OOC Clear woke up in his room like any other day. Nothing special had happened the day before and nothing special was going to happen today. With the slight exception that Clear was planning on going on a D-Class mission that day. He knew it was nothing to be excited about, most of them were lame babysitting missions, or asked the mages to find some sort of item for them or something. Still, a job is a job so Clear got ready, picked up Suina and headed for the guild hall. Ignoring the usual bustling of people in the bar, he moved towards the request board and took a look at it. "Babysitting, picking up flowers, finding a lost pendant, cleaning a yard... why are all D-Class missions so lame?" Clear mumbled as he went through the list of missions. None of them seemed even remotely interesting, so he had to settle for the one that wasn't completely idiotic. Getting back an item that was 'stolen' as a prank, and prank the thief in return... Frankly, Clear had no interest in pranking people and the like, but he had to decide on one mission. Picking up the request paper, he looked around the place for anyone that could accompany him. Not that he needed any help with this thing. Ideally, he could ask Kenji, but he doubted that he was there at the time. Kaelian... let's just say he wanted to ignore that man. Ryo and Oberon, those two were their own team and not to mention they could cause all sorts of weird trouble for him. So the only logical choice that remained was San. Yeah, going on a mission with San would be a really cool thing. At that time, Suina popped up and looked at Clear confused. "What are you doing? Aren't we going out?" she asked. "I need one more person with me, just in case." he replied calmly. "I am another person, take me!" "You don't count, it has to be a human." Clear sighed at her response, still as childish as ever. Although San, human, that was a slight contradiction itself. Sure San might have once been human, but he was dead. Do undead people count as humans? Clear started wondering about that and soon found himself absorbed in his thoughts. He would have to meet more of them to ascertain whether that statement is correct or not. And San acted completely like a human, even if his mannerisms weren't exactly kind or nice to other people. Edited by Vilis, Sep 14 2012, 07:36 AM.

San, unsurprisingly, was sitting on a stool next to the counter, having his daily trial of endurance - and, upon examination, it would appear that this day would be just like any other. His gourd in his right hand, his expressionless face, the same flavor seeping through his mouth; one couldn't help save wonder what sort of person was he, to drink so much in the morning. "Nothing," San was muttering to himself, shaking his head. "Don't even feel a hint of numbness. The flavor's disappearing too. Maybe this is happening because I do it too much?" And, of course, next to him was a certain large stone figure, looking upon its master's actions with a concerned face. "Master San, must you torment yourself daily?" the golem was asking, its back turned to Clear; both of them were, so neither could see him at the moment. In fact, chances were that they assumed themselves to be alone. "Have you ever considered..." the golem paused, uncertain. "...staying sober?" The undead mage immediately shook his head. "Not a chance. Fact is, living without needing things simply makes one feel deprived. You've yet to ever actually eat, sleep, or drink out of necessity before, so you've no idea how it feels. It's simply...numb. One does not get the pleasure out of food and drink as greatly as they were before; to compare it, Kuilei, it'd be as if you had to live the rest of your life out without your attunement to the natural elements." "I really have no idea how to consider that, Master San," the golem admitted, after a few moments of thought. "The birds and the beasts have never ran from me, so I have no idea how it feels like. I'd imagine that it would be unpleasant?" San merely grunted, taking a large swig. "Most definitely." He leaned back while drinking, and caught from the corner of the eye another figure's presence. Finally, he turned around, noticing Clear standing there. "And what are you doing at this time of day in the guild hall, Clear?" San greeted immediately, skipping the formalities. "Scavenging for food? Someone left a nice large loaf of some sort of pastry here, and I've only consumed half of it, if you want the rest." Forget the fact that the "pastry" was several weeks old. San's taste buds were, at the moment, slightly degenerated, to say the least. |

