Fairy Tail RPG Current News

Hey everyone! It's May and you know what that means? Yeah, me neither. There's not a whole lot in terms of major news right now, except for maybe some clarification on some forms of magic like usual. As for a new event? Right now, we're just having the April Event (Bosco Invasion part 3) taking place, which runs into the middle of May. But, one cool new thing that we're introducing this month is SS-Class items. Now you have something to grind and agonize over! Yay, isn't that just lovely? I think so. You can find more info on that in the Equipment and Item Creation section in the rules.

That's it for now, folks! If I get anything new to add to this you can guarantee that I will do so. In the words of the immortal douchebag rival, "Smell ya later." Keep on RPing everyone! Kill some Boscans!

[OOC: Mission Request Link]

Yovel and Vits were travelling to Trillium. It was a cool day and they were on official guild business. Yovel hasn't actually been back at Quatros Cerberus for some time and he thought it was best to return to the guild and complete some of the missions on the board. Yovel took a mission where he would have to encounter a few unruly things in the evening, but for now it was best to reach the city before they started anything else. Yovel had sent a message to another guild mage to join him on the mission to give him some experience and hopefully help him get stronger. The mission itself is something that Yovel could manage on his own, but it would be good to help others get stronger. The more stronger allies he had, the more secure things will be in the long run.

Yovel had planned to meet the mage in an inn and hopefully they can get some practice before nightfall where they had to reach their destination. Yovel and Vits walked down the streets to the outskirts of town as it was one of the areas where the buildings were still standing after the debacle concerning the Queen Dragon recently. Opening the door to the inn, Yovel went inside while Vits went to the stable and roosted with the horses. It's a good thing that the inns had stables for all kind of mounts that people travelled with. Walking to the proprieter, Yovel received the key to his lodgings and decided to stay in the pub area while waiting for his partner.

The train on the track, clanked, clanked, and clanked as the path ahead become more plains and wastelands in the distance. It had left Magnolia a day ago, and now was heading towards Trillium-- or what was left of it. Rumor had it that the town had begun reconstruction, but he doubted it would be so quick before a whole town was fixed after what happened there.

Zachary knew first hand because he was there when the legendary Dragon Queen had emerged from some kind of imprisonment. The simple appearance left the town in rubble. Though it was a momentous moment in Zachary's life, he wasn't especially thrilled to go back to Trillium especially for its location to Raven Tail. It simply made him nervous. However he had more reason to be nervous.

No sooner had he joined the Fairy Tail guild, he got a message from a friend named Yovel, a druid he had met in Trillium at a tea house, shortly before the city turned into ruins. He had heard that Zachary had joined Fairy Tail, sending his congratulations. What surprised him was that Yovel wanted him to join him on a mission. However, "wanted" was more like insisting as he instructed which job it was. When Zachary found the same job request on the mission board, he shouted loud from fright that nearly half the guildhall turned at him.

The Mission was a C class quest. What made him grumpy was that the mission was usually recommended with ones with more strength and experience. He was a new recruit-- a D class mage. It felt like he was biting off more than he could chew. However, he couldn't argue with a simple note that Yovel sent him.

Unsure whether or not he was going to regret it, he was going to meet Yovel in Trillium. The train had now reached the deserts south of Trillium, the ruined city now visible from the train. He was going to talk to Yovel about the mission, at the very least give him a piece of his mind for a mission above his skill level.

The train stopped at the final stop. The original train station was in ruins from the dragon, so it stopped at a makeshift platform just outside of the town. As Zachary got off the train, he made extra care to keep his guild mark, now on his hand covered as he feared any lingering dark guild members in the town. Though the military was now here in a more dominant presence, he didn't want to take any chances. After a while navigating the ruined streets, he found the inn Yovel told him to meet. Entering the establishment, he saw despite the ruin of the city, the pub area was alive with chatter and drinking. He kept an eye out, hoping to spot the blond haired druid or for him to wave him over. Where could he be?

Yovel noticed that the blue mage had entered the lodgings and saw him looking around. The bar itself was loud and crazy even though the sun was high in the air. Was it because the work men who were repairing the city decided to take a break and lounge at the bar since it was a Friday? Yovel was getting irritated by their behaviour and would like the blast them out of the way, but if he did that then another building would have been destroyed. Instead Yovel stood up and pushed his way towards Zaber.

The tables were full of men with jugs of ale laughing and making a large ruckus. There wasn't much space between the tables as the men were blocking the path with their chairs. Yovel sighed as he jumped over the tables and some men towards Zaber. They didn't care what Yovel did and neither did he as he had business to attend to. He eventually reached Zaber and then said Come along, it is better if we discuss the matter outside.

