Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

San groaned, rising from his seat, and in a single gesture led to Kuilei following suit. "Nothing good will come out of staying here, then - we must move out, on foot if need be, and definitely with all speed affordable," the undead mage stated, looking around as well. "Perhaps they have been moving faster than you suggested, Clear. What if they had already made a plan of this, and caused this disturbance in order to buy time for something else they are preparing in Oshibana? I would not put it beyond the power of a legal guild with possible connections to ask a few favors of a train conductor," he theorized, another gesture of his hand causing Kuilei to stand close to him. The golem was looking around equally curiously, and was in particular staring at the suspension bridge. "So this means that...we will have to walk on a bridge by foot?"

Of course it would be then that San also became aware of the red-haired newcomer; unfortunately for that man, the undead mage was practically paranoid at this point, and with very good reason for it. Cursing under his breath, San quickly bent down and slammed his hand on the ground, causing a mass of his sprites to exit from his sleeve. "Lao-Shi, come forth!" he commanded, his first time ever so bluntly summoning a figure. Still the sprites responded, forming a humanoid shape, and within a moment there was a new man standing in the path between where the red-haired man was and where Clear and San were. He was an ancient-looking man, white-haired and long-bearded, the very definition of a sage, with a giant ink brush in his arms. "What is the matter, San? Rare is the occasion where you call for me nowadays," The old man asked as a greeting, himself looking around. "Do what you do best, Lao-Shi," San hastily said, his voice containing a sense of urgency that he rarely possessed. "Release the spirits!"

The sage summon noticed the situation, and nodded immediately. "Understood, then - Landscape Opening!" He said, his voice proud but controlled. As he spoke, the sage's brush made a wide stroke against the ground, causing what looked like several miniature mountains of ink to appear from the floor to the ceiling, forming a box-like shape that appeared to trap Riven and the summon himself within; such was the magic, that the ink rendered it impossible for even San to see his summon on the other side, and for the summon to see San outside of the ink mountains. With that set up, San immediately turned around and stepped onto the suspension bridge, making use of his blade to balance himself. "Clear, follow me across the bridge; Kuilei, you are largest, you move last. We cannot afford to spend time here - my suspicions are such, that that very man you just saw was no innocent bystander," he explained, after several steps across the bridge. "The chances are likely that he is one of them. Move fast, Clear - that summon has a magic that is not intended for combat, and at best makes for a visually impressive distraction. Once he realizes that those walls of ink are as passable as ink, that summon is done for, and we must take every advantage to make as much distance before that happens."

As Riven would near the only people and golem inside that one coach, he would soon be greeted by what seemed to be a sudden shift of reality. A man with a long white beard and large painting brush appeared out of nowhere, just as the man in red garb had thrown his fist to the ground. Then, without a moment too soon, the white-haired man had began to paint and what seemed to be the coach had transformed into a scenery before him. "Amazing," he first uttered as he looked around and knew that it was surreal to be in a mountain range, but he quickly turned to face the white-haired man with seriousness in his eyes, "And to what do I owe this… aggressive greeting?" he said, already feeling that the showcase of skill was not out of whimsical thought.

Then, he thought about Tyki and the possibility that the tiger could be in peril. He clicked his tongue. He looked around and then decided that if he would be surrounded by something he knew well was not real, he might as well enjoy it while it lasted. So faced the white-haired man named Lao-Shi. Grinning, he clenched his fists and at both sides they ignited in a reddish like flame. His dull reddish brown eyes sparked with life, like real fire burning along the irises. "Old man, how strong are you?" he said rather than asked as he took a step and without another thought whipped his arms.

Instantly two parallel lines of fire were shot, forming like a cross as it sped towards Lao-Shi. But that was not all. He was not one to underestimate an opponent, rather, he had always believed that every person he would fight had equal importance and should be given due respect. Thus, he took a few more steps, spinning and flailing his arms in a rhythmic motion as he whipped more arcs in the shape of a cross, three in total as they rushed towards the enemy. Hopefully, from its strength, it could even destroy the illusion that he was in.

Clear was a little surprised to see San openly summon like that. He usually did so without uttering a word, the process he used still a mystery to Clear up to that day. Still, he thought it would be sane to follow San at that point in time, although he didn't feel the urgency like San did. He was strangely calm, he didn't feel any hostility from the man and he also had the feeling that he wasn't an enemy. Clear couldn't put it into words, it was rare that he defied his logic and instead followed his heart. But this whole situation didn't feel like it was planned against him in the slightest. First of all, it would be too soon for anyone to be after them, Clear strongly believed that. They boarded the train immediately after Jerred's escape. It would take some time for him to inform the culprit and also get someone ready to go after them. Considering how that person would have had to be in the train in the ten minute span it took them to get to the station, he deduced that this man was no enemy. But even if he wasn't an enemy, even if San was overreacting and the man meant no harm, he was no friend either. They had no reason to waste their time on this person.