Clear was broken out of his daydreaming when San called out to him. Looking at the food San suggested he eat, he had some trouble hiding his disgust. "Um, thanks but I'll pass. I already had breakfast in my room." Clear replied nonchalantly. That statement was true, he had already had breakfast which was a good excuse besides the obvious reason as to why he didn't want to eat that bread. The members of Tartaros were really irresponsible at times, who the hell leaves a loaf of break at the bar for so many days? There were clear signs of mold on it, and it was not the kind of mold that grew after forgetting a piece of food for a week. Ignoring the bread completely, Clear switched his focus to San. "I see you're drinking here like usual. Since it doesn't look like you have anything important to do, would you mind accompanying me in a mission? It's kind of a boring one and I'm sure you would rather stay here than help me retrieve an ocarina, but we have to do some work from time to time, you know?" Clear asked. Honestly, he didn't like the idea of this mission either, but he had to work up his way somehow. And if that meant doing completely menial tasks like this, he would do them. "I'll brief you on the mission whether you agree to come with me or not. Even your opinion on it would be useful. And since you're a more experienced member than me you might have some advice for me? Anyway, there's this guy in Coreopsis who lost his ocarina. He's certain it was taken by one of his friends and he says he has an idea of who might have taken it. In short, we are to go and retrieve his ocarina for him and 'punish' the one who took it with a prank of some sort. This is actually the first mission I'm going on so I was thinking that first I should go to my client and ask for more information. Like, who the one he thinks stole the ocarina is, where they live, those things. Do you have anything to point out?" Clear started rambling on and on about the mission, although he had a hunch that San was going to accept coming with him. If anything, Kuilei was going to persuade him. Suina was with Clear, that gave the golem an incentive to follow him. And he always seemed to drag San to places and situations he didn't like, making him act responsible and the like. And doing some work was precisely the thing that screamed responsible. |

Fortunately for Clear - and entirely unfortunately for San - the hunch the young mage had was precisely correct. San, upon hearing Clear's request, paused to consider the options. "I..." he began, trying to think of something comprehensible to say. "...am no master of location. If anything, I am one of the most likely to get lost, of all the members of the guild." A moment's hesitation, as he considered something. "Actually, not so much. Judging from what some of the lesser members of the guild have said that's caught my ears, supposedly the Wildfire himself also burns with no set course, if you understand what I mean." He refilled his gourd yet again, unaware that, beside him, Kuilei was most obviously staring at Suina. When San finished refilling, and was about to drink once more, the golem finally spoke up. "Master San?" it asked, causing the undead mage to freeze mid-drink. Of course, San knew what the golem was about to do. A thousand curses upon you, Kuilei. A thousand curses. But, he couldn't simply ignore the golem. Putting down his gourd, he turned to the golem. "Yes, Kuilei?" San asked, coldly. The golem got the hint, but was unfazed due to the presence of certain others. "Clear is right, though. We have nothing of importance to do today, and since he's already offering to let us accompany him on a task, why not? Besides, he's searching for a lost object. Wouldn't it be easier for him as well, if we were to assist? Four beings can search at four times the speed of one, and then we can all return to the guild being all the richer and wiser with the experience." Yup, Clear's hunch was way too correct; the golem talked smoothly, but even San knew that what Kuilei said wasn't his real intention. But he couldn't deny the logic behind the golem's words. Ten thousand curses, I hope to rain upon you, accursed golem, San crankily thought, though he said nothing. Looking up, he saw the expectant face of the golem; turning around, he saw Clear and Suina, waiting for a reply. Absolutely silent, he turned his head back and forth, noticing no change in appearance in all of them, before finally sighing. "I will come, I will come," he stated, resignedly raising himself out of the chair. "Before my conscience kills me." Sanding up, he motioned for Kuilei to follow, and turned to Clear. "But you've already got this one figured out, haven't you? Hurry, to the house of whoever that mission requester was. The faster we get this done, the better." |

Clear smiled slightly when San said he would accompany him, the two of them had strangely become friends. Although their friendship was nothing of the ordinary, and the comical exchanges between San and his golem were always hilarious. Unfortunately though, San didn't have any advice for Clear, not that this mission required much thought. "Okay then, to our client's house it is. The address is written on the request, it shouldn't be too hard to find it. I can find my way around the places I have been to before." Clear said somewhat cheerfully, his words bearing no ill will or mockery. Some people had trouble finding their way around, he knew that and didn't make fun of others for such a reason. Turning his back to San and Kuilei to head for the guild's exit, Clear didn't realize that Suina had surfaced from his gourd and was looking at Kuilei intently. Part sleepiness, part her previous exchange with Clear made her remain silent and she didn't greet Kuilei or San. You could say she was jealous of the two for being asked by Clear to accompany him, he never asked her to go with him. Thought Clear was oblivious to what was happening. The group was once again walking through the streets of Coreopsis like they had done on a couple more occasions in the past. Attracting the most attention was Kuilei, like usual, but the people of the city had somehow gotten used to him a little. Most of them simply ignored the bunch as something completely common. Clear had also taken off his hood, something he always did in Coreopsis now. And they were going to meet a client, he couldn't go around hiding his face. After walking for several minutes, they arrived at their client's house. It was a seemingly ordinary house like any other in Coreopsis, one of a middle-class citizen. Clear approached it and simply knocked on the door. Footsteps could be heard from the other side and the door opened to reveal a man standing there. He was wearing a green hood and green outfit, his hair was blonde and he looked at the group with curiosity. "Hello, how may I help you?" he asked politely. "Good morning, I'm looking for Tim, the one who posted this request. Are you perhaps him?" Clear replied politely. "I most certainly am, come in, come in." the man beckoned them all to enter his house. |

