The team had now spread into two groups and Clear thought it safe to trust San with his part. The summon he called for... wasn't the sanest of the ones in his possession, but he didn't come off as bloodthirsty either. He seemed like a decent choice that wouldn't put the children's lives at risk. Anyway, Clear had his hands full on his side, the kids had started causing mischief and he wasn't about to let the house get any worse. He got next to the kids with a few quick strides and "disarmed" them at once, taking their crayons. Of course that earned him a new series of yelling and crying from them, but he wasn't about to give in. Clear liked kids, that part was true. He could be really nice to them and also play with them if they asked. But he wasn't lenient. If they misbehaved, he was going to put them in their place. And this was such a situation. The kids had a lot more crayons in store, but Clear apprehended those along with the first ones. The kids in turn kept screaming louder and tried to take them from him through any means necessary. Biting him, pulling on his clothes, attempting to climb on him, they weren't stopping. "So this is what their parents have to deal with on a daily basis..." Clear thought. Despite that, Clear wasn't going to prohibit the kids from having fun. He was just going to make sure they did so responsibly. A difficult task, some might call it impossible, but he was not one to give up like that. And for that, shit had to get real. Not literally. Dealing with toddlers might lead to that though. Anyway, Clear took off his cloak, threw it to some faraway corner of the house and then set down his gourd. "Suina, I will need your help. Go find me some white sheets of paper while I hold them down." he commanded her. "Yes sir!" Suina replied, getting in the spirit of the mission. She jumped down from the gourd and went around the chaos that was this house's living room in search of the target item. Meanwhile, Clear did his best to keep the kids from crying, although he wasn't really successful with that. He was more used to dealing with slightly older kids, about five or six years old at the youngest. Suina quickly returned with a few crumpled pieces of paper that looked like they had been stuff in some random drawer. "Good job." Clear praised Suina and patted her head, earning a smile and giggle from her. He then proceeded to set the pieces of paper on the floor and handed the toddlers their crayons back. He gave them a serious look and made sure they left the furniture alone and painted solely on the paper. |

And thus, this most strange of situations - Look upon me now, the Alchemist Wu, Master Alchemist and Shining Paragon of Alchemy...picking up rags on the floor, wiping tables, and washing dishes. And he thought truth; while San was observing Kuilei cuddling the toddler, he also kept an amused eye on his summon, who was as of now running around the living room-kitchen-dining room area on housecleaning duty. It wasn't even a part of the mission, but San had a hunch that it would be extremely beneficial for their given task; the last thing he wanted was to lose the child in this mess of a house. "Wu, the dining table and chairs - give those a wipe-down as well," he even said, to which the summon less-than-happily complied. "It will be impossible to feed these children if we cannot even sit them down properly without three rags, a pair of pants, and- is that a knife on a chair?" Poor Alchemist Wu; he had his work way cut out for him. Turning around, he noticed that the toddler in Kuilei's arms was currently attempting to bite the golem; thank the heavens, Kuilei had a stone body. "Master San, I do think he's hungry!" the golem called out, to which San pointed towards the currently-in-cleaning dining room. "Might as well feed them now, then; Kuilei, bring that one and sit him down on a seat," he instructed, going off into the kitchen area. He opened the pantry and the refrigerator, finding them to be nightmares of course, but did contain some amounts of easily-prepared toddler-safe food, like applesauce and pre-cooked vegetables and the like. "Kuilei, you ought to call Clear over to; may be easier to simply get the three of them to all eat at once," San stated, taking out what food appeared to look unblemished and not yet hazardous to health. Kuilei turned his head around, calling out. "Clear! Suina! Should the time be appropriate to feed these children? Doing it now might simplify out tas-Come back!" While he was speaking, Michael slipped out f his arms, and the golem quickly snatched him back up and seated him onto a chair, turning around and grabbing the closest toy he could find to occupy him for the moment. |

