Magic Spell Advice: Creating a powerful new spell

Dear friends,

I am trying to design a special kind of spell, that is a bit tricky to describe. My magic revolves around using stars and astral bodies for powerful spells. That is the theme to my magic, however i had this really cool spell in mind based off of Zatch Bell's spells from a mamodo named Pamoon. He used stars that hovered around an area to launch attacks and build structures.

Anyway let me show you the concept of the spell. : This spell conjures 20 stars that hover and move around in a 50 meter radius from the caster. The stars themselves don't do anything but become the focus of the caster's following spells. While the stars are about, the caster is unable to cast his previous spells and he has to have strong concentration to move all the stars, making him unable to move from the spot he had cast them from. The stars can follow certain commands as follows.

Fire: Shoots lasers at a target or multiple targets in the area the spell is cast. Because the stars surround the area, they can be fired at any angle for precision.

Shield: The Stars align around the caster to form a pyramid/prism shaped shield.

Connect: The stars align around the target or targets, and create a "light make" net, a solid rope connecting the stars that can tie up, confine and constrict the movements of enemies.

Also there is one other spell in which all the stars circle around in a spot, and charges up . The charge is meant to last a few posts, to create a Tier 10 attack spell of big power.

I really want to just make this spell however I am well aware the rules of the site wouldn't just let me create a new branch of spell so easily without having an evaluation or limits to it. I considered using the template to a Take Over, however the TP pool for even a rank 10 form does not meet the needs for each command's strength. Fire, Shield and connect are skills ranging from 4-5 rank in terms of its effects. however, the last skill to create a charging attack is the problem. i would only have 5 TP left. Not to mention it doesn't raise the stats of the caster.

Example spell for command to charge up for high damage spell. --- Last one is not exact, but the concept is to charge up for a high power attack.

First of all, you can't use Take Over magic, your magic is light manipulation. To use TO your magic needs to be exclusively that, TO. Now for the spells you describe, I have a general idea for how to make them possible. Specifically, you would need 5 techniques to make them all possible.

1st tech) Creates the starts and makes them hover around an area. Since the starts don't really do anything by themselves, as you say, you could give them some sort of non-offensive ability. You could have them give vision in an area, scout for you, something like that. As this spell's rank goes up, it creates more stars.

2nd tech) Uses the stars to shoot lasers. Pretty straight-forward.

3rd tech) Uses the stars to block attacks, pretty straight-forward as well.

4th tech) This one is a little tricky. You can have them create a net of light, but you will have to give it physical properties. You will have to give it a Class (D, C, B...) and also make them escapable in some way. Other than that, it can also work fine.

5th tech) Charges all the stars and fires an AoE. Boom. Pretty straight-forward as well.

The whole idea is that the 1st tech creates the stars for a pretty long time and the rest focus on them. You will have the advantage of giving the other techs relatively short cooldowns as their power is "nerfed" by having them rely on the tech that creates the stars. E.g. the AoE would usually have a 3 post cooldown, you could get away with it being 2 posts. The shield would still have to follow the shield rules, but the laser could even go as far as having no cooldown, 1 use per post.

I see. So instead of one single technique that contains many, divide it into several techniques? That seems very doable and since the first spell triggers the others the cooldown would be simple. Sounds great. However one question, my issue is the number of TP required in each technique. Example is the rope spell. As you say have a D,C , B rank, well i would describe how strong the rope is but the TP requirement to make it so strong. or the charge for that matter. Btw. The Charging Spell, its meant to be a highly destructive beam spell. not AOE, but when that spell is cast, the stars dissapear spent.

There is no set TP you have to spend on each technique. You could make each one as strong as you like. But never forget this: a spell can only cause as much damage as its Rank dictates. This means that the simple laser and the one you call more destructive will deal the same damage at the same Rank. However, you can have the other beam have a larger area of effect and even give it a longer duration. You could have a beam continue shredding an area for 2 posts if you want. Your magic is Tier 1, the stuff you can have it do is pretty much limitless.

Glad to help. If you buy TP every month, you should be able to have the basic tech and the laser one in 2 months or less.

P.S. You might have been contacted by the user Franciscopizarro. He's a relatively fast poster and I suggest you RP with him if you want some more SP.
