So San and Kuilei employed a devilish strategy to get the two boys to finish their food in the blink of an eye. Quite brilliant, but at the same time it could have been extremely dangerous. Clear still wondered why the kids didn't choke on their food, yet he had no time to intervene in the first place. So now it was finally time. The time to feed a two-year old that hated veggies, just that, veggies. "I guess I will have to use my trump card for this." Clear mumbled to himself. Michael had just about finished popping the last of the water spheres and was back on his seat. Shooting his plate a quick glance, he made a swift attempt to leave the room, with Clear grabbing him to stop him. The kid started screaming and struggling to get away, the sight of the vegetables in his plate driving him away from the table. This was exactly how Clear expected things to end up, it was a good thing he thought to bring those pieces of candy with him. He took a piece out of his pocket and held it high in the air. "You remember about this, right? Now, if you want to have this piece of candy you have to eat all of your vegetables. Is that clear?" Clear told the boy with a serious voice. Looking at Michael's expression, Clear could tell that there was an inner struggle taking place. The two sides of him were arguing, his love for candy and his hatred for vegetables. It was a pretty simple question, "Do I like candy more than I hate vegetables? Is this worth it?" or something along those lines. The expression on Michael's face was dead serious, Clear could never imagine that a kid could make a face like that. After a while, Michael looked back at Clear and shook his head. Clear interpreted this as a refusal to their deal, followed by the boy continuing his struggle to break free of his grasp. Sighing, Clear took another piece of candy from his pocket. This kind of defeated the purpose, feeding the kid healthy food with a reward of unhealthy ones, but there was no other way to go about this. And kids needed their share of sweets too, Clear also knew that. Upon seeing the second piece of candy, the boy's eyes sparkled and he stopped moving. He looked back at his plate, then at the pieces of candy, and eventually started eating his food. The face he made showed pure disgust, but he endured it until the end when he received his reward. "Now to see what the others are up to." Clear muttered as Michael ran to the living room with his trophies at hand. |

Chaos, chaos everywhere - San should have known better than to leave Kuilei alone, even for a mere moment. Now in the living room, the poor golem had his stone arms completely full trying to make sure Delian and Zachary did not wreck everything in the currently-clean room. "Hey hey hey- no, not the lamp, don't tip over the lamp, Delian!" He would utter, grabbing the child away from a certain table, before turning over and having to run across the room almost instantly - "And you, Zachary, no throwing cushions off the couch! Someone worked very hard to put those back-" As Clear entered he would come in to see a cushion hit the golem directly across the face; while it definitely couldn't hurt, the golem minutely panicked as he lost vision, and practically rolled up right then and there, holding on to the squirming Delian like the hamster in a hamster ball. And of course San took that moment to re-enter the room as well. "...Kuilei, what are you doing?" He slowly asked, looking around the room; it was for the most part cleaned, though that which the toddlers had even laid hands on was already ruined. "Why are you entering defensive formation with the child?" Hearing San's voice, Kuilei swiftly rose back up, gently letting go of the child- or rather, almost letting go before grabbing on again. "Sorry, Master San, something hit me and I thought that something dangerous was-" "A pillow. Thrown by a two-year-old. Dangerous." "I didn't see it, I thought it was something else!" San tsked, waving a hand in dismissal of Kuilei's reasoning before moving forth to grab onto Zachary before he could finish Delian's job of smashing a certain lamp. "Nevermind all that. We need to figure out what to do right now - if we could, set them up for sleep, but I cannot imagine any way of doing so without performing activities that may result in arrest and detainment by Fiorean Knights." |

It would appear that San had a valid reason for wanting to watch over Kuilei at all times, The golem was practically helpless against the toddlers' "attacks", despite being much greater in every aspect. Was he just being silly or was he too kind? Either way, he was unable to do the job properly. Clear sighed at the scene of the freshly cleaned living room turning into a mess once more. "True, if we could somehow put them to sleep, then all of this will be over. It's getting kind of ridiculous, do these kids have no limits? Wait a minute..." Clear paused for a moment, looking at the living room. Why was it so tidy? San used one of his summons to do the job, but where was said summon at the time? "San, where is the person who did all of this cleaning? I don't suppose he went off somewhere on his own? We can't afford to have him going around doing all sorts of crazy things, from what I remember he's not the smartest person around." Clear asked San. To be honest, none of San's summons had much common sense, the ones he regularly used even less so. In general, it was a good idea not to let them act unsupervised. Especially in a foreign house. Ignoring the matter of the summon for the time being, they still had to figure out what to do with the kids. They already fed them, which would mean now was a good time to put them to sleep for the night. The question was, how. Those three boys were acting crazily than a member of Tartaros would, running around the house, tossing around anything they could get their hands on. Clear grabbed on to Michael who was struggling to leave his grasp, while San had already captured Zachary and Kuilei Daelian. "All right, we have all three in custody, now what? Let me think of a way to put them to sleep in a peaceful manner. It can't be, I will come up with something." Clear said, one hand on his mouth indicating he was deep in thought. Thinking back to the days when he was a young child, how did his mother put him to sleep? "I'm the worst example ever, I was too obedient. But my mother did read me bedtime stories." he thought. They had nothing to lose by trying, their parents should have some kind of fairytale book in the boys' room. "We will put them in their beds and read a bedtime story to them. Simple as that." Clear told the other two with a serious tone before heading upstairs. |

