While Tai and BLitz were elsewhere, it seemed as if Zachary's location was also a fabricated dimension almost. Likely as a result from being closer to the vanguard than the others perhaps. Ether way, he didn't know how to get out so it was best to observe the 'trip down memory lane'.

After watching the little fight, little Zachary was in awe with the man he just saw. Despite the man walking away down the street, he was motivated to follow him, to learn more about the mysterious wizard. Zachary-- the older one, just watched with Jirachi near by. For the sake of confusion's issues, younger Zachary would be best to consider as "Zachary B."

Zachary B was now ducking behind allies and hiding behind the corner of buildings, a good few meters away from where the man was walking. The man's face was both serious and calm as he walked on to his own business. He was clearly a stranger to this town, as Zachary B had never seen him before. The more he followed, the more curious he got.

He walked on for a few blocks, before slowly coming to a stop. He just stopped in the middle of the road, for no reason or gesture to something that caught his attention. Hiding behind an ally way, Zachary B would peek out, waiting to see what the man would do.

"I know you're back there," he said loud and clear for Zachary to hear. Zachary B jumped at the accusation, and hid more. It was too late however as the man turned, his eyes locked on the ally where he was hiding. "Young man, for what reason are you following me?" he asked, his gaze as stern as a teacher's.

Finally, Zachary B came out of hiding and walked hesitantly to the man. "Y-you're a wizard, aren't you?" little Zachary asked, his tone meek and hesitant as he stood before the stranger.

"Yes I am," the man replied, his thick eyebrows furrowing.

At that moment, Zachary B took a step forward and then fell to his knees. He bowed down his head before the man, a pleading gesture that was both sincere and a bit forthcoming from his timid approach from earlier. "Please, sir!" Zachary B said aloud, his head low to the rocky road. "Won't you make me your apprentice?"

The man's face went from stern to surprised, his eyes widened and his mouth ajar from the sudden request. It was not something he ever expected to hear. Raising an eyebrow he eyed the young boy, almost as if he was crazy. "I-I beg your pardon?!"

Zachary B looked up to him, still on his hands and knees. "I want to be a wizard just like you! Please, won't you teach me?" Zachary B pleaded, his eyes watery but full of determination.

After a moment of surprise, the man regained his composure and cast a frim gaze upon the boy. "Out of the question. I am sorry, but I can't train you. I am a busy man and I don't have the luxury to take on an apprentice. Now if you will excuse me--"

His leg was caught on something. The man looked down with shock to see that Zachary B now had his arms locked around his right leg. "PLEASE!!" Zachary B said, the grabbing causing some stares from passing by townsfolk.

"Let go of me, boy! Enough of this foolishness!" he said, kicking his leg to try and shake him off. Finally, having enough, he then raised two of his fingers upward, casting some of his magic. Suddenly Zachary B felt himself go light as he was tugged upward by an invisible force. His grip weakened from the surprise as he was suddenly suspended 4 feet above the ground, floating and unable to move forward or backward. As he levitated, the man left, promptly turning around and marching off.

After a good few minutes of floating, Zachary B was soon dropped back to the ground, the magic wearing off. He sat there, his eyes blinking a bit from the experience. Then his eyes widened with amazement. HE JUST HAD TO GET HIM TO TEACH HIM MAGIC!!

Zachary and Jirachi had followed the two to a restaurant nearby. Zachary remembered this place, where he first had more time with the man he looked up to. Approaching the large window, Zachary looked inside. In response, Jirachi pressed his little face up against the glass and looked on with big curious eyes.

Sitting at a nearby round table, the violet haired man sat for a meal. Having just arrived in town, he was in need of nourishment. He now sat there, relaxing with a mug of coffee by him. As the waiter came over, he greeted the man courteously. "Good day sir," the waiter replied, bowing to the man. "What can I get you today."

"I will have a bowl of your beef stew and a side of mash potatoes please, good man." he said, a kind smile on his face as he was feeling better inside a warm building to relax.

At that time, however, the waiter looked to his right and made an uncomfortable face. "Um, sir?" the waiter asked. " Should I get another meal for your friend?"

