Characters The feel of the water, from anywhere on any of the small isles that made up this city, is what made Kurohyuu feel at home and comfortable. He was sitting on the edge of one of the bridges that joined the sections of the city just watching the sunlight dance across the ripples of the water. Even though it was starting to get warm as the day had been sunny and the heat was setting in as it approached afternoon, Kuro was still wearing the ludicrous amounts of clothing he normally did, heat not affecting his choice. He seemed to remain cool in his attire, but more importantly, he felt somewhat anonymous and unnoticed in the black covering from head to toe. He would have been right too, if only he were standing in some back alley in the dark of the night. Here, however, all who passed by certainly noticed him, some had passing thoughts of how insane he must be to be dressed the way he was, but none of this affected the boy, who was well underway now to approaching adulthood. He stood from the side of the bridge, letting his hood slide off his head, revealing the tuft of black that contrasted with his pale skin, a pony tail falling out and down is back. He picked up his rucksack and began to wander through the towns, now with much intent, the goals in his head echoed by the sound made by his stomach. He was once again hungry and his poor choice in diet led him to try and fill this hunger with something primarily sweet rather than something nutritious. As he strode through the town, he was led by his nose to the place where he knew he would be to find food, rather than simply looking though his emerald eyes as he would for anything else. Kuro had to keep himself occupied on his own for the next few days. The one person he seemed to have been social with and whom he was now in a relationship with had brought him to this place for a while whilst attending to some family issues. So, as he was to keep himself occupied, Kuro had somehow managed to end up in total boredom and in failing to find a means of entertaining himself on his own and so had been simply wandering about for the past day, admiring the waterways and eating. He was beginning to wonder how long he could keep it up. Surely in a city as magnificent as this, he would be able to find something. His nose led him to yet another small cafe, where he would once again sit and let his monotonous routine control his decisions as he would be ordering more tea and cake. He let out a great sigh as a waiter took the order that he no longer had to think about to recite. He simply wanted something interesting to happen again. It was bad enough that he had to spend so much of his time in this city of love away from his. Scratching at ideas as to what he could do, he figured the best he could manage would be to find an old bookstore and maybe take some one or two books back to where he was staying. Life was seeming dull for the near future and he desperately wanted to change that, but short of having something or someone simply land in has lap, bringing some form of excitement or small adventure, it seemed he would be spending his time sleeping, reading and twiddling his thumbs. Kanna then stepped out from the train and into the floating islands of the city of love. It was her first time here. She thought of going to see the place. There might be fireworks here tonight. She then walked through the crowd of people, both tourists and locals, carrying her cannon with both hands. Some people would turn to her every now and then. They would wonder why would a girl so young would carry around a cannon with her. But her cannon doesn't function like a normal cannon. They just don't know it won't function without magic. And she just can't fire something at them without consuming her energy. The little girl then finally made out through the crowd. She then went out of the train station and started walking towards the heart of the city. Kanna was wearing her usual dress. White blouse with gray trimmings and a lolita miniskirt with white trimmings. People still turned to her as soon as she passed by them. But Kanna was used to it. In the academy, her seniors would wonder why is she carrying a cannon all the time. She then passed by a couple sitting on the bench. She then heard the girl said something about her. But she didn't mind it. After all, she was not harmful. And there was no law of prohibiting a child in carrying a weapon as long as she was authorized to carry one by her parent or guardian. Well, her parents are quite supportive to her to let her carry such thing. And her magic wouldn't be possible without the cannon. Besides, she promised them she would send them jewels if she already entered a guild and started doing missions. But she thought she have to explore the world first. Maybe after her journey, she would seek for a guild that offers decent jobs. Kanna then passed through shops that sells dresses. Cute dresses. She then stopped in front of a huge window with a wooden frame. Inside was a dress displayed in an artificial black body. It was a pink dress. It have a short bell-shaped sleeves and a layered skirt that is about two inches long from the knees. It have violet trimmings on the edges of the layers of the skirt and on the center of the upper part. It was adorned with a big violet bow in the chest part. Kanna then stood up in front of it. She then viewed the window as if she was wearing the dress. It was so cute. She thought of buying the dress. She then turned to look at the price. 20,000 jewels. Kanna dropped her jaw. It was too expensive. But the dress was so cute. But if she spend her jewels for the dress, she would starve here in the city. She can't even afford to stay in one of the hotels. The little girl then continue walking, trying not to think of the dress. It was just disappointing for Kanna to be here, that she cannot enjoy the stuffs sold in this city. |