"He is currently recalled; I did so when I found out that I could not locate him either," San grunted, his arms latching on to Zachary before the boy could wreck the house. "I looked through several rooms, though; I daresay they are probably in a far better condition than what they were when we first entered. For one, I can see the floor in most of them now, and there are actually things inside of the shelves and drawers. I am not even going to speak of the bathroom." San paused for several moments to consider the options. "But is there not usually some sort of...ritual, that goes with sleeping?" He asked, the type of question only he could ask. "There was...something about self-purification. What was it; Kuilei, what was it called, that self-purification before sleep?" The golem also had to take a moment to pause. "Was that under a waterfall or not under a waterfall?" "I believe it was all indoors." "Uhhh...Oh! Right, the bedtime showering, teeth-brushing, and changing to pajamas, and that kind of stuff. Do we have to do those too, then?" And Clear thought he was a bad example; neither San nor Kuilei had slept in several- well, a long time, to put it simply. "Oh, he's already gone up the stairs." San noted without emotion, while Kuilei looked at the path to the upper floor. "Should we just follow suit, then, Maser San? Clear's ideas tend not to fail." San nodded quietly, and the two of them soon went up the stairs, each one with a less-than-eager toddler in their arms. "Shush, Delian, stop moving. Master San, do you know anyone with hypnosis or the like?" "You wish." Speaking of which, their next problem - which room exactly was the room they needed? There were over half a dozen doors, and what with their hands full with children, neither person could easily open any of them. |

Purification, as usual San's vocabulary tended to be a little archaic. But he was right, they had to brush the kids' teeth before they put them in their pajamas, but they sure as hell weren't going to give them a bath. The reason for that? Too much trouble. With the group on the house's second floor, Clear noticed that there was no way to indicate which room was the correct one. A problem easily solved. "Suina, go and open the doors until you find the bathroom." Clear commanded his companion to which she agreed without a word. She approached the first door, at which point she tried to open it. The problem she encountered there, however, was her lack of height. "I can't reach it!" she whined, tears trailing down her eyes. Clear wanted to hit his head against the wall, why did most of the people around him lack common sense. "Turn into water. Extend upwards. Grab the handle. Open the door." he said coldly. Suina wiped her tears and followed Clear's instructions. She turned both of her arms into water and extended them upwards, grabbing the first door's handle and opening it. She repeated the same process until they finally found the bathroom. "Let's go." Clear said curtly to the rest. The bathroom was in, well, let's say average condition. It was apparent that someone had been through it, tidying stuff up, and Clear knew exactly who it was. Feeling grateful to San's summon for making their job infinitely easier, he brought Michael inside it to brush his teeth. There was a small cupboard above the sink which Clear opened to find soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste and generally other hygienic items. There were three light blue toothbrushes, each one labeled with a letter to indicate the toddler it belonged to. Clear picked up Michael's, put some toothpaste on it and proceeded to brush the boy's teeth. Hopefully, San could observe what he just did and have Kuilei do the same as well. The boy struggled, but since it did the same for pretty much everything they did so far, Clear had no trouble restraining him and finishing the job. Now all that was left was to take them to their room, dress them in their pajamas and put them to sleep. A task far more difficult than anything they had encountered so far that day, but a necessary part of their job. "I'll meet you at the boys' bedroom. Make sure to brush their teeth thoroughly." Clear told San before exiting the bathroom. |

