Once they left the basement, San patiently waited while Clear read through the Diary; whilst the water mage was dwelling in the past of his mother, the undead mage was mentally occupied by the possibilities of anything occurring outside. He was still uncertain of anything going on out there; so, with the flick of his wrist, he de-summoned the one he had sent on to the rooftops, his mind receiving the information as the man up there dissolved into sprites that re-entered his own body. San took a moment to digest the information. "Those two outside are still out there, but there is none else," he quietly reported, to himself as much as to Clear. "No direct damage has been done, but they are getting bolder by the moment." He paused, considering what was going on. "Caution, above all - Clear, do not mind if you hear a bit of noise outside. I fear for Kuilei's existence." So he summoned someone else, outside, on the other side of the house. This here was a man of moderately tall height, his facial features obscured by a wide-brimmed hat, with a thin coat that elaborately covered him, and finally a massive gourd on his back - the Alchemist Wu. This time around, San was wiser, and gave him a set of extremely specific instructions and details on what to and not to do. With the utmost purpose, this same figure took a stroll around the house to the front, where he caught sight of a blue tiger, a red-haired man, and a rather formidable-appearing golem. "Hey!" He shouted, startling Kuilei; the golem turned his eyes to look, and upon seeing someone he recognized, his expression shifted to one of confusion. The Alchemist, though, was not confused - no, he had a specific purpose. Walking towards them, the man promptly took his place between Riven and the golem. "Excuse me, excuse me, coming through, this backrest is already reserved, find yourself another one," he whimsically called out, before shortly taking a seat on the porch - to be precise, he sat right down in front of Kuilei, his back resting on the golem's leg. Which had the side effect of calming down Kuilei; the changes on his physical self reversed, and soon the golem was in his normal blue-crystal form, standing tall like a sentinel. The Alchemist promptly smiled at the red-haired man. "My seat." When San heard Clear speak again, and move away deeper into the house, he of course followed. "Close? What, is there another hidden chamber?" he asked, guessing wildly and not entirely serious about it. |

"Eh?" Riven was stopped for a short while as the strange man from the roof had suddenly dropped down and taken his position before Kuilei. Admittedly, the person's (or summon's) presence had a great deal of effect on the golem as it seemed to have transformed back to its original state. Riven could only conclude that this was someone the golem could trust. "All right. So we're not allowed inside." he said with a defeated tone and as if Tyki understood what was to be done, he went behind Riven and laid on the ground. Then, the flame mage took to sitting on the ground just before Wu and the Kuilei, leaning back against Tyki's large mass. He smiled. "Then shall you entertain us for a while, old man." Then his smile grew slightly devilishly and his eyes slanted more sharply as he added, "What exactly are you? I haven't forgotten the other man from the train. Are you the same?" Tyki let out an echoing tigerish mew at the question but he now focused his eyes on the golem. <Hey, say something! Say something please! You were talking just a moment ago, weren't you? Please?I promise I won't dirty your rocks with my pawprint. ((OOC: sorry if short. I blame alcohol)) Edited by Sinjin, Nov 24 2012, 05:54 PM.