Clear jumped out of the wagon after San and onto the bridge, followed by Kuilei who was last. So San's plan was to merely distract his opponent while they got away, simple but effective. The moment the group stepped on the bridge, Clear expected it to sway under their weight. Then he remembered that said bridge could support the weight of the entire train WITH them on it. It would make no sense for the bridge to give in under the weight of the people already on it. That would be like expecting an item to become heavier once taken outside its box, not happening. The group was now headed towards Oshibana on foot, their train wagon left behind with the red-haired man and tiger still on it. Such a weird turn of events this was, it was much more flashy than anything their pursuers would likely attempt. And that was when Clear realized what he felt wrong all that time. "That's it! That's why I have been feeling something off all this time. Jerred's mission was to erase my mother and me from existence, is that not right? So there's likely something we know that his employer doesn't want the rest of the world to know. Do you understand what I'm getting at?" Clear told San, pausing briefly.

"The whole point was that the mission be carried out in secrecy. Nobody was to know my mother was murdered, that's why Jerred had to alter people's memories. If that is the case, why would they send someone after us on the train? It makes no sense, there are tens of people on the train, all of them unrelated to the incident. There's no way they had the time to replace everyone on the train with their people, that's just not happening. My whole point is, I'm fairly certain that man has nothing to do with the people after us. Sure, our wagon was severed in a way that we would be left alone with him. That seems pretty suspicious, don't you think? But someone will inevitably return here to check, it's still not the best place for an assassination. We should still keep our guard up, but I'm saying that we shouldn't attack that man with no reason. For all we know, he might even be a complete stranger, a civilian even." Clear explained to San. His reasoning might have some flaws in it, but it made sense for the most part. And unless their pursuer had complete confidence he could dispatch of them quickly before anyone arrived, they wouldn't pick this place to hold a fight.

San grunted in obvious displeasure. "Secrecy? There was no one sitting in our car at all, if you failed to notice earlier," the undead mage stated, his thoughts coming to mind. "If a bit of an accident occurs with a train on a bridge, but no one gets even injured, people will pay no mind to it; it would not be a matter of replacing the people on the train, but simply making certain that no one on the train sits near us. What with Lamia Scale being a legal guild, and a highly thought-of one at that, I will not put it past them to have mages with abilities permitting such a thing. It would be as simple as an illusion directing other passengers to the frontal cars." All the while he spoke, he was walking forwards, and behind the two of them Kuilei was also following, albeit a bit slower - he was more worried about falling over than they were, and with good reason for it.

San sighed; despite his counterargument, Clear's own words also had a logic of its own. "Say this then," he thought aloud. "If he is an innocent, perhaps a normal civilian, then what do you recommend our course of action being? To kill him as fast as possible? To drag him in into this wild goose chase without knowing whether he will be of help or hindering? Neither option sounds impressive to me, and this delay is already taking away valuable time." By now, he was almost at the edge of the bridge, and suddenly turned around. "Say this then - if you wish to go back and talk to him, I will stay here and keep watch, and if anything out of the ordinary happens I will call upon my magic. If not, we will simply continue traveling on foot. Either way, I personally have no desire to get any closer to them than I am now," he flatly stated, looking over Clear to where the train was; he could still see the shape that was the Tiger on the roof.

In the train, the Sage had a ghost of a smile on his face. "I am an artist, not a fighter," he slowly said, as if an exasperated teacher rebuking a student. "Though I am by no means proud of the haste and lack of respect the youth of modern days possess." As he spoke, and the flames rushed upon him, the Sage quickly rose his brush - and vanished. In appearance, it would look as if he melted into ink, which somehow shrunk into itself before completely disappearing. As he did so, the walls around them followed suit, turning into puddles that also quickly dissipated, leaving absolutely nothing behind. Of course, outside, San noticed this, and made an annoyed "Tsk," sound. "Distraction is over. Make your mind up with haste, Clear."

The cross arc flames breach through the ink illusion and seemingly burst through the front door of the coach as well. With everything going back to normal, Riven found himself in a slightly burned coach. He clicked his tongue at the sudden involvement to some highly obscure and dangerous scene.

"And here I was hoping to get some slack from all the running and taxing and complicated ventures," he said with a tilt of the head to the side, a soft cracking sound and his seeming stiff-neck was still there.