A puzzled look came across the man. "Whatever do you mean? I am here by myself--" He looked to the side of the table to see what the waiter was looking at just as he was taking a sip of his coffee.

"Please make me your apprentice!!" Zachary B begged, bowing low on his hands and knees to the ground.

The man spat out his coffee in a humorous manner, totally taken off guard to see the same boy again. He was now at the foot of the table, bowing as if he was pleading to a noble or king for penance. He almost burnt his mouth from the shock. This was just getting ridiculous for him. He was making a scene in the middle of the restaurant.

Tai entered the temple and as soon as he entered the building he was stuck by a sense of nostalgia, a bunch of emotions smacked into him and hit him like a wave from a flood. He stood with in the main chamber of the sun temple, the very same temple that he was when he was with his captain on their last adventure together. Tai walked around letting the scenery sink in. Tai let out a huge sigh as he walked across the perimeter of the room like he did when he was there the first time running his fingers along the markings and hieroglyphs that he had looked at the first time he was there and smiled. Tai wasn't sure what was going on but the temple was exactly the way it was the day that he was there. Tai was half expecting to see him and the Captain walk in and watch how everything went down. Tai took a few more steps walking over to the magic circle, the same magic circle that activated accidentally that day and trapped him with in it and forced the magic abilities of the sun into his body. Tai started to miss those days being on the sea with his pirate brothers. Tai scratched his head as he looked down at the circle wondering how it exactly works but before he could really get involved with it his train of thought was broken by a strange sound that seemed to echo through out the temple.

Tai looked around and noticed that standing in the center of the temple was a creature seemed to be made out of rock with flames erupting from underneathe it's skin, it began to snarl and growl at Tai and started to walk towards it. Tai took a step back and let all traces of nostalgia disappear and let bits of rage and seriousness enter his thoughts. " I don't know who you are, or why you are here but did you blow up the town. Are you the reason why there dead people out there? and why are you using the same magic I do?" Tai clenched his fists as he wasn't sure what this creature had in store for him but what he did know was that he wouldn't let this creature abuse the same magic that he uses, especially if it is used to hurt innocent people. Tai positioned his fingers in his usual gun position when he readies his sol darts attack and aimed his fingers at the creature ready to pull the trigger. " tell me, answer me now!" Tai yelled letting his anger fuel his actions and his fingers were surrounded by a red and orange aura.

As Blitz walked towards Taito, he sensed something was off. Particularly when Taito didn't react as he expected, instead moving his fingers like a gun, the way he had back against the previous Vanguard, preparing to use his spell against him, presumably. Blitz sighed and looked closer. Sure enough, a faint green haze was around the iris in his eyes. "Taito, it's me! Blitz!" he said, holding his hands in up a non-aggressive gesture, palms forward and empty, the universal symbol for "Look, I'm not carrying a big murderous weapon." Blitz flipped one hand over to show him the back, the one with the Omega symbol on it, hoping that at least would register. "Remember? Deda gave me this."

The lava rock creature walked towards Taito, arms upraised (unfortunately lacking palms to properly showcase the non-aggression gesture) but when it flipped one arm around, the Omega symbol on the back of it would be visible to Taito in his illusion.

Back in the illusionary world of Zachary's memory...

"I'm starting to have enough of you, you brat!" the violet haired man scolded, his eyes furrowed in agitation as Zachary B still remained begging on the floor like a dog wanting table scraps. "You're making a scene!"

Zachary B looked back up to the man, still on his hands and knees. Determination was on his face, but also a bit of sadness for being spoken to that way. It was like looking at a puppy; not intentional but obvious all the same. Zachary wasn't simply begging for some favor. He truly wanted to learn to be a wizard, more than anything. The man looked at Zachary, seeing the clear sincere determination in his eyes. After getting over the shock to see him at his table, he let out a sigh.

With a snap of his fingers, he urged the waiter to come to him. "Would you please bring a hot chocolate the boy. It's okay, he will join me" he replied casually, and the waiter bowed his head in understanding. Zachary looked up with silent surprise, unsure what was going on. "Alright, boy. Sit," he gestured, welcoming him.