Yovel was walking down the path away from the inn and towards the stable that was located nearby. He then spoke to Zaber in regards to the mission. There is a mission that I felt that you could get some practice and grow stronger. Even though it is a C rank mission, your spell is already strong enough to actually hurt the foes. We are to deal with three undead who stalk the nearby cemetary. They have been causing some concern for the city especially as you have seen the drunk workers who I suspect piss their pants frequently. But there is a reason why I asked to meet you earlier in the day and that is to practice. If you have anything you wish to complete before leaving for the grave yard, you should do so now. If not then I will explain a little bit more of the type of practice I'm going to put you through.

Yovel walked around the stable and eventually found Vits roosting in a hay stack. It seemed that he had already made a nest for himself and was relaxing. Yovel clapped his hands together and Vits saw them. Standing up, Vits waddled towards the two mages and waited for them to lead the way.

(OOC: Yovel just FYI if you read my character profile, his hair is really brown. but whatever. )

Before long, Zachary spotted Yovel. He easily lept over others drinking at the table, creating a ruckus. He jumped over and on the heads of others, but they didn't care as the young druid landed easily near the entrance of the bar, smirking at Zachary.

"And hello to you to," Zachary grumbled a bit, considering Yovel's entrance a bit too flashy. He wouldn't of pegged the druid as the attention starved youth. Yovel grabbed him gently by the arm and led them outside of the noisy tavern. As they got into more quiet air, Yovel explained the situation. He explained how he chose him for the mission to help expand his experience and skills in the field, and also how he felt they could put in practice beforehand to make his spells more effective. Before Zachary could speak, he walked towards the stables. "H-Hey! Wait a second!" he called out as he saw Yovel stopped. He clapped his hands, and his big green bird Vits flapped his wings and descended to the ground next to his master.

"Look," Zachary stressed, making sure his words were clear and strong. " I really appreciate what you are trying to do. I do. But I think you are overestimating me here. I mean, i JUST joined Fairy Tail, my rank as a wizard still being Rank D. I am no where near ready for jobs that involve monster combat, let alone ZOMBIES! " Yovel could clearly see he was nervous. It was his first magic job, and already he was being pitted against the forces of darkness. "I had planned to start with D rank and work my way up. I didn't think I would be fighting any C class enemies anytime soon. The whole reason for the rank system is so mages can consider the severity of the mission, so they can... oh i don't know-- come back alive?!"

Zachary saw the look of exasperation on Yovel's face, clearly seeing his sarcasm as an overreaction to the situation. He took a deep breath, combed his fingers through his brown hair, and relaxed. "I want to do this. I want to join you on this quest, but I also wanna be able to come back alive. You can understand that right? I can't guarantee I am up to the challenge." he explained, modest but true. But then again, it was why Yovel had sent for him. To help him, and instruct him to better grow as a wizard.

Vits just cocked his head at them curiously, the bird not really getting all that Zachary was saying. Sensing his sarcasm before, Yovel made a small squawk to add to the drama. Afterward, the bird walked over to Zachary, making a cooing sound happy to see the boy again. "And hello there, Vits. Nice to see you again." Zachary added.

OOC: Clearly I did not and thus this is why I don't do CC. I just count lines and go yup

Yovel listened to Zaber and heard his 'concerns' with the level of the mission and what it entailed. Yovel sighed at how frantic Zaber was becoming that he was amused by the situation he was getting himself in. Turning around to Zaber, Yovel replied with And do what in the D rank missions? D rank missions you do nothing but chores. Exploring Fiore is far more dangerous than C rank missions any day. Even then I'm not going to leave you out in the lurch. Yovel opened his palm and it revealed to Zaber a few of his glyphs. There were three types of glyphs, but two of them were really important to help Zaber. With one type floating out of his palm and infront of Zaber, Yovel explained what it was.

Bogagong. The shield. With this spell you can activate it to create two shields that can block a number of attacks and weapons that the undead were reported to be weilding. It would be sufficient to block the Undead if they managed to slip past me and Vits. The second is Iikami the glyph that etches onto your body and enhances your physical capabilities. With just these two glyphs it gives you an edge of the undead and normal humans. The last one is Eldingar. It's a lightning based glyph that you can use with your own spells. Like Iikami, it can etch onto your spell to enhance its capabilities. One of the joys about my magic is that it influences anything it touches or is written on.

The glyphs then floated to Zaber and Yovel yawned and stretched while looking at the path leading out of the town. Eh and don't worry about their limitted use. Once they've been used up I can summon them again and send them your way. And we'll be doing some training when we've set up camp as well. We need to warm up the body before we start the mission. Yovel explained everything he need to Zaber hoping to ease his anxiety and stress. Yovel wasn't like that in his first few missions as he went and endeavoured to complete them as quickly as possible. He found D rank missions slow and pointless, but in the end it didn't matter as now he was getting some opportunity to practice his magic and enhance his capabilties.