He began walking towards the blazing front door of the coach that was no longer existing with a few decorative flames hanging along the door frame and some of the leather seats. The smell of burnt leather was never amusing, so he furrowed his brows as he pinched his nose as he walked through. Finally stepping outside the burnt frame, he paused for a moment to look up to the sky and take in a good breather of fresh air. The wind blowing against him was always a nice feeling. Then his eyes looked on and found a group of people on the tracks up ahead. They were seemingly on the edge. He smirked and got down from the coach, taking a few steps for a moment before something struck him.

"Ah. You thought you could hide from me, eh?" he said out loud and if the others would have known better, he wasn't talking to them. "Hiding is futile."

Then, he turned back to glance at the blue and white tiger who was clinging by the edge of the coach's rood, seemingly trying to hide despite the obvious lack of obstacle that could hide him from view. And Tyki gave a short remorseful groan. The two exchanged a long stare before Riven raised his hand and motioned for the tiger to get over to him. Tyki shook his head though he seemed afraid. Riven tried again but Tyki growled this time, though not in an aggressive growl but more like a fearful one. At which Riven shrugged and raised his arm towards the coach, a rare reddish flame began to engulf his hand and Tyki quickly rose to his feet.

"Get. Down. Now." Riven said and before he could say anymore Tyki had jumped down and went towards him, tackling him onto the tracks and seemingly… snuggling him. "Owww oww owww!" And Riven was done for because Tyki was using his secret technique to calm the flame mage.

<Riven! I'm so sorry! I only meant to get food for you!> Tyki said by sending the thought waves to the other's head and licked Riven's face before he finally looked up and saw that Clear and company were still there. <By the way, they're quite the strange group. Can I eat the rock fella?> He said finally walked past Riven to allow the flame mage to stand back up, albeit a little flustered and his hair all whacked.

"Huh? Group?" and then Riven set his eyes on the weird bunch once more. "Oh yeah, you dared to use that cheap trick summon on me, didn't you?" he said, eyes locked on San, "Quite the greeting, I would say. If you want to fight then you should have said so earlier." And so, Riven and Tyki now stood parallel to the other group and the tension in the air was still the same if not a little more dangerous.

San did raise a valid counter-argument, but Clear still had this hunch. "No, you've misunderstood my words completely San. I never meant for us to befriend him or kill him. If he's a civilian with no connection to us, simply leave him be. Ignore him." Clear said to San in return. About that time, an arc of flames burs through the train's wagon and along with it the red haired man left it. The next scene was a little strange, as the man seemed to give commands to the tiger from before like a father did to his son. So this tiger was his own, after all. This made things easier, there were no longer two unknown adversaries, it was simply a duo of... whatever origin they had. The man then proceeded to provoke them for attacking him and picked a fight. Strange. If one looked at this rationally, if this man was sent after them he wouldn't act that way. He would have simply tried to kill them as secretly as he could, not go to all these lengths. This further fueled Clear's argument, this man had nothing to so with them. But it never hurt to be on the safe side, and Clear had a little idea on how to confirm things. "Just play along." he whispered to San and then turned towards the red hair.

"Nope, we're not picking a fight. It was your tiger that did that in the first place by walking around the train like that. Our bad." Clear said with an indifferent tone and turned his back to the man. He didn't lower his guard yet, the man might have been acting all along and plan to attack them during this confusion. But if he did that he would be at a serious numerical disadvantage. "Now we just walk away like nothing ever happened. Judging from his reaction we can determine whether he's friend or foe. If he attacks us, well, that kind of proves the point." Clear whispered to San once more. Thinking back at the previous events, Clear started formulating a plan to account for any possible scenarios after that. So the man was a fire mage, the crimson flames that erupted out of the wagon were proof enough of that. Seriously, what's with fire mages and blowing things up? It's like those people had some screw loose in their heads. Was their magic causing them to be like that or was it the other way around? Quite the curious phenomenon, Clear would have to investigate this one day. "Oh, and for the record, you're paying for all that." Clear turned and said to the man one last time while pointing to the wrecked train.

Yep, Clear was definitely making him pay for all that. There was no way he was going to shoulder another person's damages, nor was he letting him get away with this after he hindered their travel. Now they had to walk the rest of the way to Oshibana, that was going to take them at least an hour. Sighing, Clear started walking away from the scene of destruction and soon left the bridge. It would be safe to assume something dangerous was going to happen to them if they stayed on it much longer. Especially with a pyromaniac and his pet so close to them. On another note, how the hell did that man get a tiger as a pet? Clear then glanced at his own back where Suina was staying quietly and dismissed the question. His own pet was some kind of humanoid water spirit, not exactly what one would expect to even meet in their life, much less have it as their own pet. And San's was, well, one didn't even need to comment on Kuilei. Weird pets seemed to attract themselves to mages, that's the conclusion Clear came up with. There was also Yovel and his giant bird, those were definitely also not a normal pair. "We mages are weird." Clear muttered in a low voice.