"Kuilei - you first," San commanded, and the golem not unreluctantly entered the bathroom with Zachary; "You did watch how Clear did it, right?" Kuilei nodded, letting the boy sit on his knee and holding him there with one hand while using the other to put toothpaste on the toothbrush, and then promptly attempting to imitate what he had seen the water mage do to the boy. "Okay, Zachary, you are a dinosaur, and this is a sheep! Quickly now, bite down on it before it gets away! Good job! Now keep your mouth open, and don't swallow!" - The animated pile of rocks was unsettling in his success at babysitting tasks, not that San noticed it. He was busy trying to think about how to get Delian to brush his teeth; unlike Kuilei, he did not have a limb that could function as a chair, nor did he have three arms. So of course, "Lao-Shi, come forth!" and in a sudden whirl of ink an old man appeared, his presence and appearance unique enough to stun the toddler in San's hands into mouth-gaping mode. The old man took one look, and was more than well informed, as Kuilei came out of the bathroom with a clean-toothed child in his own arms. "Go for it, Master San! I'll go off looking for Clear and Michael, now - oh, the toothpaste, they cannot swallow!" He said, before leaving the undead mage, the toddler, and the wizened summon to their own devices. A moment of silence passed, before the summon automatically moved. "I will get the toothbrush and the toothpaste ready, young San," he said, rushing into the bathroom. "We need to keep him occupied so he will not counter it - your magic is perfect for this, Lao-Shi. Use it." And thus, for several minutes the bathroom of the house became a living room of ink birds, and while Delian gaped at the sight San and his summon cooperated to brush the boy's teeth as fast as possible; or rather, San held him there, and the summon brushed his teeth. When they were done, the summon cleaned it all, and San quickly took Delian out of the room. "Dismissed, Lao-Shi." With that, the summon and his ink vanished, leaving San holding a clean-toothed but now clueless child. "Now, which one was the bedroom?" |

Using the same method as before, Suina opened the doors one by one until they found the bedroom. Clear walked inside it to find a pretty tidy place, evident that San's summon had passed through it as well. There were also three small beds, each one with a letter engraved on it. Placing Michael down on the bed with an 'M' on it, Clear looked around for the boy's pajamas. He noticed a neatly placed pile of clothes on one corner of the room, and he picked the appropriate ones for the boy. He changed him into his pajamas with no real resistance and put the boy in his bed. Their father mentioned one of them would try biting if you put him in bed, but it turned out Michael wasn't that one. Poor San, he was the one that would have to deal with it. Or Kuilei. Seeing as the other two hadn't entered the bedroom yet, Clear decided to search the room for any fairy tale book he could find. It would be rather weird if there wasn't any kind of book he could read to the toddlers to make them fall asleep, how would their parents make them sleep otherwise? Spotting a shelf with various books on it was no hard task, and Clear approached it to take a look at its contents. Picking up the first book, Clear took a look at its cover. It pictured a man with red hair and a sword, wearing a rather strange piece of clothing. The book was titled "The adventures of the red swordsman". Clear flinched at the sight of the book, so he immediately put it back and pick the next one. That one had the same red-haired man on its cover, but this one also had a brown-haired swordsman pictured on it. This one was titled "The red swordsman and the exquip mage". Clear didn't give the book another look before putting it back and proceeded to pick up the next one. What would you know, the same red-haired swordsman was on the cover, and he was accompanied by a person with black wings. This one was titled "The red swordsman and the black winged demon". "..." Clear didn't utter a word before putting that book back on the shelf. A quick inspection showed that all of the fairy tale books featured the same red-haired swordsman as their main character in one way or another. "Why is Hasaki the protagonist in all of these stories?!" Clear shouted, making Michael jump up from his voice. But honestly, what kind of sane person reads stories of Hasaki's doings to their children? No, besides that, who the hell decided to make fairy tale books of him?! |

With all the doors open, it didn't take long for Kuilei, and eventually San and company, to find the boy's bedroom. They arrived at the perfect time; "Ryo? What did he do?" the golem obliviously asked, while San caught sight of the picture books. "Let me see those," he grunted, practically flinging Delian into the neighboring summon's unexpecting arms. While Kuilei moved towards Zachary'd bed, and the summon to Delian's, San went over next to Clear and picked up a book, flipping through it rapidly, examining the contents. This particular book was in the same series at the one that mortified Clear, but San was just unfortunate enough to pick up a certain volume. Even without reading it, the pictures alone somehow managed to make San's face pale in color, before slowly turning his head and holding the book out for his summon to see. "...Lao-Shi, can you read the title of this for me?" he asked, momentarily forgetting that he hadn't informed Clear about his illiteracy. The old man took a glance, and then softly spoke. "The Red Swordsman Meets the Dead Guy and His Pet Rock." San now very slowly flipped through the pages, looking at the pictures, before gently returning the book to its original place and walking stiffly back to the beds. "Once upon a time...There was a guild master...with a double life..." The back cover of each book had an image of the author, a rather plump man with blonde hair and circular glasses, smiling awkwardly as all awkward authors of children books who happen to be deranged guild masters that have to supply a guild's worth of alcohol do. "...There...will be no story..." He murmured, his voice dying out; the undead mage was experiencing shock. Having not heard him, Kuilei and the summon were busy putting the boys to bed, Michael included - Kuilei herded the third boy along with their own to the beds. "Now, I have a little story for you all, and Lao-Shi has one too, so we'll take turns - listen quietly, okay? Because we're not repeating it." They were most graciously leaving room for San and Clear to react to what they had just seen. |