"Kuilei, stay outside," San instinctively said; the golem, obviously, could not fit through the door. That didn't mean Kuilei couldn't complain about it, though, and the golem stood there in front of the entrance unhappily. "But, Master San-" "I'm not paying for collateral damage this time." Sighing as he was shut down so swiftly, the golem moved to the side and stood there in front of the house, a temporary guardian. With that settled, San followed the man- Tim, did he call himself? - into the house, looking around out of curiosity; it was really, a very plain home, the likes of which San had never entered. To the undead mage, it was foreign as San's homeland would be to others. As they entered the living room area, Tim beckoned towards the couches. "Please, take a seat while I prepare some refreshments," the host politely said; the house had a combined kitchen-dining-living room area, though, so even as San took a seat on the closest chair he could find, an unimpressive green seat, he could see Tim taking something out of the refrigerator. Do most Fioreans live like this? he wondered to himself. These houses are like giant boxes- off-track, I am getting. The mission, do not forget the mission. So, he opened his mouth. "We are of the understanding, that you have lost a certain instrument valuable to yourself?" the undead mage asked, to which the man nodded. "Describe it in greater detail; the appearance, notable qualities, potential locations, and, of course, suspects of theft." Blunt, and immediately to the point. Meanwhile, outside, a certain golem was being covered by a local flock of ravens, who had somehow decided that large mobile stone figures made for ideal places to rest; Kuilei didn't oppose them, but of course even the children nearby were staring at it with mixed emotions. |

Clear and San entered Tim' house at his request and both took a seat in his living room. San wasted no time in asking the essential questions as Clear would have expected. Tim shortly returned with a glass of water for each of them. "The item I have lost is my precious ocarina, one my father had given me as a present. There's nothing much to note about it, it's a blue musical instrument. It's oval with many holes so music can be played and one side extends outwards so you can blow in it. I have searched my entire house and I have been unable to find it, that's why I filed a request with your guild. As for the possible locations, there is one person I suspect. He is a friend of mine, well, more like a rival of mine. He's always liked to play pranks on me and lately he has been avoiding me, that's why I think it's him. His name is Ganondork and he lives just a few blocks away, let me write down his address for you." Clear listened closely as Tim explained the details of the mission. He then got up and scribbled down an address on a piece of paper. "So like I state in my request, please retrieve my ocarina for me, I'm sure he's hiding it somewhere in his house." Clear received the piece of paper from Tim, memorized the address and put it in his pocket. "And as for the payback you state, is there anything in particular you have in mind? Any item in specific you would like us to take back?" Clear asked Tim. "No, there's not really anything in particular, anything you find that seems of value will work. Of course, I'm not planning on keeping it forever, I'll return it to him in due time. Is there anything else?" Time replied. Clear thought for a second and nothing came to mind. "No, that will be all. We will retrieve your ocarina for sure." Clear slightly bowed to Tim and moved towards the exit. Suina waved at the man happily and he was kind of taken aback by the peculiar creature but he waved back at her. When outside, Clear turned to San. "Okay, so, we sneak into this house, search for the ocarina and anything else that looks valuable and we bring them both back to Tim. Sounds simple enough, shall we get going?" Clear pointed towards the direction of Ganondork's house, at least where he remembered his address should be based on his knowledge of the city's streets which admittedly wasn't the best. |