Clear walked inside the bedroom, San following closely behind him. The diary's hidden pages had specific instructions, there was a detailed layout of the room with an X mark on a part of the wall. Clear approached that place and put his hand on it. There was a clicking sound, and with the same mechanism as before, the wall before him opened up to reveal a small crevice in the wall. Inside it were several envelopes, just like the diary said there would be, as well as a strange round object. Clear was sure that he had seen something similar before, but he couldn't put his finger on it at the moment. The letters interested him far more. He quickly went through the envelopes until he found the one with the earliest date. The pile was neatly placed in chronological order so it wasn't that difficult to find. The recipient marked on the letter was River Crystal, there was no doubt that these were the letters she received from Lester. Clear unfolded the paper and started reading. There was nothing particularly strange about the letter, it was more like two friends exchanging news than two lovers secretly meeting. So his mother made sure to cut all such ties when she learned about Lester's wife. Upon reaching the end of the letter, Clear still hadn't found anything of importance. Just then, his eyes fell on the bottom of the pages. "Yours truly, Lester Morce." followed by a signature and a seal of some sort. That was definitely the way a person of high stature sent letters. But what shocked Clear wasn't the fact that Lester was a person of high society, he already knew that anyway. It was the name itself that was more surprising. Lester Morce was the name of the current owner of a huge lacrima manufacturer. The seal at the bottom of the letter was unmistakeably the mark of his company. There was no way a citizen of Fiore wouldn't have heard of that name, at least not one as well-informed as Clear was. So he really was dealing with someone that high up... no doubt even a member of Lamia Scale was out to get him. But these letters, this were the evidence Clear needed. If he could bring the connection Lester and his mother had to light, he would shake his position, considering he also had a wife and children. Clear came to a halt when he thought about that. He had siblings, actual blood-related siblings. "No, I can't call those people my siblings." Clear shook his head. He wanted to have nothing to do with the Morce family, not after what they did to his mother. But still, these letters proved nothing about River's death. Sure, there was enough in there to prove that she and Lester once had an affair, but that was hardly enough to put him in jail. His most serious crime, hiring a person to kill River, was not recorded in any of them. Not like a person would write to the person they wanted dead of how he was planning on ending their lives. Then Clear's eyes moved back to the other object in the safe, the round device. He took it in his hands and examined it. There was a round opening at one point with a lens-like piece of glass behind it. Below that, there were some buttons, holding some symbols Clear was familiar with. This device was no doubt a recording lacrima. It was a camera that not only recorded things, it could also replay them. The real mystery was, what exactly did this lacrima hold in it? There was only one way to learn, see with their own eyes. Clear walked to the room's entrance and shut the door tight. He wanted as less sound as possible escaping outside. "Watch closely San, this device will shed some light in our case. At least, I hope it will." Clear informed San before pressing the 'Play' button. The orb lit up, and soon images were projected from it. The video played in the air above the two, similar to a certain Star themed trilogy. The setting was the house's living room, the amount of detail this thing had was magnificent. There was color, and every aspect of the room was perfectly portrayed. It kind of made Clear feel nostalgic, seeing the house he once lived in in perfect state. There were three people in the room. On one side, Clear's mother was there, holding the same scythe Clear was currently in possession of. On the other side, there was a man both San and Clear knew, albeit a lot younger. That man was Jerred Moors, holding the same dagger he tried to kill Clear with, and a smirk on his face. The reason for that was soon obvious, there was another person in the picture, held tightly by him. That person was Clear, many years younger and the age he was when his mother passed away. He was either sleeping or unconscious and it was evident that Jerred was using him as a hostage. Clear clenched his fist in rage, so that bastard had indeed gone as far as using him to threaten his mother. "What are you doing with my son? Who are you? Let go of Clear!" River shouted at the unfazed Jerred. "Now, now, I don't think you are in any position to shout orders at me Ms. Crystal. Don't forget that I have your son right here. One wrong move and his life will be over." he replied with his usual cocky attitude. "If you as much as think of touching a hair of his head you will not get away unharmed. You have no idea who you're messing with!" "Actually, I have a perfect idea of who I am dealing with. You are River Crystal, formerly of the guild... it was so insignificant I forgot its name. But you used to be its ace member and you are definitely not a person I could easily deal with. Hence the underhanded method." "You, how do you know that much? What exactly are you after?" "The answer to that is simple my dear, I am here to end your life. A certain party has asked me to dispatch of you." "...So Lester sent you." "Oh? You are aware? Then this makes things much easier. Yes, it was Lester Morce that hired me. Now, if you would kindly enough surrender your weapon this will all be over swiftly." "Why would I do something stupid like that? If I surrender now, there's no telling what you will do to Clear." "Well, the plan does include to kill him as well. Shame, really, I don't really like killing children." "! Get your hands away from him! I swear that if you harm Clear I will stop a nothing to make you pay!" "Now this is making things rather complicated. That's why I don't like using hostages. You are rather unfortunate that my magic couldn't affect a person of your caliber, this would have been over painlessly had that been the case. All right, all right, how about this. I will spare the boy's life if you take your own life." "...And why should I trust you?" "You'd really just have to take my word for it. But I put my pride as a member of Lamia Scale on the line, I will not harm the boy. I actually value my life a lot, I wouldn't want to incur the wrath of a person such as yourself. But you do realize that the boy won't be safe as long as you live? I promise that I will hide the fact that he lived from my boss." "And you actually expect me to believe the words of a killer?!" "Not really, I don't. But your time's up." With those last words, a dark fog surrounded River's body, completely robbing her of her freedom to move. "You were... stalling all this time?" "Correct. This item is a really useful one but it takes a long time to set up." Jerred answered playfully as he walked towards her. With a swift move of his dagger, his sliced her throat, hitting a vital artery. "So long Ms. Crystal, you were a tough opponent to deal with." he smiled as River collapsed on the floor. "And as for you boy.. I am a man of my word. Simply wiping your memory will be enough." he said as he walked to Clear and placed a hand on his forehead. The video ended at that point, with the real Clear left completely stunned and terrified. Edited by Vilis, Nov 25 2012, 02:14 PM.

