Kuilei seemed to enjoy being near Suina, and was pleasantly surprised when she leaped onto his head. "Patience, little Suina, patience - I'll find it again in due time," he said, still searching himself for the gift. Kaelian's words, though, confused him - being a golem, he'd never heard of the concept of proposing, rings, and the like. "What do you mean, Kaelian?" In the meanwhile, San was resting himself as any old man should, walking at a slow but steady pace. "I...will be fine," San whispered, one hand holding holding on to his makeshift cane, the other massaging his temples. "Give a few minutes, and balance returns." For some reason, his current dizziness rendered him considerably less dry and sardonic than he usually was, and he even thanked Suina without and questioning phrases for her actions. "Better, yes, Suina; thank you very much." He even thanked Kaelian as he accepted the bag of Taiyaki, without the smallest hint of suspicion. "Thank you, Kaelian. food works wonders for a scenario like this," he said, while the golem gave him a questioning glance - Maybe I should drag him around more often... By the time they entered the station, San had already returned to his normal state - much to Kuilei's relief and displeasure - and eaten half the bag of food, giving the rest for his golem to hold on to. "Two tickets to Oshibana," he whispered, as Jewels and passes exchanged hands. Following Clear, San wasn't even thinking when he boarded the train, before noticing the obvious issue. "Kuilei." The golem, obviously, didn't notice it at all, being preoccupied. "Yes, Master San?" "You can't go through these doors like that." The golem looked up, only to realize what San had realized. "You're right...what shall I do, then?" San, sitting down on the first seat - empty, of course - dryly responded. "Shrink yourself down or offer yourself to the conductor as free fuel, of course." Kuilei was thankfully a bit wiser than that. "I'll change to fit, and change back once I'm in, I guess," the golem stated, standing right in front of the entrance. As San looked on, Kuilei's body suddenly began shaking, much to the alarm of - well, everyone in the vicinity. "It's okay, it's okay, not an earthquake, I promise!" The golem had to reassured, and even then several people left the train, rendering it free for Clear and company to occupy. Still shaking, Kuilei's body suddenly began changing, as his angular gray rocks began molding themselves into a more humanoid shape, his limbs becoming more defined, and the blue crystals on his body turning into moss and vines that covered him instead; his back hunched down, and within moments Kuilei became a whole other kind of golem, something that looked more suitable in a swamp than as a statue in a museum. Entering the train without a problem, Kuilei quickly took his seat next to San. "Do I still have to offer myself to the conductor as fuel?" he asked, concernedly. San couldn't resist. "Yes." |

Kaelian was slightly surprised when San had answered with a rather pleasant thank you and even so pleasantly proceeded towards the train platform. He shared a brief moment of dumbstruckness with Kuilei before he figured that the golem was planning something along the lines of dragging the latter all the time for better ambiance. He grinned at the thought of imagining San with flowers and sunshine on the background, making sure he wouldn’t come out bursting into laughter though he did end up tapping Kuilei by the hand and the golem had turned its attention to him he merely said, “First, you try and pull a clever one on Suina and now your master has turned into a fine Sir! Good one.” He said in praise as he patted Kuilei and proceeded off towards the edge of the platform. Now, normally, people buy tickets by the booth of which they use for the journey. Kaelian knew all that, and their prices and their times and their protocols. So, he merely waited by the door as passengers got down from the previous trip and managed to slip in with a bit of acting along the way as forgetting a luggage. He managed to slip through a conductor that was sweeping the passengers all out before calling in the new ones. Of which Kaelian would have hidden cleverly by the toilet and watched through small slits of the door to see the incoming masses. Surely enough, when a good number had entered and the usual buzz of finding one’s seat started, he made his way out of the hiding spot and went along like he would normally do. It wasn’t long before he found Clear and his gourd, and then San. He stopped for a moment, looking back as he watched Kuilei do a trick of replacing his rock formation and growing vines. Eventually, the jitter caused some of the passengers to leave with concern but there were still enough people around. The golem entered, finally able to pass through the cabin door without problem and settled carefully next to San where he was teased by the undead mage. Now that they were all seated and set for the journey, Kaelian could take it easy. He did slip right next to Clear, though made sure to put some space between them or else he’d risk the ire of the latter once more, of which he could never really tell why. The whistle, the horn, then the chugging of the engines and metal wheels. The train was moving swiftly without much trouble and it would seem that they would arrive to their destination without complication. Though Kaelian would just have to watch out for the passing conductor who’ll punch their tickets. Perhaps he could punch the man instead. He chuckled at the thought and leaned against the ottoman of the chair, slumping and then observing the rest of the cabin. He wasn’t much of a talker as he should be but he loved observing and with Clear and San in the same collective cabin, it was bound to be a fruitful experience, lest the undead prefers to be dead all the way and Mr. Sulky-from-the-first-day also decides to keep to himself, then he would really have went along in a silent trip. Of course, at least Kuilei was there and maybe pulling out Suina from the gourd later would help entertain him with their interactions if ever he gets too bored. |