"That would require that the man not be at home, for optimal success," San replied, following Clear. Taking in mind all that Tim had said, he waved for Kuilei to follow him absentmindedly, which of course the golem was more than happy to oblige. "It's...what now, morning, late morning?" he asked, thinking aloud. "There's a high chance he's not home, which makes this infinitely easier, but if he is, there will need to be a distraction to lure him out, and keep him out," the undead mage considered, trying to think up a plan. "If nothing else, I can actually utilize Kuilei for something, hm." Obviously, Kuilei wasn't too keen on distracting someone while everyone else dug through the house, and objected. "Master San, wouldn't it be easier for us to simply knock on the door, and have one of the two of you inside the house keeping him occupied, while the other one searches through the house? I mean, I don't know about Clear, but your magic is practically designed for something like this." San grimaced, upon hearing Kuilei's logical suggestion. "Unfortunately, you are correct. It would probably be most advantageous if we did that, if he were home." At this point, he wasn't even taking any care of where he was going; he was merely walking to the side of and slightly behind Clear, trusting the younger mage to get them there. "In that case, if we go, and he is at home, it would be easy: I would enter first, and alone, to occupy him by some means, presumably deeper inside the house. From the interior, I will have someone open an entrance, which you, Clear, will pass through and rummage through the house for the desired items. You have Suina, who I presume will help quicken the search. Kuilei, on the other hand, will be outside standing guard in case of anything suspicious." He rose his fingers, counting something out. "If myself, Kuilei, Clear, Suina, and an assistant...we can complete it in a five-being mission, I presume?" He stopped moving, finally looking around. "Speaking of which - where are we?" |

San's plan sounded good, it took everything into consideration from Ganondork's location to how they were going to infiltrate his house and everything. "What do you mean 'Where are we?', it's obvious that we're on our way to Ganondork's house. We are still in Coreopsis. Is something the matter with the street?" Clear replied to San's last question, looking around him for anything out of the ordinary. Nope, they were still in a normal street in Coreopsis, nothing out of the ordinary. "Anyway, let's keep these plan for after we figure out if he's there or not. Considering Tim was at home when we went looking for him, the same should be true for Ganondork. Let's just assume he will be there for now." Clear stated. Taking into account what San said, he was probably going to summon someone to keep Ganondork occupied while they sneaked in his house somehow. Considering it's a normal house there shouldn't be too much security or anything similar, the back door would be the perfect place to enter the house from. Or any window could work, everyone keeps an unlocked window at home unless they're some kind of criminal hiding from the authorities. After several minutes of walking the group finally reached the address Tim gave them. The house was exactly like Clear expected it to be, a completely ordinary house like any other in Coreopsis. They were dealing with common civilians after all, not rich folk. "We are here, this is undoubtedly the house we're looking for. Considering what you said before, you're going to summon someone to keep Ganondork occupied should he happen to be home? Let's look around the house a bit first, see if there's an entrance we can use." Clear told San before glancing at Kuilei. "And I guess Kuilei will wait for us here? He attracts too much attention and if he were to come with us somebody would notice him for sure." Clear then went around to the back of the house, examining its structure and taking in all of the information he could. There were a couple of windows on the side, any one of them could be easily used to enter the house. When he got to the back of the house he found a door, it probably led to the kitchen or some kind of storage room. But they had now found several possible places of entry. |

"You ought to go on ahead to do so, Clear; I will see if anyone is home immediately," San said, turning to Kuilei. "And you - stay right where you are and keep an eye out for anyone passing by, especially for people like Knights. The last thing we need is a squad of naive but gung-ho swordsmen raining down in the middle of such a discreet operation," the undead mage commanded, to which the golem nodded. "I can do that, yes," Kuilei confirmed, looking around immediately. "But...won't I look suspicious like this myself?" he added, thinking about the worst case scenario. San seemed to already have that covered, though; "No, stay here in the front yard, tuck yourself next to a corner of the house, put yourself in a comfortable position, and stay like that; from experience, people will naturally discern you to be a mere piece of scenery," San answered; Kuilei followed suit. With a warning to Clear - "Stay hidden, do you hear?" - San walked up to the front of the house, and, looking around to make sure that if anyone came to greet him both Clear and Kuilei would be out of immediate visual range, went straight to the front door, ringing the doorbell several times. He didn't have to wait long. Within several seconds, someone opened the door: a massive orange-haired figure, with strangely colored skin and clothes completely black. He was, to say the least, nothing like his friend Tim. "And you are? No, I don't want any toothbrushes, towels, annual subscriptions to Sorcerer's Weekly, or inflatable pineapple-glazed chicken," the man immediately blurted out, much to San's annoyance. How does on inflate pineapple-glaze chicken? Ignoring it, the undead mage opened his mouth, a prepared speech in mind. "Excuse me, you must be the one who requested the introductory magic lessons?" he asked. Much to his own surprise, the man immediately nodded, and without a moment's hesitation took San by the sleeve and dragged him into the house. "Finally! Took you long enough, making me wait all six months! I thought you people were a scam, asking for a donation of ten thousand Jewels and then disappearing like that! Hurry up and come in, there's a lot you have to teach me!" By the heavens, how did this actually work...? Clear, wherever you are, you better find a way in fast- the door's unlocked! |