San was wise enough in matters of this sort to guess what Clear was feeling, and his reply was near-instant, after watching the scene that had played out before them. "...Well, the forbidden fruit has been tasted, now the consequences must be dealt with," he quietly muttered, turning to the water mage. as was his usual self, he wasted no time in getting to the point. "How do you intend on dealing with this - with Jerred, and this here Lester Morce fellow? You are no longer the helpless child I am presuming used to be you in that video; dare you run and hide, leaving your mother unavenged?" a pause of utter silence. "Or dare you face a bloodbath?" He himself was somehow emotionless after seeing the video; it had been a long time, since he had actually seen someone getting murdered, and honestly he knew not what to think of it. Outside, the Alchemist gave a wry smile at the red-haired man. "Other man? A train? I have no idea what you are talking about, my dear floored friend," he answered; strangely enough, his voice was legitimately curious, and his appearance utterly innocent. "And who are you calling old?!" His eyes twinkled, twin merry stars dancing in the night. "I daresay you look pretty old yourself, and you even have some random exotic beast with you, like some old lion-tamer from a lacrima film," he retorted, leaning back further in his impromptu seat to make himself all the more comfortable. "I'll give you this much - I'm a man, and human, so there. I've never gone on a train, but I'm a man, so at least half of your guess is right, whoever it is you're trying to compare me to." He was a garrulous one. "So I am a man. So are you, so am I the same as you?" A hint of mischief. "Actually, I can't even confirm if you're a man - are you a man?" The golem was still mute, but his self was shaking minutely - laughing, or trying to respond, it was hard to tell. |

Riven laughed at the other's response. He leaned back as tauntingly against Tyki the same way Wu had against Kuilei's leg. "You're a funny man, I must admit." he said as he listens to the rest and raises a brow at the response. Now that he thought about it, this person does look a tad bit different than that other one. "Oh right, I keep thinking of that old man… huh…." he trails off before raising a hand to his chin as if to motion for a drink, "Maybe later we could all go out and have a drink and a long chat about who we all really are. But for now, we can just remain anonymous and sit right here. Not that those two inside would bother joining. Such spoil-sports." Tyki made an approving tigerish mew before looking more to Kuilei. <Hey, aren't you gonna speak? Hello? My name is Tyki. There. What's your name?> he really wanted a conversation of his own. Meanwhile, Riven made sure to keep his attention to this odd fellow before him. "Me? Gee, I wonder. People back home called me a demon. Maybe I am." Riven answered with a grin before looking back at the other with teasing eyes. "Or perhaps you could appraise me if we actually meet through strengths?" |

Clear was visibly shaken by the video he had just watched. So it was all his fault, everything that led up to that point, his mother's death, was caused by him. It was evident now, why Lester wanted his mother dead. He couldn't have news of his illegitimate child spread; it would cause great damage to his image. If not for San's quick reply, Clear might have even burst out crying. But alas, the water mage had left such days behind him. He was no longer a small kid that would cry at every bad thing that happened to him. Although this would easily count as more than just a simple bad event, he was still not going to let it affect him too much. Clear gave himself a slap across the face to come to his senses, then he turned to San. "Run and hide? Do you really take me for such a coward San? This man, Lester, he will pay for everything he did. First him, then Jerred. A bloodbath would be the wrong way to go about it, I want him to suffer more. I want him to lose everything he has, fall into a pit of despair and then be thrown to jail for his crimes. It might sound cliche, but that's the way I want it to be. As for Jerred, he will be facing a fate worse than death." Clear said, the anger in his voice obvious to anyone listening. "All right San, here's the plan. He will be departing for Crocus immediately. That's where he lives and where the final stage will be set. We have all the evidence we need to put him in prison for the rest of his life. The only problem is, a lot of time has passed. Jerred must have informed him of today's events; he will be prepared. It is safe to assume he will have sent people to come after us. Consider ourselves in a state of complete alertness from now on. Trust nobody. Our goal is a simple one; we need to turn all of this into the knights and make sure it is not buried. A person of his caliber could easily remove a few pieces of evidence, but not if we play our cards correctly. In short, we will be guarding these items with our lives." Clear then picked up everything, the diary, the letters, the recording lacrima and put them in his backpack. "Also, I take it you are curious as to what exactly the real story is, right? I don't want to keep things from you, not after all we've been through today. I will tell you everything on the train; we will have plenty of time there." He then left the confines of the room, headed straight outside of the house. Upon exiting the house, Clear saw a rather weird scene. Kuilei was standing guard outside like he was supposed to, and one of San's summons was also there talking to the two intruders. "You two are still here?" he sighed. Ignoring the two, he walked outside the house in a fast pace, the train station his next destination. "Come on Kuilei, we are leaving." he told the golem curtly. Suina was watching Clear the entire time, and even she could tell something was wrong with him. She didn't understand most of the things she saw in that video, but she could tell that Clear was incredibly angry. "Clear, are you ok?" she asked with a concerned look. "I'm fine Suina." he replied coldly. "This is not like you! Go back to your regular self!" the water elemental shouted while hugging Clear's head from behind. That last incentive was the final push that made him realize what he was doing. He stopped walking and turned back to Suina. "You are right, I'm sorry. I'm calm now. We are still going along with this, though. You are free to leave if you want." "No way, I'm coming with you!" "Is that so? Thanks." the water mage said with a smile, one he hadn't shown anyone in a while. He patted his tiny companion and moved on to his final destination for the day. |