Zachary sat back, his legs folded below him as he sat on the floor with a smile, like a karate student would. It took the man a second to see that Zachary was sitting that way.

"Not on the floor like a dog! At the table," he corrected, a growl escaping him.

Finally, Zachary pulled himself up and sat at the table adjacent to the man. Zachary B was now growing nervous as he was face to face with the man before him. He would peer at the boy, reading his reactions. With a deep breath, the man looked at Zachary B a firm but gentle look. "What is your name, son?" he asked, wishing to address the boy as personally as he could.

"My name is Zachary, sir," he responded politely.

The use of good manners was refreshing to the man, a quality less common in children these days. He did have good manners, despite the hounding begging he witnessed within the hour. "Listen to me, Zachary," he began, knitting his fingers together before him as he talked. "I don't want you to misunderstand. My rejection of you as an apprentice had nothing to do with whether or not you lacked potential or character. If I could, i would happily teach you. However, I am a traveling wizard. I only intend to stay here for a certain period of time. It wouldn't be wise for me to take on a student and leave their training half way. " He could see Zachary's look of disappointment as he began to understand why the man didn't say yes to him. It pained the man too, hating to disappoint a boy so eager to learn. At this time, the waiter brought over a mug of hot chocolate with whipped cream on it, and left the two to continue talking. "I am sorry. I hope you understand my reasons,"

"Yes, sir. I understand," he replied, not yet touching his hot chocolate. He was clearly disappointed. "It's just... your the first wizard I have ever seen before. I would read about wizards in books and wanted to be one so much, but there is no one in my town who is a wizard, "

This genuinely surprised the man, sipping his coffee a bit. "No one?" he asked, causing Zachary to shyly shake his head. "No teachers? Not even a magic shop?" All of which Zachary just shook his head no.

"We are pretty isolated out here from the rest of Fiore. We get deliveries from Shiratsume but that's about it. I never me another wizard, or even found ways to learn magic myself. I never even left this stupid town. " Zachary explained, finally baring to take a sip of his hot chocolate.

The man nodded in a sage-like manner. "I see... it must be very infuriating to be stuck in this place. " he stated obviously, sensing the young boy's desire to be free from the town and learn magic. He truly did feel sorry for him. At that time, the waiter delivered his meal, but he left it as he spoke to his young guest. "Well my young friend. I certainly understand your feelings about this. I truly wish I could teach you, but I will tell you what I can do..."

Zachary looked up, a curious look in his young eyes.

"I may not be able to teach you magic... however, I can teach you about magic. How it works, so that some day when you are ready, you may very well be able to become a wizard. What do you say?" he asked, a smile gracing his bearded face.

At that moment, Zachary B's face lit up with joy, almost jumping out of his chair. "Really?!" He asked with joy, and was answered by another sage-nod. Truly grateful, Zachary stood up and bowed deeply to the man. "Oh thank you! Thank you so much, Master!" Zachary replied, beaming with happiness.

A gentle chuckle escaped him, amused by the boy's youthful enthusiasm. "Haha... no need for 'master'. Just call me Sien," he replied, encouraging him to sit back down.

"O-Okay Master Sien."

As the two sat down together, eating and talking, it was the first time Zachary and his idol and mentor Sien truly began their friendship. Watching from outside the window, the present Zachary looked on, feeling a bit of nostalgia as he missed his old mentor. Sien did in fact leave the town eventually, and Zachary had not seen him since.

Jirachi looked through the window, interested as the events played out. Returning to the task at hand, Zachary gave himself a small bonk on the head, reminding himself of the problem at hand. "Okay Jirachi... time to go, " he encouraged, gently tugging one of his back ribbons to encourage them to go. As Zachary walked away, Jirachi looked back and forth from the window to Zachary. Realizing it was time to go, Jirachi followed him, leaving the heartwarming scene behind. Jirachi was curious and had wanted to see what would of happened next.

