothing seemed to dance around the wind as it flew by. The man even had an odd strap fastened to his back, though it's own necessity was unknown. With him, was his companion Lite. The small fox was enjoying the beautiful day as he strode down the pathway, tail wagging. Relyk's ears would soon perk up as he spotted a nearby kid walking closer. The boy was creating some type of music, though being the cynical man he was, he only found himself tilting his head in response to the music. Lite was going ecstatic, yelping excitedly however. So as Relyk came closer, he would simply stop. Alexander didn't seem to be paying attention, his eyes closed. Something else that was quite odd, was that the kid had an eerie smile on his face. Though, he did this WHILE playing an instrument. That was mysterious in it's own right, but Relyk wasn't going to let himself loose his train of thought due to this. "Hey, you.." Relyk shouted, hands falling to his hips as his eyes narrowed on the youth. He leant forward, head tilted slightly to the right as he inspected the teenager. Meanwhile, Lite had also come to a complete stop, his tail still wagging however. Meanwhile, the birds continued singing in harmony to the boy's own music, and some of the citizens walking actually found themselves nodding their head to the music. Almost everyone in the vicinity had a smile equipped, except Relyk. And I guess technically Lite, since he's an animal. I mean, have you ever seen a fox smile? They kinda can't. The sun was just now at it's peak, offering warm rays to those who chose not to hide under the shade. There was also a slight breeze, which continuously offered it's presence, toying with Relyk's hair. Relyk honestly enjoyed the feel of the sun, basking in the rays. Though, despite this Relyk made damn sure to not take his eyes off of Alexander. He would just remain in the same location, standing in front of the teen as he made his way down the street. First and foremost, Alexander was enjoying his time playing his music, bringing joy to those people around him. But above all it was bringing joy and happiness to himself, as he was making other people feel positively towards him for being the kind of person who was making them excited. Essentially, by making other people happy, Alexander was making himself happy - they associated him now with positive feelings, and as a result he was in the clear whenever these people would see him in the near future. Of course since he had his eyes closed -and his smile wide- he wasn't seeing the people he was making happy, but that wasn't important. He had intentions to hang around Magnolia for a few more days after all, he wanted to see if his target was here. It wasn't long after that that he finally had someone come up to him directly and spoke to him. Unfortunately the person only came up and said, in a tone that was definitely rude, some kind of ambiguous greeting that was easily mistaken for an accusation, as though Alexander was doing something wrong. If he had been approached by the only plebian in this entire damn park that disliked his music then he would be pissed. Opening one eye he looked up from his seated position at the young adult standing over him with bright blonde hair and a serious expression. Alexander didn't react at all, he simply kept playing his instrument and kept smiling, but then again the man would notice that no matter what happened, ever, Alexander would always smile. "Hey, you?" he asked in an amused tone, as though not really believing what he had heard, "What a strange way to greet someone who is doing nothing but trying to add a little bit of atmosphere and life to this environment. How incredibly rude in fact, the idea that you might greet a stranger like that is a little distasteful. Maybe try a new greeting, yeah? If you object to the music you can always suggest a new tune, though your fox seems to be enjoying it." And with that he gave a small laugh then closed his eyes and continued to play, his smile bright and amused. Internally he was contemplating maybe throwing his knife at this man, just to see how he'd react. Very likely he would react badl and since Alexander really wasn't the most effective fighter in any way shape or form he'd rather avoid a fight. Especially since he just wanted to play his music. |