Kuilei seems to have the ability to change his body's shape, ultimately allowing him to enter the train. However, he scared a great amount of passengers that way. "Don't do that in here..." Clear thought as a golem shaking and changing its appearance was not exactly reassuring for those boarding a train. Clear also noticed that Kaelian didn't buy a ticket, but since the conductor checked theirs when they got up and Kaelian used some kind of evasive maneuvers to avoid him, Clear decided not to say anything. And with their weird group the conductor was highly unlikely to come and check up on them again. Now they were all seated across each other, Kuilei and San next to each other, Clear with Kaelian next to him, much to the first one's dismay. The trip to Oshibana was not a really long one, but they had more than enough time in their hands to waste. Thinking that someone should start the conversation, Clear decided to take the first step. "So, where are you guys from? Oshibana happens to be my hometown and since I haven't visited it in a long time, I decided to do so today. There are a couple of things I need to take care of." Clear might trust the people with him, yes, even Kaelian, but he wasn't going to tell them everything yet. Sure, if they were curious enough to ask him about the details he was willing to answer them, but he wasn't going to do so of his own volition. He wasn't too comfortable talking about his past, and neither were most of the people there. "I'm from the Celadon Lakes!" Suina said loud enough for all to hear, before continuing munching on her taiyaki. Clear already knew about that, but he hadn't actually ever told anyone how he got to meet Suina. In fact, nobody ever asked. Clear hoped that the other two didn't have any really bad memories of their hometown and that a proper conversation could take place with that subject. San was dead, he might not even remember where he was from, and it didn't sound like it would be pleasant for him to do so. Kaelian was... weirder in that aspect, not much about him was certain. Clear picked up one of the taiyaki from the bag he got and took a bite. It was surprisingly good, unlike any other sweet he had tasted before. He could understand why Kaelian picked these. |

Once everyone had properly sat down - by everyone, meaning only the five of them - Kuilei, of all things, began shaking again. This time, though, his transformation was an exact reversal: his vines and moss shrunk and stuck out into shining blue crystals, his body straightened up, and the rocks that composed it became gray and angular once more. Within a few more moments, he had become exactly the same as he was pre-transformation, though now their little group of Tartaros mages were the only ones on their specific passenger car. "They...all left." The golem appeared to be oblivious as to the reason, looking around to see no one around them. "Where'd they all leave to? Did something happen?" He was not the brightest star in the sky, to nicely put it. San, meanwhile, took little notice of his golem. "I am not a Fiorean by birth," San replied, to Clear's query. He was unusually open about his homeland, and seemed to recall it with rather pleasant connotations. "No, my homeland is far, far to the east..." His voice trailed, as the undead mage began to reminisce of it. "It's a beautiful land. The technology is nowhere near as advanced as that of Fiore, but then again, it is also not as warlike and divided. There are no guilds there. Magic is, above all, a tool to assist in everyday life, a means by which the farms are kept plentiful, the arts are kept beautiful, and invaders are kept out. It's quite different..." San appeared to begin losing himself in his reminiscence, as his head slowly tilted to the side, his words becoming quieter and quieter. Not for long. Once he realized that he was still speaking, San shook his head, knocking himself out of his mumbling thoughts. "It's a strange place for Fioreans, but I cannot testify if it's still like that," he summarized. "I have not been there in several decades." He chuckled, suddenly. "Last time I was there, I was still alive," the undead mage remarked, his shoulder in one swift move ramming into Kuilei and returning to his original position. The golem got the clue. "I came from an ancient temple," the golem explained, "Also a beautiful place. It's well hidden, a fertile valley within a ring of mountains, with clouds so thick one can feel them." San grunted. "Also a sacred place. But cursed. Every being who has ever been appointed guardian of that place has died a violent death." the old man's face then slowly twisted into something similar to a grin. "Too bad for the curse, I'm already dead." |