As they walked down the street, Zachary began to think. "Okay Jirachi, " Zachary began, thinking aloud to him for an opinion but also just to voice his thoughts to figure out the problem at hand. "We are inside an illusion created by a memory from my past. This place was created to reflect that memory and where it took place. But in the end, its created by the vanguard. It must be using its magic to project this memory from my mind. So how do we get out of here?"

He looked to Jirachi. However... naturally, as he was too young, he just cocked his head. He was telepathic and able to speak but the concept of the illusion and how it worked went over his cute little head. In the end, Zachary was talking more to himself to figure out the problem.

"An illusion... based upon my memory..." At that moment, Zachary snapped his fingers. "I got it! The town was created from my memory. But the vanguard shouldn't be able to create a truly exact duplicate! There are gaps in long term memories. To make it realistic, the vanguard must fill in the gaps of reality with other things. In short, if we find something that does not belong here, it may lead us out of the illusion!"

Jirachi cocked his head, trying to understand. Something... does not belong? he replied cutely.

Tai had the monster in his sights ready to fire off his sun bullets at it. Tai wasn't sure what to think about what he was looking at, this creature was completely hideous but not only that it was possible that there was a secret about the temple that was left uncovered when he was there last, a secret that allowed the monster standing before him to completely decimate the village with the very magic that Tai now employs but on a much higher scale. Tai wasn't exactly a fan of seeing the same power as his own being used for something bad like this. Tai was poised to fire at any second, he was mad, anyone would be mad after seeing his magic being abused in such a way. " There is so many questions I have wondered since I had obtained my magic but if this is what it can do, I must make sure that it can never happen again ever, so I must start with this creature, and blow him away before he blows me and the rest of the world away.

It was at this point he had wished that his friends were near by, he wasn't sure how much stronger this thing was then himself, but he knew that if Blitz and Zach were around this thing and the temple would be dust easily. Tai was about to click his thumbs forward signaling the firing of his magic attack, but right as he twitched his thumbs he saw the monster put up it's hands, almost like it was begging Tai to stop before he attacked, before Tai could even make a smart remark he watched the monster roll it's arm around revealing the Omega symbol that was given to Blitz by Deda. Tai's eyes widened and he lowered his hands and pointed them towards the floor. " I know that mark... "Blitz is that you?" Tai asked as he allowed the aura around his fingers to disappear and eventually they reverted back to the way they usually were. "Blitz, why the hell do you look like that thing?" That's when Tai remembered what Deda had said earlier about this Vanguard being a master of illusions, and this whole time he must have been under it's influence. The instant he realized this the temple started to fade away as well as the monstrous look that the illusion had given Blitz.

Soon enough the illusion that shrouded Tai's world was gone and he now found himself standing in the center of a musty old church and in front of him was his friend Blitz. Tai was relieved to see his new friend, but soon he clenched his fists and hit a nearby pillar- " That whole thing was an illusion? Damn it, I'm going to kill that Vanguard for this..." Tai paused after remembering what he had almost done and turned back to face Blitz " Man I'm sorry about that, you just happened to look like well a lava monster? " Tai said unsure exactly what it was that he had encountered in the illusionary world. " Where is Zach and Deda?" Tai asked realizing that it was just the two of them.

Taito stopped as he saw the mark, seeming to recall it and recognized Blitz at long last. Finally, he thought. Though with that illusion clouding his eyes, god knows what I look like on his end of things. Taito's mouth was moving, asking questions, but Blitz ignored them for the moment - if he hadn't responded when Blitz greeted him a moment earlier, then it was clear that the illusion was preventing him from being overhead by Taito. I hope this works, he thought, as he marched forward and placed a hand on Taito's head - the one with the Omega symbol on the back of it. The Omega flashed, and then the haze drifted away from Taito's eyes, returning them to their normal color.

"Taito, you alright? Can you hear me? he asked, checking to see if Taito was all there. "I used the Omega symbol to clear the illusion from your eyes. As for what I looked like, you'll have to tell me - everything looked normal to me because my illusion was already broken." Blitz stood up straight, glancing around. "I don't know where Deda and Zachary are either. I haven't run into Zachary yet, but I'm more worried about Deda - I haven't seen her at all since the moment the illusion began, and being alone in the Vanguard's domain can't be healthy for her. Let's go find those two."