Relyk looked down to Lite, noticing his fox's delight in the music. Though this was just now being brought to his attention, the mage would turn back to the boy who seemed to be a tad bit of a smart ass. "That isn't like Lite. Could this be some type of mood alteration caused by magic? Or no.. perhaps it's just his endorphin's being raised by the result of the music in itself?" Relyk lifted his hand to his chin, listing his options out in a well articulated argument. There was still too much he didn't know, after all.. you can't solve a problem without knowing the value of X. Meanwhile, something odd was starting to take place at the edge of the park. A large crowd had gathered, and the source of the chaos was somewhat unknown to any onlookers. A loud chanting commenced, following the gathering. Soon, the chanting picked up in strength, becoming very loud. Relyk was just about to continue on, questioning the youth once more. . . only to have his attention torn away. The noise was starting to become so loud, that it actually flooded out the teen's music. With the intervention of the noise, the fox's actions would soon settle. Relyk turned, only looking back once or twice to Alexander. With the snap of his fingers, he would order Lite to follow. "Have at it.." Relyk said, noticing that the boy seemed annoyed. It wasn't his place anyhow to bother someone that was simply just playing music. Though he would be getting to the bottom of this freak side show. As he made his way towards the mob of people, he would hesitate. There...were a lot of people here. Maybe.. two to three thousand at least. This was going to be a challenge just to even get to the center of the commotion. Relyk would crouch down, opening his trench coat. The small fox took the hint, and hopped into a small pocket on his left side. Now the Dragon Slayer wouldn't have to worry about losing his friend. With a sigh, he would crack his neck, proceeding into the midst of the chaos. He forcefully pushed people aside, wading deeper and deeper into the mess. He could barely think. In the center of the crowd, stood at least five men. Each of them wearing long robes, though the color being the only difference in attire. The colors of the robes varied from: blue, red, green, yellow, and purple. Finding himself at the forefront of the crowd, the slayer would raise his brow. The men stood there, not moving once. Their hoods were drawn over their features, though something odd was happening that seemed to be of their control. The robes weren't the only thing that was visually entrancing. There were also five orbs, each one mimicking the color of their master's robes. They hoovered quietly, moving around in a 360 degree radius. The balls seemed to be exerting an unknown barrier, which prevented anyone from actually getting to close. Yet at the same time, it seemed to give people the want to move closer. It was somewhat of an odd magic, if it really was magic. Though it could have also been a technology. "Interesting.. " Relyk thought, as he attempted to move closer. He would be pushed back by the barrier, though it seemed to be somewhat flexible in touch. The shield quivered slightly, revealing it's appearance for what felt like a few seconds at most. The shield was also in the shape of a sphere, and it was a dull blue. It was at this time, that the five men looked up, noticing the disturbance in the shield. Despite the fact that Relyk was behind them, they instantly knew his location, and to top it off.. his magical capabilities. They didn't make eye contact, but they did stare at his location, all turning their heads in perfect unison. Relyk stepped back a bit, somewhat creeped out by the anomaly. |

Alexander was quiet after he had spoken to the strange man before him, closing his eyes once more and continuing to play his music. It had been such a nice feeling, sitting there and strumming along with the ability to soothe everyone simply through simple psychology and he enjoyed his time there, smiling and playing his soft melodies. It was not for any particular reason he was here on this day, any more than he was anywhere on any particular day - he was, as always, looking for someone and until he found them he would continue to wander and walk and explore however he liked without a real care in the world. It was such a simple existence, a painful one but simple, and he enjoyed himself as much as he could, whenever he could, however he could - mainly through music. It was then that he noticed that the man was leaving, he could hear the footsteps over his music but he didn't open his eyes or cease his smile until the footsteps were out of earshot, and even then he only opened his eyes, his smile never vanished or even dimmed at all. It was full force, all the time, but he saw the man in the distance turn back to look at him, before he moved off to whatever it was that had drawn his attention. It was then that Alexander heard it too, a deep chanting in the distance that was growing louder by the second, soon threatening to overpower his music in this little clearing. Such volume could only be achieved by large numbers, the teenager figured, and he stopped his playing with a sharp chord that reverberated for a few seconds as he packed up the instrument and decided to explore. Maybe his quarry was there? It wasn't a long walk, soon he found himself on the edge of an enormous group of people, all of them standing around and staring at something in their center. Alexander could see a trail where someone had pushed their way through recently starting to close before him and he stepped into it easily, getting about halfway into the crowd before he had to stop due to the thick bodies all around him; men, women and children all interested in whatever it was they saw before them. Alexander was content to simply walk amongst them, smiling and casually picking the more vulnerable pockets within his reach as he waited for whatever this was to culminate. He had a feeling the blonde man from before was involved somehow, or soon would be. He seemed a trouble maker of sorts. |

Relyk eyed the men with ease for a few seconds before turning his back and preparing himself to leave. Before he could however, the men would start singing. As each note passed through their lips, the spheres would rise inch by inch until they broke the barrier. As everyone looked up in awe, noticing the colors interacting, the spheres would collide into one single unit. Within seconds, the color changed to a pure black. The shield around the men soon ended, though much to the surprise of the onlookers, the men revealed their true faces. Each one of them had dark black eyes, and appeared demon like. Some people screamed, while others just remained frozen. The man in the middle, wearing the green robe stepped forth, hands to the air. "You all have gathered, that much is clear. But now we ask, that you endure. No quarrels we share, though answers we seek. With intellect used, we all turn a cheek. Lead us astray, though we wish naught. You all have three tries, so give it a shot." The man spoke in riddles, though it appeared that the answer to the first riddle wasn't the answer that he was looking for. And soon he started to speak once more, now a bright smile on his face. Above, the black sphere turned green. It would appear that there were five riddles total, and that each one would need to be answered. Though, if the first riddle was deciphered correctly, it would become apparent that answering wrong could potentially end up in total disaster. "The sky is blue, though we tend to look past it. The grass is green, despite that it's flaccid. The colors we use, and associate with life. Can be used in anyway, including our strife. Our struggles we carry, our burdens we shoulder. The life that we live, and the lives we have smoldered. The big picture here, is what defines us. Do you have a path? Perhaps a designed lust? Colors are more, though we think that you know that. So please let us know, more about you with a fact." The man went quiet, and stepped back into formation. Each of the men clasped their hands together, and the green sphere returned to the black body. Relyk had turned around, and watched with an unnerving interest. These men, the power that they held was surely something more. But they seemed to enjoy riddles and word play. As the Slayer cracked his knuckles, he would crouch low. The meditation process soon began and he would do his best to think of the answer for the men. However, as he was busy thinking and what not, a woman stepped forth. She let out a light chuckle, and attempted answering the riddle. Being a woman though, she of course got it wrong and following her denial, the man spoke. "Two tries left." |