Everything was going smoothly on Clear's end, at least as smoothly as it could. The two boys, Delian and Zachary, were now quietly sitting on the floor and painting on the pieces of paper Suina provided. Calling it a massacre of the paper would be a more fitting term as the kids were painting at them with fury, as if they wanted to obliterate them from existence. They were continuously painting on the same part until the paper ripped, at which point they switched to a different part of it. Calling them a handful was an understatement, their parents should be at the verge of mental illness themselves. It was around that time that Kuilei called them over in order to feed the children. Dear lord, why now? The hardest part about caring for toddlers was getting them to switch from one task to another. As such, taking the papers and crayons from them was bound to induce a fit of screaming, yelling and biting. Clear had to be diplomatic about it, he had to find a way to get the boys interested in having food more than coloring on their papers. He could always take them by force, but that was not the proper way to babysit. "Boys, would you like to have something to eat now?" Clear asked them in a sweet voice, a voice that would make anyone that met him in the past leave their mouths gaping. "No!" they replied with one voice and kept at their task. It looked like they could understand some basic things, and having something to eat was part of that. Clear could imagine their mother trying to do the same with them and getting the same response. But Clear was no fool, he had a plan for this. Yes, Clear had come prepared for this mission. He reached his hand to his pockets and produced two pieces of candy which he raised above his head. "If you come to eat now I will give you this candy." he said with a smile on his face. The toddlers immediately let go off their crayons and ran to Clear, trying to get the candy from him. His tactic provided the end result he wished for which was getting the toddlers to him. He picked both of them up with ease, the boys still struggling to get the candy from him. He took the both of them to the table where he put them down next to their brother. "All right, it's time to feed these kids. What do we have in store?" Clear asked Kuilei. He glanced around the kitchen and spotted the food they were thinking of preparing, applesauce and vegetables. "Ugh, another hurdle coming up. How will we get them to actually eat their vegetables properly? And didn't their father say that Michael doesn't eat them? Oh boy." Clear thought. |

San was now taking out everything he could find in the kitchen that could be served - "Mashed apples in jars, small cardboard boxes of I am presuming some sort of fruit juice within, half a container of bread, some leafy greens and I am presuming slices of precooked and cooled meat, a few strawberries and some other fruitstuff, ten thousand of these half-frozen boxes with pictures of dinner foodstuffs on them that I cannot understand how they function, several oversized bags of fried thin-sliced potatoes...I think there might be the ability to make a sandwich in here," He finally decided, though turning to Clear first. "Perhaps you will want to look at this? I have no idea as to which ones of these are safe for children to consume." A wise choice; San had never seen applesauce, juice pouches, TV dinners, or potato chips in his life - not that he wouldv'e been any healthier by knowing them. The kitchen amply showed how time-drained the family was. Kuilei was making good use of himself; standing near the table, the golem decided to try and entertain the triplets for a bit, or at least get them out of their attempts to bite Clear. With his arm held above the table, he began to use magic to attract their attention - in his hands a shining blue light appeared, which instantly quieted down the three boys as they saw it, and continued to glow as it molded itself into several small figurines, made of a light blue crystal. These were humanoid in shape, almost as if little dolls, but Kuilei's attention to detail made them appear rather realistic in design, ornate treasures worthy of a museum. Looking around to see that all three boys were simply staring at his palm right now, the golem smiled. "Look here, a few toys - do you want one?" |

Clear couldn't help but smile when he saw the way Kuilei was treating the triplets. A simple display of magic had completely grasped their attention and they were actually behaving for once. That went to show how easily children were fascinated by such displays, boys especially so. That settled it, Kuilei was cut out to be the perfect daycare instructor. San should just find him a job in one and enjoy the rest of his life leaving from those earnings. Anyway, back to the task at hand, Clear and San had to prepare food for the kids. Seeing as San had absolutely no idea how to deal with the matter, Clear stepped up to the case. That was to say, he was no expert either, but he at least knew which of these things were appropriate to be fed to children. "Let's see what we have here." Clear mumbled as he moved next to San and inspected his findings. The "main dish", so to speak, was going to be the apple sauce. Such food was commonly fed to young kids who lacked strong teeth to properly chew on harder things. "Although these boys would have no trouble going through iron." Clear contemplated sarcastically. He then shook his head and continued with picking the food. There were also small cartons of orange juice, each one with a straw attached to its side. Also a common beverage for children, it was actually the most common type of juice. The boys' parents at least had some sense to their choices. And then came the vegetables. Carrots, tomatoes and broccoli. This was going to be the only difficult part about all of this. Carrots were fine, many kids even liked them. Tomatoes were usually regarded as tasty by most people, although Clear himself wasn't that keen on them. But broccoli was... a nightmare. Clear himself could still remember the time when his mother forced him to eat this abominable piece of- vegetable. Its taste was horrible, Clear didn't like them as a kid and he didn't like them now. But he wanted to do a proper job, the boys' parents entrusted their safety to San and him. He could easily feed the boys the easy way, but that would mean half-assing things. Taking a deep breath, Clear braced himself for what was to come. "All right. San, these are the items we will be feeding the boys. Everything else is unsuitable." Clear told San while pointing to the aforementioned items. "And now, it's war." Clear thought with a serious look on his face. |