As Kuro sat sipping his tea and eating his cake he was thinking he could spend the short time he had doing the less enjoyably things that needed to be done. He had to clean all of his clothes and even buy new underwear. Knowing his boyfriends usual reactions to anything associated with that region, he figured he'd be better off shopping for them alone. In his absent minded thoughts of underwear, he felt a warm feeling come over him, only to look down and find he had spilt tea on himself. His black shirt, although cleaned regularly had seen many days of use, being one of three shirts the boy owned. It was in dire need of replacing as not only was it tattered and used, but it was also getting small on him. The same could be seen for the trousers and shoes beyond. It seemed he'd need to completely re-stock his wardrobe to avoid looking like a tramp, and he knew it'd cost him a fair few jewels to do so. After wiping himself of with a napkin and finishing his light meal, he stood up and left enough for the meal and a small tip on the table before picking up his rucksack and looking around for a clothing store. He walked down the street and past and came to a section that appeared to be a clothing district of the city. He spotted a few tailors along the road but, as nice as the prospect of having tailored clothes was, they would be just too expensive. He finally came to a small clothes shop and was about to go inside when he noticed a small crowd gathering on the other side of the street. He couldn't help but check out what was going on and, besides, it wasn't like he was short on time. The small crowd was just a few rather uneasy looking civilians, but what they were looking at worried Kurohyuu almost as much as it worried them. A young girl was looking into the window of a dress shop and carrying, to his great surprise, a rather large cannon, carelessly swinging it, heavy as it was, as she walked. Feeling he should probably put the people here at more ease, he thought he'd try and get her to put it away... or something. he walked up to the young girl, who hadn't seemed to notice him and tapped her on the shoulder. "Sorry to bother you there, I was just wondering about that, err, rather hefty cannon of yours. It seems to be worrying a few folk around here. Is there really much reason to be carrying it?" Kanna was now looking at the window of the shop, adoring the dress that was displayed inside. She really wanted to buy one. Then she saw something strange behind her as she look through the reflection of the window. People. They are gathering behind her. They're all looking at her. She then asked herself what's with her today? Well, nothing special except for the cannon that she was carrying in her arms. Kanna then realized that they might be worried about the cannon. Even though it's her forte when it comes to cannons, people wouldn't believe right away that she can use it effectively at her age. She then saw a guy trying to approach her as she saw what's happening behind her through the window. The guy then asked her if it's necessary for her to carry such weapon since she's making the people around her getting worried about it. "Well, I'm a tinkerer. And I'm using cannon magic. I don't think there's a reason for me not to carry this weapon." Kanna replied to the guy. All of the people were now looking at her. She then turned to her back. All eyes were on her. Even to the youngest kid in the group up to the oldest lady and man in the city. She then saw a guy at the back of an old lady. Kanna then wondered what the guy could be doing. She then realized that he was trying to steal from the old lady. Kanna then run towards the old lady. The guy didn't noticed her as he was busy trying to find something that he can steal from the old lady. She then pointed her cannon at the guy. But to the other people, it looks like she have pointed it to the old lady. They were all shocked and shouted in unison. Kanna then concentrated her magic at the handle part of the cannon and made sure that she won't hit the old lady. The tinkerer then walked closer to the lady as she would hit the busy robber. The people around her were yelling at her to stop. The cannon then felt heavy and Kanna let out a blue laser beam out from the cannon and into the guy who was already holding the bag of the old lady. It hit the guy and sent him straight into the trash can behind him, with his head entering the trash can first. "Garbage day!" Kanna shouted as all people were silent about what she just did. |