San looked at Riven for no less than a full minute, observing and making as many inferences about the man from his first impression as possible. Appears like an ordinary troublesome figure of the modern youth, check. Speaks in a manner lacking both respect to the elderly and a challenging demeanor that signifies the traditional defiance of authority and support of anarchy, check. Possesses a relation to the previously encountered beast attempting for our assassination, check and check. This leads to a single conclusion... San sighed, and muttered under his breath while allowing Clear to take the stage in addressing the man. "Kuilei, what are your thoughts on that man right there?" The golem, by now standing on the other side of the bridge, whispered back to San. "He looks kind of scary. If you told me he was an assassin, I don't think I'd have trouble believing you." "Close enough. Judging by what little I have seen of this man, I daresay he is...a rowdy scoundrel, chances are from some strange organization of sorts." Not like San had any idea about the man's identity; these were his mere inferences from first impressions.

Clear's means of dealing with him was not expected, but San played along indeed - he even turned around only a mere second after the water mage did, and followed behind him with the golem obediently in tow. "Well, if we were ordinary, we would not be mages, would we?" San replied back in an equally quiet whisper. "Besides, this unorthodox behavior in...everything, pretty much, is what makes mages any better than normal civilians. Imagine, how absurd it would be if say, Hasaki chose to take his flames and become a mere blacksmith, or if that deranged Oberon attempted to become a normal everyday courier - it might work out, but even now as I state it the idea sounds absurd. Speaking of which," the undead mage was tempted to turn his head around, but resisted it and continued to walk near Clear away from the scene. "Something tells me this is not the last we will see from that man back there. I have half a mind to believe he wants to impale us with blades or fire sparks of lightning or meteors of flame at us, or something equally detrimental to your health."

Kuilei decided to join in on the conversation, though unlike San, he had no idea why they had so suddenly simply turned around and left; he was half-certain that a fight was about to brew up, so Clear's means of dealing with the situation completely confused him. "Uhhh...Master San, Clear, why are we just walking away? What if he tries to shoot something at us or sic that blue thing on us?" A half-smile appeared on San's face, when he heard the worry. "Well, Kuilei, you are the one standing furthest in the back. Your body is composed of stones animated with magic. Add one and one together, and what do you get?" San seemed to have no problem telling the golem he was essentially a meatshield - or perhaps, just a shield - at the moment.

((OOC: so sorry for delay vilis, cryo *hugs*))

Riven paused as he looked at the bridge, looking somewhat confused when the party he first thought to be the aggressors seemed to be somewhat less hostile now, turning around and even walking away. Of course, the idea of the golem going behind them all made Riven a bit cautious since it was quite obvious that it was some magical creature and who knows what could suddenly happen. Then again, the boy from earlier was a little suspicious when he first insisted that they were mere ordinary travelers having such weird sense of luck and caught up in a terrible accident that got their train coach stopping in the middle of the suspension bridge.

But you see, Riven felt like he and Tyki just got ignored. He looked on with sharp eyes as Tyki did the same. For a good long while the group had already started moving away while the redhead and the tiger merely looked on. Then, they started walking as well. Fine, treat it as a mere coincidence then - he thought, putting his hands into the pocket of his jacket as he walked. Tyki followed behind him, trying to make sure he wouldn't unexpectedly fall out from the side of the bridge. In any case, the two followed the group and Riven knew that they were quite well aware of their presence. He was slightly curious at how the group managed to try and veer away from escalating the situation into a giant fight despite the red garbed man's earlier action. It only meant one thing - they were highly suspicious and wanted to keep a low profile.

Quicker Riven began walking, his long strides almost eating up the distance between him and Tyki and the group. Of course, there was the problem with the golem but he quickly got to walk side by side with the rock creature. He gave it a good long glance and grinned at it before looking onwards and walking on. Tyki followed and did the same thing, looking up at Kuilei and flashing his bright mega-watt smile of fangs before continuing walking. Needless to say, Riven was going to follow them since they seem to be on the same path. "Ah,Oshibana!" he uttered, "Wonder if things changed since I last been there."