Alexander was frankly unimpressed with the strange hooded men before him, and as he threaded his way through the crowd he continued to steal belongings and the like with relative ease and a lack of care, pocketing watches and money as easily as other people might pick flowers. He was a fairly uncaring boy when it came down to it, he was a 'people pleaser' in that he made other people happy so they would like him, which in turn made himself happy. It was all about the self-gratification after all, as non-physically as he could make it. But with everyone so focused on these strange men he felt no real compulsion to make the bystanders care about him -and he also didn't care about the ones who were the center of attention- until he heard the first man speak. He had not looked up at the colours after all, it was the riddle that caught his ear. Turning his head towards them, eyes narrowing but smile growing, Alexander threaded his way through the crowd and came out near the front. The riddle was posed to the audience, three guesses were given and Alexander decided that this was a perfect opportunity to play a little game. See, unlike some people he had no desire here to 'show off' or anything like that by solving the riddle as though it was of no course -which it was not- he instead decided it would be more fun to simply screw around a little. He would answer the men but he would answer in his own way, he would see if they were really worth him bothering to play with. But he had to think in order to do that, he had to wonder exactly what it was that he would say. They seemed to focus on colours, something Alexander considered to be flippant and non-descriptive at the best of times, so... "A gray flower with no pattern to bloom," he called up with a huge smile on his face as the woman had been turned down, not moving to the very front of the group but staying slightly back so he could see them all properly, "As likely at sunrise as at night as at noon. When the bulb's grown and thoroughly drowned, the whole thing shatters and the plant crashes down." It was a simple riddle really, but still one of Alexander's favourites and it both described him as a person through the words used in the riddle and also posed a serious question. Though since it was only moderate in difficulty that was fine, he expected an answer of some kind. Since he had answered theirs it was only fair. |

The man looked to Alexander with a large smile, his eyes gleaming beautiuflly as they changed from a dark black into a bright green. He bowed, holding his position for a few seconds before rising once more. He listened to what the boy had to say, and though the riddle master seemed somewhat confused at first, he simply stated. "A cloud. . . I see, so you're a drifter. Excellent choice my friend, excellent." The people in the crowd all turned around surprised, the level of intelligence required out weighing their own intellect vastly. Relyk turned his head in the direction of the familiar voice, raising an eye brow as his hands fell back to his knees. He let out a sigh, and looked back up. Though he was resting in a sitting position, he dared not get up. Something else was coming, and he could feel it. The sphere by this point had emerged completely, and shot up into the air. Bursting into a great deal of confetti, he would disappear. This left four men, those of which seemed slightly unimpressed. Perhaps they were a tough crowd, though Relyk was sure that he would sway their opinion. They would look at him, and with respect dammit. The man in the purple robe stepped up to bat this time, though his posture and figure seemed to somewhat sway as he fell out of line. His hood hung idly around his neck, and his hands remained in his pockets. With a seemingly creepy chuckle, he glanced around. He pointed to Relyk, then to Alexander. As he pointed, the two would only have a few seconds to notice what was actually happening. Reality faded from their lives, and they were thrown into a large purple maze. The sky was purple, the ground was purple, and even the walls were purple. Though the colors only differed by shade, they were still all pretty bright. The walls felt like foam, though were too strong for any magical attack to break through. Overhead, a loud voice erupted. "You two show promise, it's true. Solve this riddle, or be stuck like glue. The end is there, here, everywhere. To solve this maze, keep alert. Use your senses, and try not to get hurt." With that, the voice faded. The sound of a dim orchestra began playing in the background. If the newly made partners chose the right path, the music would become louder. So far, there were three entrances. One directly up the middle, one to the right, and one to the left. Relyk looked down to Alexander, sighing as he tried to make his mind up. "Well..might as well get started. I think we should go down the right way. With all these play on words, what if right stands for..well, right?" |