Zachary looked at the runes Yovel passed to him. It was then he had a better understanding of Yovel's magic. "I get it now. Your magic is a form of inscription magic. You use different runes to create different forms of power. I didn't know you could use enhancement techniques with it. " Zachary replied with interest. He looked at the runes with interest, wanting to try one out sometime soon.

After a moment of taking in Yovel's information, he let out a deep breath as they made their way to the place where Yovel would train them. "Well i guess, when you put it that way... Okay I am in. But I hope you can keep me safe to a degree. While I have grown stronger as a mage, I still only have one spell. But I will do my best." he explained as they made their way to the grounds near the militarized part of Trillium.

The grounds were full of soldiers on high patrol. The rise of the Dragon Queen had caused a great deal of unrest for the military and knights of Fiore. Between the trouble from the citizens alone and aiding restoring order to the town, the guards were in even more alert to deal with the zombies. The job request did not explain how or why the zombies were rising from Trillium though. Zachary had a theory that perhaps when the Dragon Queen rose, the excess magic that was released from her emergence might of "contaminated" the land. Though not intentionally, excess magic of high magnitude could lead to random effects. It was possible the magic reanimated the dead of the city, turning them into zombies. Though not as bad as a full on plague of zombies, it was still a troubling magic. The power the Dragon Queen had was amazing, and would love to confirm whether or not he was accurate in his guess.

"So who do we talk to for the job?" Zachary asked Yovel as they made their way through the military area. He assumed they would train there, close by to the likely place the Mission was issued by. It was most likely the military, requesting additional aid from Wizards to help with the undead control. All the while the soldiers' stood in attention, on high alert even though night, when the undead were likely to wake. They looked even worse than Zachary did from the nervous thought to fight the undead.

Yovel walked down the path and as with Zaber, noticed the number of soldiers in the area moving and making sure that things were calm in the city. Since the dragon appeared where the old Raven Tail's guild use to be, the council jumped down quickly into the area to control the situation. There were guards who were ordering and managing the rebuilding of the city making sure the carts of goods were sent to the correct place. Yovel watched and listened to Zaber as he spoke once more about the situation. Zaber had agreed to join the mission, but was still hesitant. Noticing that Vits wasn't around, he looked up.

Yovel then laughed for a bit and then the wind rustled. The air whipped around them and Yovel saw what he was looking for in the sky. Vits was in the air and swooped down and landed behind Zaber. His metallic wings glistened in the sun light as he fluffed up all his feathers and looked at Zaber. Do not forget that Vits is here with us tonight. Even with the undead coming at us there is very little to fear if you are flying from the sky. It would be nice to have some air support when managing such foes and since your spells are long range it means that there is very little to be concerned about in the long run.

Yovel thought for a moment and then pulled out the misison request sheet and showed it to him. He then said You tell me. I still cant read the langauge you guys use so its a tad bothersome and hard especially with guild work. So yeah can you tell me where we are suppose to speak to in regards to starting the mission

Yovel handed the sheet to Zaber and then spun around looking for anyone who was different from the rest. Most likely the most wrinkled and stress person would be the one in charge and he noticed that there was a woman's voice yelling some distance away from them. Maybe she would be the best bet to start considering she was already highly stressed and barking orders everywhere. Yovel then decided to wander in that direction.

Zachary looked up to the green bird that flew over head and looked as he landed behind him. Giving into temptation, he reached out and patted Vits on the head. He did enjoy the company of the bird, putting his worries at ease. "He is no angel, but he is just as good," Zachary joked, scratching the bird behind the head and Vits made a cooing sound of appreciation.

As they entered the military compound and camp, Yovel handed Zachary the flyer, telling him he still couldn't read basic English. Zachary couldn't help but look at him with skepticism. "Remind me sometime to teach you how to read. Seriously, in today's age reading is piratically a required skill." He retorted as he took the flyer to read it in better detail. The one back at Fairy Tail didn't have enough detail to go on. "How did you even acknowledge the mission request if you couldn't read it?"

He looked over the flyer and read it aloud. "'Remove the Zombies'. Class C . Client: Captain Riza Azure of Trillium military unit. Requesting additional services from other guilds for a sudden rise in undead population. Forces face exhaustion from both zombies as well as maintaining order in rebuilding Trillum. Please report to Client for official briefing. Please note...' " Zachary stopped as read the final part to the request mission. "'Please note: Zombies considered hostile and dangerous. We will not be held responsible for final will and testaments should you fail... "

Zachary felt a cloud of gloom hang over his head as he read that last part. He could feel Yovel peck him to snap him out of it with his beak but didn't respond immediately. Gloom lines ran down the back of his head as he sighed and handed Yovel back the paper. "You REALLY gotta learn to read the fine print," Zachary responded sarcastically.