Back in Zachary's illusion, Zachary turned to Jirachi with enthusiasm. "That's right Jirachi. This is my home town, so I know this place, but the vanguard likely does not. I am sure there are some details here that it messed up on, and they could be a means to get back to reality," he explained for his little star critter to understand. Whether or not he understood was slim, considering how young the little guy was.

Aye! Jirachi replied, replying for the enthusiasm of Zachary's tone more than the information he spoke of.

Letting out a sigh, Zachary turned to the town before him. "Let's just start looking, okay?" Zachary said as he walked back to the square of the town.

The town square was active with illusion people, sort of like a static or chatter between people who did not exist. Whether they were actual people from his past, or people just randomly created from the recesses of his mind, he could not tell. He looked around softly, trying to pay attention to detail of the area for anything that did not seem familiar. It was his home town, where he lived for over 15 years. So much so it made him sick to stay there and where he wanted to leave so badly. He knew the town inside-out. Slowly through the crowd, he began to notice something shiny and white. He walked towards it, with Jirachi following him through the crowd of make-belief people.

Zachary stopped at a statue in the center of the square. He looked up to show a strange shaped angel. The body was simple, a strange halo like hat upon its head, with overly large sleeved arms forward in a descending position. Its face was obscured, as if hard to see through a dream. "There was no angel statue here in my town back then. Not last I checked. So if this thing was not meant to be here... " At that time, Zachary tightened his hand into a fist. With a thought, he created his Altaires light blades from his hands. "You don't belong here, and neither do we!"

With a push forward, he threw himself forward in an attacking gesture. He let out a shout as he launched his right fist forward, the blade striking the statue. His blade punctured into the stone of the angel. As he withdrew from his quick strike, the simple crack remained still, inactive. However, soon the lone crack broke even larger, and light began to glow from the broken stone.

It grew in size, becoming larger, as the statue began to crumble. As it did, more light emerged from the cracks, as if spurring its destruction. Finally, lighting up Zachary's look of satisfaction and Jirachi's confused gaze, the statue soon crumbled and burst apart in an explosion of light, engulfing him, Jirachi and the illusion town of Sleepy Hollow.

When the light faded, Zachary looked from behind his arm to see his surroundings. He stood in another town square, but this one not his town square. It was Oshibama all right, a wider larger dirt road type of clearing in the town. It was dark save for the multicolored come that eclipsed the sky above. Looking around, he found Jirachi at his side too, his cute large eyes blinking at the change in scenery from the blinding light.

"We're out!" Zachary cheered happily, reaching for Jirachi and hugging his little buddy. "We made it!"

Made it! Made it!, Jirachi chirped telepathically, giddy with happiness. However as Jirachi turned to his right, his jubilant faded with a confused 'ooh?' sound. He went quiet as he looked in that direction.

"Jirachi?" Zachary asked, wondering what changed in the little guy's mood. "What's wrong?" Curious, Zachary turned around to where his star friend was looking at. Upon what he saw, his face turned from curious to wide-eyed surprise, his teeth gritted in controlled fright.

The gaze of a large, one eyed creature gazed down upon them, having been behind Zachary when he and Jirachi had emerged from the illusion. It was large, likely over 30 feet tall, its body a ghostly or angelic white with tones of green and blue along its body. Its main body stretched down, into a flipper like a mermaid's tail, showing more decoration similar to a shape of an eye. Two large arms stretched from its body, like sleeves of a robe, its arms stretched out wide. Its face had a single, imprinted eye symbol on its otherwise emotionless face, with a halo above its head, and another ring behind it which extended 6 points. Zachary's expression was clear enough with fear, recognizing the pattern and style of this creature. It was very similar to the one they fought before, Skeith. This creature was the second vanguard!

Innis, The Mirage of Deceit

The second vanguard looked down at the two, emotionless and unmoving. Zachary didn't move, unsure how to react. "M-Maybe this is a statue too..." Zachary whispered to Jirachi, more for a stress endured joke than an actual suggestion.