Kaelian was quick to finally take it easy once the train got started. It would seem that the rest of those in the cabin were slowly easing up a bit. He grinned at the water sprite as she seemed to enjoy his gifts of taiyaki and was frankly surprised when Clear seemed to have taken a liking to it as well if the slight blush on the face that spoke of words that meant he really found the taiyaki very delicious was enough of an observation. He grinned though before he looked back to Kuilei whom he was tempted to pat and hug when the golem feign innocence or perhaps wasn’t even feigning but truly was innocent and oblivious to what he had done that might have caused the rest of the passengers to exit the train earlier. Still, he figured he’d rather not get slugged by a rock fist first thing into the trip so he stayed clear. But perhaps even if he wanted to stay clear, he would not be able to when Clear had decided to begin the conversations and it had to be one topic he never liked talking about. Nevertheless, he made sure not to show that he was uncomfortable about it, nor stray his line of sight. Instead, as years of experience has taught him of how to conduct oneself when troubled and or unexpectedly caught unguarded, he let his eyes focus along one spot, this being Kuilei, and decided to draw the golem’s outlines so that he was only partially focusing on the conversation. Sadly for him, he could still hear them and at some points he liked the idea of the place that San described as his homeland, so much similar to his but a lot saner, while Clear was obviously holding back some information, probably things he wasn’t accustomed to reveal too easily. And when even Kuilei was done introducing his own home, he knew he had to say something even if he didn’t want to. So he sighed as he leaned back to the ottoman of the couch and looked at Clear and San and Kuilei and happily munching Suina with a far-off stare much more like a bored one, really, and said, “I don’t like my home. I don’t remember it. I’m not Fiorean, that much I know and sometimes I wonder if I would have preferred to be one. But, I don’t like my home and I don’t really care much what has happened or its become now. All I know is that as far as I could remember – well, human memory that is, that I was here in Fiore, playing along the grassy hills and eating to Guido’s fantastic grill.” Then, he cheered up and straightened his seat as he brought a hand to his chin, “Well, if you do think about it, then perhaps my home is the East of Fiore, along the hills, along the forest. It’s where I’ve been most. But not that it matters since my new home now is Tartaros, ne?” And before he could go into the mood of talking, he quickly reached out and tapped Clear by the shoulder before saying, “Tag! Your turn. So, tell us, what’s our itinerary when we get to Oshibana? I heard it has a great… great…. Uh, forge right? Maybe I’ll have my sword checked or Artisan.” He tapped his always word gauntlet-slash-bracer. |

It would seem that it was now Clear's turn to speak about his hometown, but he wouldn't be lying if he said he didn't know much about it. "I can't really say much about my hometown. Heck, It has been four years since I last stepped foot in it. There really is not much to note although yes, there is a good forge there. I even know its owner, I could introduce you to him if you want. It's mostly a quiet town with not much going on, but you could get in trouble if you don't watch your step. I never had many connections with the people living there, it's as foreign to me as it is to you with the exception that I know my way around it." Clear knew that it was a pretty sad thing, the fact that his own hometown was not a familiar place for him, but he couldn't really do much about that. The way he grew up didn't leave him much room to socialize, along with his personality. "But I can't say I haven't missed it at all, I think I could even go visit my old house there. I think it's been left empty all these years. Who knows, I might even find something that used to be mine there." Clear's face brightened up a little when he talked about his old house. He remembered the days he spent there with his mother, and also the times he was in her bookstore reading any book that came his way. Those were nice and peaceful days, yet they were not destined to last for long. Clear realized that they all had some reason to not want to talk much about their homeland so he thought it was time to change the subject. "So, anyway, how's the guild been treating you so far Kaelian? I also joined a few day before you, if memory serves right, so you can say we are both newbies of the same guild. I personally like the place, it can get a little chaotic from time to time, but generally it's a place that makes you feel welcome. Unless you're not a member in which case you will probably end up in a sad state." Clear chuckled at his last remark, thinking of what would happen to any intruder in the guild. The train ride was going smoothly and they were soon going to arrive at their destination. Clear had eaten most of the taiyaki Kaelian gave him, although most of it had been consumed by Suina. She seemed content with eating it, and Clear wondered where on earth she put all of it. With a single glance, Clear could tell that the food she consumed was of greater volume than her own, yet there was no apparent change to her. "Such a mysterious creature... Just when I think I start to understand her..." Clear thought while continuing to observe her. There was an announcement from the train and it would seem they would be arriving at Oshibana shortly. "Looks like this is our stop, get ready to depart guys." Clear said to his group, just in case someone didn't notice. |