As they entered the military base, reported to the desk and told them they were replying to the job request. After checking their marks and registering at the desk, they were directed to go to a room at the end of the hall. As they walked down the corridor, they saw the door in question and entered. With a knock on the door, the two of them and Vits entered the room.

Standing at a map table with her hands firmly placed on the structure was a blond woman with long hair. She stood sharp and composed, her blue eyes sharp with focus and attention. The kind of woman who commanded respect and who would mane you if you treated her any less of a person just because she was female. She wore light armor and had the Fiore Knights symbol on her armor, a bayonet gun against the wall that was hers.

"Welcome," she said in a stern tone, "You must be the wizards who responded to my request. I am Riza Azure. Thanks for coming. We can use all the help we can get in this slum of a town as it is now."

Zachary gave a nervous chuckle as he scratched behind his head modestly. "Eh-- um glad to be of service, miss." he replied.

Yovel listened to what Zachery was saying as he read out loud the flyer. Yovel just on a whim asked people in the guild to read out the missions for him and he just picked out this one. The kind lady who kept a record of all the missions didnt mention anything to him and Yovel thought it was alright. He then turned ot Zaber and said Eh this Captain Riza really doesn't have any hopes for mages if she puts in the last bit. Maybe cos she's a knight and maybe knights don't have that much of a good impression for mages.

Yovel then walked to the military base as he just ignored Zaber's concerns about reading the fine print. He also waved the idea of learning English. He wasn't in the mood to learn another language as it's not going to help him much in the long run. Once he's strong enough and complete his trials he's going back to the forest to resume his duty. Well there was not much he could do about it in the mean time and continue with his current object of managing the undead that laid within the area.

As Yovel entered and met with Riza, who was sitting at her desk. He wondered why the boss always had to be at the end of the corridor. It was a bothersome walk and it doesn't help them either as they have to be in the depths of the base. She greeted them and then went on about how Trillium was a slum of a town. Yovel stood up to the plate as Zaber gave a weak reply and said Yes we are the mages that are contracted for this mission. We are here to gain further understanding of the situation which will allow us to deal with the current predicament before any more issues arise. It seemed that this impressed Riza at she felt that she could trust these mages to get the job done.

Riza then replied 'We have an annoyance in regards to the undead that are appearing in the nearby cemetry at the top of the hill. We have our hands full down here managing the lowlife who are attempting to take advatange of the situation. The undead just stick around the cemetary, but they like to wander away from it. They return to their damn graves my morning, but we don't know which ones are rising up. The people are highly stressed at the moment and digging up the dead won't calm them down. Eliminate the undead as quickly as you can'

(OOC:Adding the details of the quest. feel free to let me know if its okay or not)
Zachary listened carefully to what Riza said, paying attention. He was interested in the reason behind the rise of undead. "Do you have any idea what caused the zombies here? I mean zombies are not a 'natural' magical phenomenon. There is usually caused by something or someone that reanimates the corpses and they respond to basic needs. They don't just 'get up' on their own." Zachary asked, explaining his understanding of zombies.

Captain Riza nodded at the reply. "I am afraid I cannot say what caused it. We have a few hypothesis though. The rise of the dragon queen may have angered the rest of the dead and caused them to rise, and the residual magic she left behind could of animated them. However that theory is far fetched among my superiors. However... I believe while the zombies themselves are being animated and herded by something else." she explained, her fists tightening as she looked at the table with the map. She reached for a pointer and circled the area north of town. "This is the area the zombies congregate. We can keep them from proceeding into the popular area, but we are never able to kill them permanently. They are undead after all. This abomination must be stopped. That being said, I will offer a bonus reward if you not only defeat the zombies, but find the source of them and eliminate it."

After a moment of thought, Zachary raised his hand in question and Riza called on him to answer. "Just one minor detail? Um... why did you put down this last part, about not held responsible for deaths and stuff?" Zachary asked, his tone a bit worried.

Riza's tone lightened up a bit, seeing the request sheet. "Oh that." she responded simply, not too worried. "It's just there for legality. Dangerous work of this kind has its risks no matter how small. My superiors feel such notice is necessary so we are not held responsible for the actions of those who work for us under unofficial contracts. " She then smiled at the two of them, relatively confident. "But don't worry. I am sure you both are more than qualified to handle this mission. You are both experienced wizards."

Zachary felt a nervous sweat drip behind his neck at the mention of it. He didn't have the heart to tell her otherwise, so he just nodded his head. "Um, right! Yes, ma'am!" he responded, a small laugh to his voice.