Jirachi looked at the creature too, sensing the tension. Aye..., it replied unnerved as well.

At that moment, the large angelic looking creature responded and moved. It raised one of its large arms and began to bring it down to strike where the two stood! With a shout from Zachary and Jirachi, and a comical freaking out of the massive creature, Zachary jumped out of the way. With Jirachi in his arms, he lunged clear, the arm of the vanguard hitting the ground with a loud impact.

Zachary rolled to the side, keeping Jirachi close in his arms. The vanguard was slowly levitating off the ground, and its gaze following them. Damn... just my luck to run into this thing, and I have no clue where Tai and Blitz are! I can't fight this thing on my own!" Zachary thought, gripping his fists tight. Still, he knew he had to try!

"Let's fly Jirachi!" Zachary shouted, and tossed Jirachi behind him, having the little guy slide down his shoulder into his hood where he could sit in and hold on. Zachary entered a crouch and focused, his magic surging around him! "Meteor!!" At his command, the same magic aura enveloped him and he took off like a rocket! He made a clear flight overhead the creature and to make his way for the other side of the clearing.

"Maybe we can lose it among the buildings!" Zachary thought aloud, informing his cute little partner on his back.

However, the Vanguard was far more resourceful than he realized. The creature began to change as it raised its arms up and levitated into the air. It flipped over that strange ring of its back, and then through it, its arms and body through the ring. It soon resembled a type of bird of flying instrument. (Move used: Confusion Flight :P) At that moment, the vanguard took off at high speed, chasing after Zachary with new found speed.

Turning around, Zachary looked in shock to find the same creature hot on his trail. Its flight-form was far quicker than Zachary's meteor! "It can FLY?!" Zachary shouted, horrified. At that moment, the incoming vanguard collided with Zachary, sending him spiraling backwards from the impact! Jirachi was sent into the air. While it levitated and didn't get really hurt, it was flipped many times in the air, dizzy. Zachary landed on the ground on his stomach, skidding to a painful stop.

With strained eyes, he looked as the vanguard returned to its usual form, looking over the mage. Zachary gritted his teeth, realizing this fight would be far harder than he thought. Ether way in that town square where the fight took place, he had walked right into the Vanguard's parlor.

Tai kept on talking, trying to communicate with Blitz, although it seemed as if he was ignoring Tai. Normally this would annoy Tai, more than getting his drink spilled which Blitz had done earlier in the night by accident, but due to the circumstances Tai figured he would keep a cool head. He knew that Blitz had know what he was doing, in fact Tai already knew that Blitz was free from the his own illusion just by the fact he was able to communicate, not with words but by actions. After a few seconds after Tai had been able to realize that this was all an illusion, and the monster before him was in Blitz, Tai watched as Blitz walked over and put his hand on his forehead and with a green flash, like someone took a picture with the flash on at point plank the illusion faded away. Tai rubbed his eyes with his hands, he didn't like that he was seeing spots but he was relieved to see that Blitz was in fact Blitz and not some molten sun creature.

After shaking his head trying to grasp what Blitz was trying to say to him, he finally was cognitive enough to understand what Blitz was saying to him. " Yeah,... I can hear you.." Tai said, he felt like he just woke up with a bad hangover after a night of drinking. Tai understood what had happened and nodded when he was told that the omega symbol was used in order to clear the illusion from his eyes. " Tai began to laugh a little," Man what you looked like was only a small thing, this whole area, was wiped, it looked like an explosion happened with in the area, all the buildings, people everything was incinerated." Tai paused and took a breath. " And it looked like something my magic could do but on a much larger scale, and this..." Tai looked around able to recongize that they were in a church, he hadn't spent much time in a church before but he knew how they were usually set up. " church looked just like the temple I was in when I aquired my magic, and to top it all off you looked like a demon, no hands and made out of molten rock and fire," Tai finished with his explanation. He wasn't sure what Blitz would say or ask but he listened to what Blitz had to say about not finding Deda or Zach yet.