San didn't take to the books, as Clear expected he wouldn't. The shock from reading about his meeting with Ryo in one of the stories must have been a great deal for him to handle. The dead guy and his pet rock? Who the hell wrote this stuff? Clear turned around one of the books and was horrifies at the face of the author. A picture of their guild master was etched on each of the books, it would make sense that this was his doing. Thankfully, Kuilei and the summon had their own stories to tell the kids which left San and Clear some space to breathe. Clear tried to make himself look at another book and its title was "The red swordsman and the emo water mage". Emo, him? Clear flipped through its pages and he saw a story of his meeting with Ryo, how he was tricked into buying him a drink and all of the other stuff. So Vile knew everything that went on inside the guild house, was he some kind of creepy stalker? Clear put the books back and took a sit on the bed. Their personal stories were floating around the city in the form of fairy tales, that would be enough to shock anyone. Taking a look at San, Clear decided he would be the one to make this matter forgotten. "San, forget everything about this. These books don't exist, we never saw them, okay?" he said in a serious voice, placing a hand on San's shoulder. Ignoring the matter altogether seemed like the best way to cope with this. "I'm going to have a talk with master later... maybe not." Clear thought, instantly changing his mind. Confronting the master about such a trivial matter wouldn't end well for him. When Clear turned his head back to the boys, he was surprised to see all three of them asleep. Whatever story Kuilei was telling had a great effect. With that, the matter of babysitting the kids was settled. Fast forward a little bit, the kids' parents returned home. They were rather surprised to see the condition the house was in, everything was neat and tidy. They thanked the duo wholeheartedly, gave them their reward and sent them on their way. It was a rather fulfilling mission, in a strange sense, but Clear had decided something. "San, we're never taking on another babysitting mission, okay? I doubt you would have any objections." he whispered to San, in a low voice so that Kuilei couldn't hear him. No doubt the golem would oppose the idea, he seemed to have enjoyed himself a fair bit during this mission. [OOC: Just end this mission now and put it up for grading, all right?] |

San was dead-silent through the rest of the night, from the moment he saw the books to when the triplets fell asleep, and even after they left the house of Dorian White who thanked them so profusely that one would've thought they had saved his and his family's life he still spoke nothing, walking with a dull and emotionless expression. Only when Clear spoke, while they were en route back to the guild, did he open his mouth again. "No. Never," he too whispered, his voice faint like a breeze. "I was not and am not made for this sort of task, no; Kuilei is more than happy to. If need be, I will send him to babysit for Jewels. I have no desire of repeating this night. Ever." He too, was making certain that the golem did not hear his voice; Kuilei was several paces behind them, humming happily, while the summon that San had earlier called on had unsummoned himself what with his not being needed anymore. The more they walked, the more San recovered, and by the time they were about two-thirds of the way to the guild he could even speak without sounding like one about to die. "All of this business that we have done thus far is productive, I will not disagree; but I believe I will need to travel to a less populated place, soon. There is simply too much city-business and too much artificial disruption for me to handle. Perhaps, I will return to the forest for a short duration soon, to rejuvenate myself," he said aloud, unafraid of Kuilei hearing this part. "Of course, I will contact you if I do act upon any such thing. If you are willing to come along too, when the time comes, I would not mind; you are not, after all, possessing the moniker 'the wildfire'." He considered what he knew thus far about his teammate, and realized his lack of knowledge about him. "Unless of course, it bores you to do such things; if you are looking for excitement, action, a stir of events at every turn and corner, then by every means do not come with me. We would simply be in the path of one another, you suffering from ennui and myself from one suffering from ennui." Finally, they reached the guild hall. Upon entrance, San instinctively walked towards his usual location to take a drink, and, presuming that Clear would walk right back up the stairs to his own room, bid him farewell. "And a good evening to you, Clear; but consider my proposal." It would be another night of no sleep, for this undead magi. |