Alexander, for once in his life, didn't feel any happiness at the praise he received from these strangely cloaked men, instead he almost felt a little bit disgusted. He wasn't sure why to be honest, it was almost like the vibe they were giving off was wrong in some way, as though it was resonating incorrectly with his magic -and making him feel nauseous- and as a result he found his smile twisting slightly, becoming disapproving and mocking at the same time. It was not a hard riddle he had posed them so he wasn't surprised that they had worked it out as he had worked out theirs (though his wasn't a real riddle actually) but when the man who's colour-question had been answered vanished Alexander's eyes narrowed. This was an odd situation, especially when the whole world faded away and was replaced with a garish amount of purple, making Alexander's smile slip a notch or two -not vanishing but dropping slightly in intensity- and making him squint. It was then that he realised that he was trapped in this purple place with the man who had asked about his music earlier, and Alexander looked up at him with a raised eyebrow and a mocking smile before taking a deep breath. He realised, like the other man, that this was a maze -partially by the surroundings but mostly because the second hooded guy had said so- and he thought back in his head to everything he knew about mazes. "Possibly a good idea," he said as he thought, remembering all of the algorithms his father had taught him about beating mazes both from an overhead view and from within them, "At the very least the right-hand rule is probably our best bet, provided the maze is simply connected. Meaning," he looked up since the other man probably didn't understand what he had said, "If all the walls are connected together. If there are any that are seperate however, not connected to the main edges, we'll be trapped in a loop more likely than not." He sighed then -though he kept smiling- because he much preferred overhead mazes, being inside them was kind of a drag. "On the other hand if we use the Pledge method we should keep following a set direction until we meet an obstacle and then place our right hands on it -assuming we want to go right- and count the angles, rotating until we return to facing the original direction and the angular sum of the turns is zero. Of course this is very likely a magical maze, meaning it will probably ignore normal rules to beating a maze. In that case simply following the right-hand path regardless of where it takes us would be the best bet. I am Alexander, by the way." And with that he set off, walking straight ahead with his right hand kept on the right wall at all times. |

The kid was odd, at least that is how he came off to Relyk. The lightning slayer simply shrugged as his eyes narrowed on the kid's newly discovered intelligence. He wasn't about to pretend like he understood, or cared about what he was talking about. He was able to follow the kid's speech somewhat, though his lack of interest caused him to only understand the idea on a fundamental level. Though as he piled Relyk with information, he ended up introducing himself. Again, another odd way of doing things, but shit.. in a world full of magic.. who and what was actually considered odd? As Alexander set off, Relyk would follow quietly. He threw his hands behind his head and hummed softly before replying.." Yeah, yeah, I'm Relyk." It wasn't very rude, nor was it very polite. It didn't matter though, the kid just seemed worth observing. There was this intent to him, that just seemed off. It's kind of like a demon baby, at first it's all cute.. then it bites your freaking head off. That shit just isn't all that cute after the head noming goes down. The purple man spoke once more, though this time he seemed hostile. As the two reached about a quarter mile through the maze, large amounts of black dust would fill the air, impairing their vision. It was the ever so dreaded purple haze.. and just like.. background music filled the air. Without warning, a large sum of bats erupted forth, flying straight towards Relyk and Alexander. "Prepare yourselves, not everything is mental!.. or is it?" The man shouted. Relyk darted forth, jumping ahead of Alexander. He smirked, jumping into the air. "Don't worry, i'll take over the physical aspects of this shit." And like that, his lightning erupted forth. His large lightning talons shot forth, swiping all incoming bats away. Though as the lightning made contact with the seemingly vampric beast, the true illusion would fade. The once bats, were now iron needles which littered the ground. Luckily their speed wasn't too impressive, but it was still a shock to see that there were actual dangers involved with solving this damned thing. Laughter filled the air, and the haze would subside. The man simply chuckled, his laughter turning into the ambiance of their trial. Relyk landed with a soft thud, crouching with bent knees. He slowly raised, brushing himself off as his lightning magic faded. Turning to Alexander, he would lower his left hand, pretending to bow. "After you, happy." The recent events would surely have the two partners now on their toes, for what else could happen? Would the rest of the trial be so aggressive, or would it dim down into a chill environment filled with go happy illusions? After all, it would either be a happy or horrific trip. Either way, it would be fun. About a quarter mile away, would be a right turn. Beyond that turn, would be two options. Left, or right would be the decision. If the two were to guess incorrectly, perhaps more unfortunate consequences would follow? |