" Yeah, if either one of them ran into the asshole who had us all in lala land, they could possibly use our help." Tai said as he looked towards the door and nodded at Blitz's notion to move out. Before he could make a move he heard a commtion out side. It sounded like a sterotypical whistle that you hear a bomb make when falling from the sky and with a small crash he ran to the door and shouldered it open. About 50 yards out Tai saw the Vanguard standing over Zach who was on the ground, it was clear that he was in some serious trouble. Tai took off his bells so it wouldn't make any noises when he ran and with a quick burst he ran behind where the vanguard was standing , he chambered his arms, standing just close enough to catch the vanguard with in his two meter radius attac, just missing Zach and with a yell he screamed out " Sun Pillar!". with in the circle that the vanguard was standing a light shot into the sky two meters high in a cylinder like shape and with in a second solar energy errupted, causing a small explosion with in the cylinder. smoke filled the area where the cylinder was and Tai stood staring into the smoke not sure what or if he had caused any damage at all.

Blitz was relieved to find that Taito was alright mentally - no telling what he had gone through under that illusion. Blitz didn't have to wonder that for long, though, as Taito explained what he'd seen. "So...you were in some kind of hell-torched world? Sounds awful," he said. Could be a few good fights to be had there, though, he thought. "Let's go find our friend." They didn't have to search for very long. Seeing a pair of shapes dart through the air then collide and descent, the two ran over to find the second Vanguard standing (if you can call a creature with no legs standing) over Zachary. Taito launched a Sun Pillar tech that crashed into the Vanguard, but the Vanguard raised his shield ring on his back and blocked the strike from above.

It did cost him, though - he couldn't move it in time for Blitz, who had armored up as Taito cast his attack, to make it through the gap and body slam into the Vanguard, the combo of mage and machine bouncing twice across the ground and landing with the Vanguard underneath him as he raised a giant fist. "Lights out!" he yelled, slamming a fist into the Vanguard's face, but passing through it and hitting the ground, making a sizeable crater of broken earth under his fist as the Vanguard vanished entirely. "What the?" Blitz said aloud, standing up. The Vanguard reappeared in front of Blitz, Blitz lashing out at him, only for him to vanish just before it hit and reappearing just as it missed. "Hold still so I can punch you!" yelled Blitz with frustration, lashing out at the nigh-unhittiable Vanguard.

(Before they appeared)

Zachary had recovered enough to take off flying again. He then charged forward, forced to fight as he tried to circle around the Vanguard and attack from the side. "I got you now! ALTAIRES!" Zachary shouted, his hands glowing and creating his two light blades upon the backs of his hands. He then delivered a wicked slash across the creature's torso...

Only to have the form shimmer away as if it wasn't there.

"Wha?!" Zachary shouted, dumbfounded as his blades hit nothing but air, the image of the creature fading away as if it was a watery reflection. Before he could react, the creature reappeared behind him in the same way. What he had hit was a mirage! In a flurry of swipes, the Vanguard had produced two blades of its own and delivered a series of strikes around Zachary, causing him to scream and sent him falling to the ground.

Zachary! Jirachi squeaked, flying over as his friend lied on the ground. He approached Zachary, hoping to help his friend, but the vanguard was closing in over him.

At that time, the sound of a fiery roar erupted before them, as a pillar of fire broke the space between. Recovering enough to see, Zachary looked to find Tai, and right behind him, Blitz! "Tai! Blitz!" Zachary called out, happy to see them. Tai and Blitz both attempted to attack, but to the horror of the situation, the vanguard countered them easily.

As they fought, Zachary was still suffering from injuries. Jirachi then hovered over him, patting his face. Zachary had to smirk at his little friend's concern. Without even requesting, Jirachi focused, a calm but serious look on his face showing as he began to glow. A radiant light flowed from Jirachi and upon Zachary. Pain began to fade from Zachary as Jirachi began to use his wonder aura, slowly healing up Zachary's injuries that he sustained.

Jirachi, when you are done, quickly go over to Tai and Blitz. They will need your help too..." Zachary advised, feeling the pain lessen as the wound he got from the slashes recovering.