San was entirely motionless while listening to Kaelian's and then Clear's tales; sitting there, with his back leaning on the seat, and his spectacles making it impossible to see his eyes, it was impossible for even Kuilei to decipher whether he was even awake or not, much less whether or not he was listening on. Not one to be rude, though, Kuilei took the role of listener, watching the other mages when they took their turns to speak intently, facing them directly and even nodding his head once in a while as he had seen others do. Once he heard the announcements, Kuilei's body began trembling once more, as he automatically reverted into the swamp monster-like golem form. True to his own words, his transformation didn't seem to harm the place in any manner, and the train continued to move at its steady pace with no disturbances. As the train entered the station, and slowed to a halt, Kuilei would be spending his few final moments on the train trying to figure out whether or not San was conscious, staring at him curiously, debating whether or not to poke him. When the doors of the train opened, the golem figured he had nothing to lose, and lifted one oversized arm out towards San, about to poke him - "Kuilei, your hand is in my face." Startled, the golem's arm jerked back to its original location. "Master San! I thought you were asleep!" he uttered, as the undead mage suddenly rose and immediately exited the train. "You wish. How could I possibly be asleep if I was listening the whole time?" "You were?" the golem asked, now feeling stupid - he was inwardly berating himself for his inability to determine his master's consciousness. "A-Are you sure?" "Kuilei, get out of the train," San merely said, appearing to have fully returned to his normal self. "And hand me the rest of that bag. I'm not finished with it yet." The golem quietly obliged, taking San's half-eaten bag of taiyaki and exiting the passenger car, handing it to the undead mage. As San opened the bag, quickly devouring the remaining food, he waited for Clear and Kaelian to exit. "Where are we going now in this town then?" Kuilei unwisely asked; his question was met by a sharp knock to the face with the flat side of San's blade. "Were you not listening? We are following Clear, of course." "Yes, sir." |

‘That’s great.” He replied when Clear talked about knowing a famous forge and an excellent blacksmith at that. Perhaps he could finally get his Artisan the well-deserved check up it required and maybe be able to fight more efficiently. Though most of the time, Artisan acts more like a defensive equipment but Kaelian already has plans how to make them his very own new set of deadly weaponry. But that aside, he watched as Kuilei shifted back to a smaller form as soon as the train’s speakers began to announce their arrival to Oshibana. Kaelian was amazed like a child with all eyes out to the golem though he wanted to comfort the giant when he got berated by San like a father scolding a delinquent child. Oh well, they did seem that way. “Don’t worry, Kui. Next time San bullies you, I’ll be there to hug you.” He said with enthusiasm, his inner child reflecting in his eyes. Then, they finally exited the train, though Kaelian had to take the unconventional method by stepping out through the window. With his lithe figure, though tall, he managed to do so perfectly and even climbed up to the roof of the coach. He looked around to see what has changed in the town he had not been into for almost half a year and looking back to the first time he entered the town before, he only did so to catch a good night’s rest before leaving soon after. So unlike before, he might be staying and exploring the town more in depthly this time. And he stepped by the edge of the coach’s roof and leaned down to tell the group below, “I smell food!” he then jumped and landed squarely and effortlessly along the brick tiled station and began walking, “Let’s get some lunch first. Taiyaki can only be considered snacks, you know. Come on!” And as if to show eagerness or just play around like a kid more, he was urging Clear, one hand on the other and play pretending to drag him like a repressed younger sibling. In fact, he was putting on the face of a little kid with fake tears and didn’t mind the odd stares that passersby were giving them. Of course, he was enjoying the moment and even decided to make a half-hearted threat to run away if Clear wouldn’t be such a good older brother to him or that San was being too strict of a father to them. That’s right. For the rest of the trip, he had decided to play family with them both. |

