OOC: Even if you tell Comma that you can't rejuvenate yourself infinitely with the life magic, she will stubbornly still believe that she can outsmart the Queen Dragon. OOCily, I understand that I can't make her ageless with this, but ICily, Comma will continue believing what she believes. This is also why Comma believes that she can have Math and Life magic at the same time ICly, dispite OOCily thats impossible due to tiers and stuffs. Comma was perplexed as the dragon gave her the instructions and simply left. In an attempt to reach her, she yelled to the roof of the cave, as if so Astrea could hear her. IF YOU CAN ALWAYS SEE ME, WHAT SENSE DOES IT MAKE FOR YOU TO DISAPPEAR? LIKE, YOU CAN HEAR ME NOW, CAN'T YOU? WHAT DIFFERANCE IS THERE BETWEEN BEING RIGHT HERE LIKE A PROPER PERSON AND BEING IN HOCUS POCUS LAND SPYING ON ME, YOU PERVERT?! Commas shook her body in rage and directed another shout the the omnipresent dragon. AND WHAT SENSE DOES THIS "TASK" HAVE TO CONTRIBUTE WITH GAINING THE MAGIC? COULDN'T YOU JUST JOLT ME UP WITH THE MAGIC JUST LIKE THAT? Unless. The dragon wasn't as omniscient as she thought. Assuming that the task had sense, and that it was necessary, then the information obtainable by the execution of the task was epistemologically unique. Comma reached this conclusion, and snickered. She then wrote down as quickly as she could the instructions she was given, and then tired something unorthodox, but common in Commas mindset. "You'll know it when you see it, eh...?" To Know: to have established or fixed in the mind or memory... So, if I manage to trick myself into thinking that I've found the source of magic and I believe such information, then I would have found the target. So, I can complete this first stage by finding hallucinogenics, or by finding the magic source itself. She then ventured out onto the surface, and once outside, she spoke to the skies again to attempt to "communicate" with Astrea. People that might be seeing her might consider her to be crazy, but Comma didn't care. 'YO, DRAGON! I'm outside. What now? |

There was no response. It would not be that easy. Her use of knowledge was used in a literal sense not the figurative or proverbial as Astrea had meant. Thus the logic had been flawed. Comma would just have to start looking. |

Well, nothing. I can't do anything without information, dragon. What do I have to do? Look for it? K. I'll go look for some friggin clues. And after saying that, Comma started to jog through the city, looking for something that might catch her interest. While she was running, she remembered that in the Inn, she might find some help - in exchange for a pretty penny. A source of magic - of ethernano - should be detectable by some reisdue. If its inside an hermetic structure, then she wouldn't be able to find her goal by attempting to detect it. She would have to talk to people or do something else. Seeing that she didn't have any lead whatsoever, arguendo, she assumed that the target magic was detectable. If it was a soruce of magic, its an amount of ethernano. And Ethernano is detectable. She wandered towards another dark inn, not that same one she was at before. She might run into the same unwanted company again. Once inside, she had a look around. It wasn't too crowded. Three hooded figures were having a "chat" with some other lad in a corner, and a couple was at the bar zone having a drink. She sat at one of the tall stools and she tapped the table twice to call the bartender forth instead of using her voice. Once he came around with a cup and a cloth in his hand, Comma whispered to him a lame rhyme. Hey Joe, how does it go? (Translation: Do you speak in Joe-Code?) Asking the bartender was a fairly common way to get information about the others that were at the inn, without having to get involved with them. However, you would have to leave a generous tip. Ah, Jane, how's the game? A small sip, I assume? (T: Sure I do. You're paying this service with this drink.) Comma looked to a side. She didn't like to drink, but she would have to comply with this man in order to get the data she needed, she assumed. Ugh... Sure? Do you serve decaf coff- The bartender interrupted with a jolly tone Vodka it is! |

Astrea smiled as she entered the bar after the old woman, guised differently as another older woman, though not as old as Comma maybe 35-40 in age. Taking a seat in a booth she signalled for a drink and as it arrived she nursed it slowly, staring out the window whilst listening intently on everything happening here. There was no chance of finding the information Comma needed in this bar, if anything she should have returned to the last place she had found the information where she had found the way to find Astrea. That might provide a nice first clue... |