"Very well then," San replied, promptly putting everything else away the places he had taken them from, albeit in a far neater arrangement; that is, the pantry no longer looked like it was about to collapse once he rearranged everything, and the refrigerator had little chance of exploding any more. As he put it all away, the undead mage took a look at the foodstuffs that Clear had chosen; "Mashed apples look readily edible, the cartons of that orange liquid as well- we are not feeding the vegetables to them raw, are we?" He asked. "Carrots, tomatoes, broccoli - such things can be easily stir-fried, not that I am of much skill in that art; but can they eat it without those foods being mashed, I wonder?" He took a glance at the three boys, currently under Kuilei's care - they hadn't smashed anything yet, so he turned his attention back. "Ah, found the plates." Meanwhile, Kuilei was fully employed in babysitting - while his little crystal figurines were dancing around the table, entertaining the triplets for the moment, the golem himself rushed to the kitchen area. "Quickly, Master San, Clear, if we are to feed then- ah!" With a swift motion, the golem took three orange juice cartons, before running back towards the kids. "If we can use magic to distract them - well, they shouldn't focus on what they eat or drink. My magic can only hold for so long, but perhaps if you, Master San, or Clear, or Suina...? Imagine how long we could distract them. Maybe enough for a full meal," the golem advised, before putting a juice carton in front of each child. Too busy watching the crystals dance amongst each other, one of the boys instinctively picked up a juice carton and stuck the straw through, drinking it greedily. |

"Vegetables can easily be eaten raw. Frying them is rather unhealthy. And if you put the carrots aside, the other two are soft enough for even a baby to chew through them. I originally thought there would be an issue with feeding them the carrots, but after feeling how strong their teeth are firsthand, I doubt they will have any problems." Clear replied to San. He then helped San arrange the plates in front of the kids and he arranged equal servings for each one. Making them eat their entire share of food was going to be the most difficult part, but they could deal with that when the time came. "So magic can easily distract them... I think I might have a spell or two in my arsenal that can look pretty entertaining." Clear told Kuilei as he carried the plates to the children. He then neatly placed them before each boy. He was certain that leaving the boys to eat by themselves was going to prove a disaster, so he thought that they should feed the kids themselves. Clear looked around him and easily spotted three bibs that looked freshly washed, albeit in pretty bad shape. They would work for now so he dressed each boy in one of them. They were going to massively reduce the amount of cleaning they would have to perform later on. After the boys drunk through their orange juices with incredibly high speed was the feeding part. The war. "San, Kuilei, brace yourselves. This is one of the toughest parts about taking care of children. We now have to feed each one ourselves. Take a plastic spoon each and start feeding them the applesauce. Suina, you watch for anything unexpected that might happen." Clear said in a serious commanding voice. Suina nodded at his words and climbed up the table where she promptly stood, observing the scene. Clear decided that he would be the one to feed Michael, seeing as he was probably the most experienced in said area and that was going to be the most difficult task. Finding a way to feed a toddler something he didn't like was in a way even more difficult than fighting your way through a horde of enemies. And Clear had much experience with fighting against a huge number of foes. He moved the spoon to the apple sauce, took a serving and moved it towards Michael. "Say aaaah." he said to the boy. Surprisingly, the toddler obediently turned his head to Clear and opened his mouth, quickly devouring the food. "Well, this is the easy part, apple sauce is rather sweet and tasty." Clear thought. |