"A drink and a long chat?" the Alchemist asked rhetorically. "Ha! You can't last half as long as I can, when it comes to downing the drinks!" he replied, a hand slapping his knee. "You have no idea what drinking is until you've drank from this here," he added, tapping the large gourd behind his back. "Now this, is some good stuff!" The Alchemist was too busy talking to mind, when a small fireball leaped out and back into a gourd, followed by a sharp sliver of bamboo. "You haven't really drank until you've drank my brew!" As for the challenge - the Alchemist took ahold of his gourd as Riven spoke. "A test? Of strength? I can't say I'm too strong, but why not! And a celebratory drink!" he cheered, as he lifted his gourd, prepared to drink it- but he was pushed out of his way by Kuilei, who was moving to let Clear out the door. As he tumbled, smoke suddenly spewed out of the gourd, more than enough to render the Alchemist and Kuilei impossible to see by normal standards; it cleared in a few moments, but when it was gone, the Alchemist and his gourd were found to have vanished, and furthermore Kuilei was no longer standing in front of the door - he was further ahead, a half-dozen steps away from the entrance. By that time, of course, Clear had already exited the house, with San in close pursuit - the undead mage turned to look at Kuilei, then at Riven and the tiger. "I smell smoke," he muttered, before talking to Kuilei. "Did Wu try anything funny?" Ah, so the man was a summon, after all. The golem shook his head, and spoke for the first time in a while. "Nothing; he was about to have a drink when you called him back," he replied, to which San grunted in acknowledgement. Finally, San turned to look at Riven and the tiger, a strange look in his face. "You've been begging for it all the while, I see no reason not to give you what you wish - here," he muttered, waving an arm as he walked away, the golem in pursuit. As he and Kuilei departed, towards the train station, a figure rose out of the ground - no less than the Alchemist himself, resummoned again. "Whups, sorry for that departure!" the man happily boomed. "But as a way of apologizing - let's meet through strength, why don't we?" He took ahold of his gourd, holding it in his arms as if a giant bludgeon - and charged right at Riven. "Careful now, the gourd's heavy!" |

Riven watched the spectacle unfold before him once more. And again another surprise came in the form of smoke. Though Riven watched as the golem had tried to clear the way for something so he and Tyki (almost getting the urge to lift his 300kg tiger if it was possible out of the way as well) made way. It was then learned upon that the two from earlier (or rather from inside) were now in a hurry. Riven's eyes followed Clear as the youth seemed fixed in his thoughts and was merely hurrying away without a care. No fun - Riven thought when he realized his little stint in the area would have to come to a close. Next came the red garbed man who was looking around like a father ready to reprimand his sons… well, just one for now since the alchemist Wu was gone and he had to bring Kuilei away… but not before he faced toward Riven and said those words. "Oh please, old man, we both know it's destiny to finish something started." he said, patting the dust off his jacket and watched the smoke appear and the alchemist return again, "Fine, fine. Entertain me while you still can keep yourself transformed." He then prepared himself for the other's attack. It wouldn't be an all out war with the other but enough to get him back to action. After all that has happened that day, he might as well let out some frustration, especially from the train incident, and have fun. Tyki seemed to agree with him and the two would let lose their unshakable combination of flame explosion and vibration destruction. … and from Oshibana Town there would be seen a smoke rising from the direction of that isolated placed near the outskirts of town and some guards actually concerned but wondering if it was wise to investigate. ~Oshibana Chapter End~ |