OOC:.. lolwut. How am I supposed to know thi- I don't even-. GAH THIS IS HOGWASH! Said Comma, as she left the bar with an angry face. She didn't like the way the man was treating her, and she didn't like the fact that he might trick her. He wasn't a likebale person. She stormed out of that place, and noticed that there was a another woman in the room, besides the few that where there before. Did she have a realistic reason to interact with her in any way? Nope. So her presence was irrelevant. The old woman continued her march all the way straight towards the Town Hall. She was so angry didn't even noticed where she was going to. Perhaps it was even her senile demencia acting up again. And Bam, she was there. When she snapped out of her tantrum, she noticed that she was at this building. It should be a good idea to check this place - she suddenly assumed. She then started to look around, until she reached the receptionist. She put herself on her tip-toes to reach to the counter as she spoke to the woman. "Hello... Er. Can I find here reports about strange events in the city?" The woman looked at her from beneath her glasses. "Uhm. Yes, I guess you could. We have a few newspapers other there if you want to read something" She treated her as if she was a child. Well, most people did. She appeared to be one anyway. The ex-math mage followed her instructions with a naive spirit and strarted to look through the newspapers until she realized that any "source of magic" kind of event could have happened any moment from the instant Astrea mentioned it until the beginning of time. So, perhaps the newspaper didn't have any record of it, or perhaps, the vent wasn't registered in the lastest newspaper but in some other, older newspaper. So she was left with two possibilities. Either the "soruce of magic" is a recent event, or not a recent event. However, in either case, it would have to have been noticed by some reporter. If it hasn't been noticed by a reporter - considering how snoopy reporters are - then the source of magic would be quite hard to find. Comma assumed that she would need some way to detect the magic by her own means if she didn't find any information in the newspapers and the source of magic is a non-recent event. Until shen, she started to scan through the papers that where at the Town Hall, flipping pages quickly as she browsed. Edited by Hyphen, Dec 14 2012, 03:17 PM.

Idly watching as the old woman took the newpapers that the receptionist had given her, Astrea smiled from her hiding place and settled back to wait. Of the five newspapers available only two of those really had clues in them, and of those two both were exceptionally hard to find and one of them was, unfortunately, a red herring. And how was it that Comma could find these clues, and how would they lead her? The first newspaper with a real clue was the second of the five and the clues were a little difficult to spot. However if Comma was paying attention she may see that the first letter in each paragraph on the 2nd, 4th and 6th pages spilled out a sentence or two. And what were these sentences?
The second newpaper with a real clue was the final one of the five, the clue this time not written but drawn and photographed. On the 3rd, 5th and 7th pages within the pictures of the various stories, Astrea could be seen. On the 3rd page she was seen standing before an enormous oak tree within the center of the town, staring at its base and roots. On the 5th page she was seated within a group of people, and was flicking a lighter. On the 7th page she was standing in a doorway, tracing her finger along the interior edge. How this would apply was up to Comma's deductive powers. But of these two clues given, which was real? That too, was up to Comma's choice. |

Comma looked at the newspapers she was handed with a soulless look. She missed her clones, they woul ahve been useful now, so she muttered to herself: "All I want is you" She then read and reread them several times, until she noticed a pattern of some sort on the second newspaper. Her training in maths had given her quite a nack for noticing patterns. The mage wrote on her notebook the following message:
A bit more of analysis allowed her to find the second clue, the graphic one. Coma did the following anotations:
She started to then analyse these clues. Both seemed to be plausible. Without a reason to lean to one of them or another based on thier content, she decided to focus on the one that she understood best, the written clue. "The mightiest if this hold" was the person she had to look for. She went to the secretary as childishly asked with a sincere heart. "'Cuse me lady... Who is the mightiest of this hold?" [[OOC: Uh, dude, she can use her clones... the magic was suppressed only while she was in the cave.]] As the old lady approached the counter the receptionist blinked in curiosity and shook her head a couple of times as though clearing it. "Of... the hold?" she asked, as though the very concept of that was odd to her -which it was- and she puzzled it out for a moment before a quite obvious "oh" moment happened. "Oh, you mean the mayor? He lives in the center of the town." |

OOC1: Lolk. I'll have her notice that soon. OOC2: This post contains "I'm on a roof!!!" achievementation. Komma hopped enthusiastically a few times in a childish manner as she recieved her response. Acting like a child in a fantasy world seemed to be very compatible with the metaphorical nature of the riddles - due to that a childs innocent imagination can link figurative sense to real objects very easily. She then made another question. The Town Hall was place to get help ask for information about the city, so she said the following: "Thank you, lady! Uhm... 'Cud you tell me how to get there?" The receptionist chuckled slightly. "Oho. Oh dear. Here, look at this tourist map. This is the Town hall -where we are now. You take this road and bop-bop-bop-bop then you turn here, bop-bop-bop, and then you take this road ~~aaaall the way to the mightiest of this hold." she explained. The math mage took the map and she thanked the woman again before skipping out of the town hall. Before going anywhere, she wandered off to a high spot, the rooftop of a nearby building to check the area around the mayor's building. "must seek below the home of the mightiest of this hold, 'eh? Well. Sounds like a basement to me." After that initial scan, she walked to the buildings whereabouts, and started to analyze its security system, or any other obstacle that may stop her from getting to the basement. Perhaps the basement had a key, or the mayor had a lot of bodyguards? If so, she needed to know all about any possible setbacks before launching herself into action. |

The mayor's mansion -for it was a mansion but only in regards to the rest of the village for it was only just two-stories and it wasn't that great- was fairly under-secured in terms of everything. The front door had a pair of large men in black suits with swords at their hips but they would not let Comma in, they were the bodyguards for the mayor and he was currently at home, so security was tighter than what it would ordinarily be. Hell, normally the house would just be locked, that was it. There was a back-door though, with only a pair of young children playing at the doorway, some game involving balls and hoops. Comma would have to get over a large fence though to get there, and the boys would not likely let her in easily either so... It was Comma's call. |