"You...were bitten? Already?" San replied, taking note of what Clear just said even as he followed the water mage to the table; taking up a plate himself, the undead mage took a spoonful of applesauce to feed whichever child was closest - in this case, Delian - after Clear's example. Of course, with the combination of Kuilei's distractions, Clear and Michael's example, and Suina's appearance, the boy was too busy taking in the new sights to notice much, and so consumed the food at an almost unhealthily-swift rate. "Quickly, Kuilei, take the other plate - feed the other child!" San whispered at the golem in a rushed voice. "And as much as you can; use those things on the table to keep them busy!" Kuilei nodded, grabbing on to the last plate and immediately beginning to feed the third child, Zachary. Looking at the boys, the golem's otherwise-not-so-maternal instincts led him to notice something unusual: "Master San, Clear, the three of them are eying one another as much as us or the magics; perhaps it is because they were born around the same time, but I have this bad feeling that if one of them begins to cause trouble we will have our problems...well, tripled." San tsked upon hearing this, now stuffing broccoli into Delian's mouth. "In that case, slow down Michael's eating pace; if we can make the other two finish before he begins vegetables, we minimize the possibility of all three of them going on anti-vegetable strike," he concluded, and so he and Kuilei began to feed Delian and Zachary more vegetables instead of applesauce per spoonful. Somewhere in the living room, a certain unfortunate figure was still cleaning house, tossing blocks and figurines into boxes and returning clothes to the shelves they might have supposed to have been in at some point; poor Wu, San had for the moment completely forgotten about him. |

Clear paused for a moment when he heard what San and Kuilei had to say. He had heard about twins having some kind of special bond, so the same should be true for these triplets. And while they say "laughing is contagious", the same can be true for crying, especially in the case of toddlers. So yes, if one of the kids started crying or throwing a tantrum, the rest were bound to follow. "So if we go on like this, Michael will try to stop me from feeding him his vegetables, the other two will see it and act the same. Very perceptive of you Kuilei, the thought never even crossed my mind." Clear said, praising Kuilei. Yet the question still remained, how was he going to slow down Michael from eating his applesauce? The boy seemed to love it, he was practically swallowing each spoonful in the blink of an eye. But like Kuilei demonstrated earlier, there was an easy way to accomplish said task. A distraction was in order. After feeding the boy the last of the applesauce, Clear raised his hand and with a snap of his fingers, a number of water spheres appeared floating all around Michael's seat. "Kids love soap bubbles, these should hopefully produce a similar effect." Clear thought. As Clear expected, the boy was immediately taken in by the floating spheres. He swang his hand towards the one closest to him, making it pop with a slight sound. Under normal circumstances, the spheres would cause an explosion, damaging everyone close to them. Clear was not an idiot, he had already made sure to conjure the spell in a way that it would deal absolutely no damage to the people it hit, save for the water it splashed on them. The spell provided the perfect way for the boy to waste his time, he got up and started running around his seat, slapping the water like it was a toy. The spheres were placed in a way that the other boys wouldn't be able to see them, that would produce the opposite result in the end. "I'm keeping him occupied for the time being, you two just make sure to finish feeding the other two their vegetables while this lasts. And by this, I mean another minute at most." Clear told San. Yep, with the rate the boy was popping the spheres, he was going to be finished really soon. The only remedying part was that he had to try to get the ones that were floating a little higher than his reach, taking more time for them than the rest. |

So of course, wise as they were - or otherwise, as one of them would call the other - San and Kuilei entered a feeding frenzy, not in the usual sense of the term. As expected, they too had a trick up their own sleeves, as San would start it. "Quickly now, child - I bet you can eat more than your brother over there, can you?" He whispered, though loudly enough for Kuilei to hear. Kuilei figured out what he was trying to do, and immediately followed suit with a casual-sounding "Zachary, look at Delian, eating so fast. He thinks he can eat faster than you. Show him, Zachary, show him how fast you can really eat!" It proved to be a lot more effective than they had realized; within moments, San and Kuilei's arms were struggling to keep up with the food the two of the triplets were gorging, as they competed in an impromptu eating contest. The two even grabbed some with their hands, eating them up like wolves. Within about forty-five seconds or so, they were completely finished, and Kuilei and San promptly picked them up and practically ran out to the living room - "The rest I leave to you, Clear, I presume!" San called out, as they left Clear to the supposedly-nightmarish task of feeding Michael. Upon entering the living room, the two had problems figuring out where they were - yes, for a few moments they thought they were lost in the house. "What the...what's this place, and why is it so organized?" San muttered, and Kuilei blindly looked around. "It looks kinda like the living room, but all neat and stainless and- San, what happened to Alchemist Wu?" Upon hearing those words, San immediately put Delian down, while Kuilei did suit with Zachary. "Kuilei, look over these two for a moment, I will go look for that man," San commanded, quickly leaving the room. "Wu! Alchemist Wu! How far exactly have you decided to clean? If I find you somewhere like the bedrooms, your bounds have been far overstepped..." He vanished, leaving Kuilei temporarily guarding two two-year-olds. "Come back soon, Master San?" |