Clear sighed at Kaelian's eagerness of them getting some lunch. He would have preferred it if he took care of his business first, but as it was something that could wait, he decided that getting lunch first wouldn't hurt. "Fine, we can go get lunch first. I rarely ate out while I lived here so I don't really know many good places. But I think I know a decent place, follow me." Clear motioned for everyone to follow when they got out of the train. As they walked through the streets of Oshibana, a wave of nostalgia washed over Clear, a feeling he hadn't encountered before. Suina was also amused by the new scenery and looked right and left at the buildings and people. Their weird group attracted a lot of attention, but Clear didn't bother with it. What strangers thought about them was none of his concerns, he barely knew anyone in the town anyway. Clear led them to a small restaurant close to the station, one he remembered travelers often used. "If memory serves right, this place has decent food. Don't expect anything too fancy, but it should be enough to keep us going." It was a rather common restaurant, with tables both indoors and outdoors. "I suggest we sit outside so we don't have to go through Kuilei's transformation scaring people again. The last thing we need are the town's guards after us. Anyway, let's sit down." Clear picked a table a bit far from the entrance so that they wouldn't block the way and so people could easily avoid them. It was obvious that many were scared of them, and Clear couldn't blame them. Shortly after they sat down, a waiter arrived at their table with a set of menus. "Please call for me when you have decided on your orders." he said with a friendly voice before leaving to cater for the other customers. Clear was a bit surprised that the waiter didn't react at their weird group at all, that's professionalism for you. Clear opened a menu and took a look at the selection. There really wasn't that much, just how he remembered the place from the couple of times he had eaten there. But Clear preferred it that way, there was no need for them to go to some expensive restaurant with all of those strange dishes with fancy names. "I'm thirsty." Suina stated after she finished the last of the taiyaki. "Yes, yes, I'll get some extra water for you. Now what to get..." Clear wondered. It had been a while since he last ate out, and probably the first one that he had company with him. He finally decided on spaghetti bolognaise, a simple yet filling dish, and an extra bottle of sparkling water for Suina. "Okay, I've decided, when you guys are done call for the waiter. Just, don't take too long deciding, there really isn't that huge a difference between dishes. Their quality is all a little higher than average." Clear told the rest as he waited. |

Kuilei's response to Kaelian's assurance, although surprisingly, was not unexpected - he was a golem, after all. "A hug?" he asked, turning to the solar mage. "What's that?" Judging by how it was worded, Kuilei began thinking of a hug as some obtainable substance. "A gift?" San, who was putting his blade back on its traditional sheath on his back, shook his head in disapproval. "Kuilei, you speak too much. Be silent." Of course, his golem had no choice but to oblige, though his head was still tilted in curiosity. As the group of Tartaros mages followed Clear to the restaurant, Kuilei did quickly make a shift back to his customary form, just in time too - he finished transforming right as Clear found their table. San took a seat, while Kuilei stood behind him like some oversized collector's item; it was impossible for the golem to fit on the chairs, after all. "Hm," the undead mage grunted, upon receiving the menu. Picking it up while listening to Clear's specifications, he took a quick glance over the menu before realizing the obvious. I really should start learning this country's language... Correct; he had no idea what was written on the menu, much less what to order. Thankfully, there were several pictures - "I have decided already," San announced, his finger pointed towards an image of what he hoped to be some sort of alcoholic drink. "I am not that hungry." Not hungry at all, he meant, though he didn't say it out loud; the taiyaki was more than he had eaten in the last several days combined. Kuilei, on the other hand, was looking around; one had no desire to eat, when one didn't even have a digestive system to begin with. "Ah, and perhaps some water for the golem," San added. Though he wasn't looking behind him, he could feel Kuilei's expectant gaze, what with it being the golem's first time at a restaurant. Everyone else could see it - the golem's eyes - or rather, the holes in its mask of a face - were widened to the point where they were lemon-shaped, as Kuilei stood there watching something being ordered for him. "Feels like I'm raising a small child," San muttered, under his breath. |