Things took a rather unexpected turn as the stranger decided to follow them without saying a word. This was not exactly how Clear had planned it, this was letting them know nothing about the man's real intentions. Not only that, his quick strides soon let him get next to the group and he kept walking next to them like it was the most natural thing in the world. This bugged Clear to no end, but there wasn't much he could do about it. After all, he was the one who suggested they don't attack the man, he couldn't just turn back on that. But this was feeling more dangerous by the moment, with the distance between them closed like this, if the man was actually an assassin he had every chance to attack. So Clear did the most natural thing he could think of. He moved away from the man while still being rather close to him. That way he could observe him better in case he did anything strange. Since they had gotten off the bridge they were now in a rather vast grassland with plenty of space to spare. Anything that happened would be clearly seen by anyone in the group. For his part, Clear kept calm and acted as naturally as possible, they were pretending to be regular travelers at the moment.

The walk towards Oshibana was rather long and boring, it would take them at least half an hour if they walked quickly without taking breaks. Clear didn't like the awkward silence that was hanging around the air, so he decided to make some small talk. Perhaps the man would let some information slip while he chatted with them, although that seemed highly unlikely. "So, you say you have been to Oshibana in the past? Just for the record, not much has changed in the past ten years or so. It's still the same small and quiet town it always was. The people haven't changed, the buildings haven't changed, it's almost like nothing ever happens in that town. No, it most likely doesn't." Clear stated about the town. He was not the best person to talk about it, even though it was his hometown he barely knew anything about it. But from the little things he knew, there had been no vast changes in it. He would have immediately noticed if some new building had been erected, if some kind of prominent figure moved in to town. Generally, nothing of high importance had happened so Clear deduced that nothing much had changed. But he had no idea when the last time that man had been there was, he looked a little older than Clear so if it was during his time as a really young kid it was possible that many changed had taken place from his perspective.

The plains around them were quiet, a little too quiet. Sure, there weren't supposed to be that many wild animals around, and they were too far from the town for any human to be there, but it was still strange. There should have at least been some signs of an investigation about the lost train carriages, but there was nothing in sight. This made Clear more suspicious about the man's identity, it would have been easy for them to plan things in a way that there would be nobody coming to get in their way. There was still the possibility that they didn't notice because there weren't that many people riding on those carriages, although such a thing going missing is not something you wouldn't notice. The other simple conclusion Clear arrived at was that they simply did not have the people to send and were waiting for a party to be formed. Oshibana was a rather small and quiet town with its share of trouble, but things usually moved slowly in it. So yeah, it would take a pretty long time for the train station to get organized and start looking for what happened. "But was it seriously that difficult to send someone to look at what happened? Strange..." Clear thought.

San's words rendered his golem extremely uneasy, and the golem would have sweated cold sweat had he and sweat glands to do so; but still, San's word was law, so the golem complied by walking behind San and Clear, his body automatically positioning itself as a barricade in case something decided to make a beeline towards his master or to Clear - he had no desire to let Clear or Suina get hurt, though which one he was more worried about was debatable. Why do I have a bad feeling about this? I want to tell San, but he's probably even less enthusiastic about them than I am... So of course, one couldn't blame Kuilei for internally freaking out when the red-haired man and his blue tiger quickened their pace to walk past him, and he saw clearly when flashed a suspicious grin, the tiger baring its own fangs at him.

San himself wasn't much better; after all, he was the one who came up with all of the aforementioned worst-case scenarios, so of course he would be the one most concerned about the man and his feline beast companion. Seeing the situation right now, with the two of them cutting in between himself and Kuilei, his number-one meat (or rather, stone) shield was unavailable; so, being the prudent man he was, he simply stopped in his tracks, letting them all walk in front of him, and didn't pick up his feet until he was right next to the golem, in the back of this strange parade. "Any conclusions?" he softly whispered, once he had determined he was close enough for the golem to hear him. "The key is Lan; remove one and the other one is broken," the golem replied in an equal voice, throwing in bits of a foreign language. "But we're in a fieldlands, Master San - too public, too difficult to do here. But then, if we get to Oshibana...a trap, perhaps?"

San walked silently for a few moments, pondering the golem's words. "I would not be surprised if that were so; perhaps, Lan and company are the heads or the scouts of such a group, does that not seem possible?" The golem nodded, taking a look at Clear and the red-haired man and his tiger every few moments. "If this is a multiple part plan, I think they did it well - but then, what should we ourselves do?" San thought for a bit more before replying. "Simple. Clear is the greatest priority at the moment; we did, after all, come out here only of his bidding. I cannot help but ponder, had the Kaelian been here right now, how the situation would turn out. Most likely far more violently. Perhaps it could go well. It is a shame that I never had the time to assess his magic and potential." The golem noted that he was moving on to another topic, and followed suit. "Then we should seize the opportunity to, shouldn't we? For example, say - have you done so for the other members of the guild?"
