Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Ok so, Graha is the strongest power. They have elective monarchy, meaning every 4 years the people elect a leader who has all authority. Stanley Colburn is the current one. The setting should be huge cities with supreme technology, think Star Wars or I, Robot.

Lumen is a monarchy with a long line of noble families and one main family from where the king is from. The king has all authority and the nobles are his subjects each ruling over a small part of the island. The setting should be something like ancient Greece/ancient Rome with the buildings being in that fashion but with some technology mixed in.

Hydra is a strictly militaristic nation. Their leader is selected by proving himself in combat in all aspects of it. Physical ability, use of weapons, strategic planning, leadership, all those things. He must also be able to govern the country. I'm thinking of the setting being something like Soviet Russia. A huge military with guns and shit.

The Tao Islands have a Japanese lay-out, Luffy's idea. I suggest they are split up in feuds, much like Japan was in the Edo era in japan, or whichever one we often see in manga with samurais and the like. Each feud has its own shogun who is succeeded by his first born son. The two islands are connected by a bridge. All the feuds are in a constant struggle to gain more land but currently we are in a period of peace.

Mjolnir as the name implies is a viking nation. Think glacial flats, snow and wooden houses. They have mighty warriors led by the strongest one in pure combat strength. They always attack head-on overpowering their opponents. They have nearly zero technology when it comes to anything besides combat. They take no allies and the best terms anyone has ever come to with them is neutral.

Peropia is a religious nation. They are all united under one god -insert deity name here- and they are ruled by the archbishop of their religion. They believe in spreading their god's words through trade and peaceful means. Think high churches everywhere, much like christian ones. They don't have a military for offensive purposes. Instead, they have various systems to defend from intruders focusing mostly on the landscape that is filled with mountains.

Ferazis can be described in one word: SPARTA! per Jodin's request.Think half-naked men constantly training to improve their skills in case of a war. They get rid of all the cripples and people that may slow them down from the army and instead have them do menial chores like taking care of the animals or raising crops. The men that cannot fight are looked down upon and are treated like slaves. They are ruled by a handful of the strongest warriors who all share equal power, in short, oligarchy.

Espoir is a monk island. There are many different temples spread across it. Their inhabitants practice a life of non-aggression and rarely come into contact with other islands. However, when I say monks delete the part about them only being male and not having wives. Think of bald shaolin monks, but with families. The communities are simple agricultural and the people mainly live through their own means. The people train their bodies to be able to hunt effectively since they have low technology.

Vasic is the island where most technology comes from. They are far more advanced than even Graha but they lack resources and so sell their research to other islands in exchange for, mostly, food. The land is mostly barren so they can't produce much on their own. All cities are filled with labs with all sorts of different experiments going on. Think of them as the crazy scientists of the world, Vegapunk style. :hehehe:

Jude is the most mundane when it comes to having a unique characteristic. There's not much to say about it. It has its own produce of food and technology but not on an extraordinary scale like other islands. Think of the cities as regular sized cities found in Europe and America. They trade with other islands and have their own army. Their regime is democracy, every 4 years 100 people are elected through the political party system.

WOW, nicely done Vilis. I'll change a few things here and there and add my personal touch, but this is extremely good.

Here's what's next:

- Prelude. This means what happened before the main storyline of the game began. This will be based on Luna's suggestion.

- The Main Story. While I did post up a little something concerning Michael Walker, Stanley Colburn and the task force, it's not enough. Again, I'll use Luna's suggestion for the story as well. Any people wanting to participate in it, throw in your suggestions.

- Characters. As of now, we have two named characters and eight unnamed ones. I'd like people to give awesome names to the rest of the task force (six individuals), for Colburn's daughter and for the villain.

- Magic vs. Special Abilities. There will be magic, or at least something supernatural in this game. The monsters and the source of energy (the crystals). However, we are debating whether some individuals in the game should have magical powers, like Fairy Tail, or special abilities, like Superman.

- Monsters. I'll work up on a story within the story as to why there are monsters and whatnot in this game. I'd like people to think up of different types of beasts, where we'd encounter them, etc.

- The Name. Finally, what would be the name of the game? Throw in your two cents.

About the special abilities I had an idea. Why don't we have BOTH magic and special abilities? Each human is born with some sort of physical/mental ability they can improve by using. These abilities are affected by genetics so people from Hydra or Mjolnir would have powers more suited for combat, like high accuracy or reflexes, while people from Vasic would have more intellectual abilities, like high analyzing of information or better programming ability. For magic I'm thinking of having some people that are born without an inherent ability but can instead use magic. I'm thinking of it being more common in Peropia and Espoir, as well as the Tao islands in a smaller degree. Each person can use any kind of magic but they are talented in different kinds of it. So magic itself is kind of generic, but each person has their own unique and individual thing they are capable of.

For the main character and the villain, I came up with the following: you mention some sort of pool on one of the secret islands. So, by falling in that pool or whatever, the main character can copy other people's abilities by them agreeing to let him use them. The villain can steal others' abilities by killing them. They are kind of opposites as you requested before. They both lost their inherent physical ability but also gained the power to use magic. So, they can basically do much more than any normal person could even if they put more effort into it. If that seems too OP, we can remove the part about magic, or have them retain their inherent abilities AND be able to use magic, which is still kind of OP when compared to normal people.

Special Abilities
- @What Vil Said: I really dislike that idea, no offense. The idea you've made basically reminds me of Skyrim (Nords on Mjolnir? Warriors?) with each island basically being a type of 'sub-Human' race.

- My idea:
I believe supernatural special abilities would suit this more since Magic is a more Global thing, meaning its mostly done and some Magic is wide-spread. With a supernatural ability the people with these powers are more unique, although some Abilities may be similar they won't ALL be the same. Best example I can use would be TakeOver; Alan transforms into a natural white wolf, Bob transforms into an armoured bear. So although similar there is a difference in both animal and the fact Bob has armour.

Supernatural Abilities that are unique to the person, although they can be similar - in a small way eg transforming. People are not always born with these abilities and if they are then the powers are very minor and only awake at a later age. Abilities can be small, huge, wide-range of this from being able to create fire to turning into a Dragon the size of Earth.

The name for said supernatural ability power thing can be; Szen. (Random word I came up with, I can do more random words for names so just ask if you need one).

Characters
-
I suggested this in cbox but I'll post it here but this affects loads of things character related, but why not have members from FTG mentioned in the story in some way or form. To be fair and reasonable, members must request to be mentioned and must pick from;

  • Being an Important Side-Line Character (NPC)
  • Being a God (if Religion gets into this, and I see this turning up badly)
  • Being a Weapon/Armour (members will need to specify what the weapon/armour is and also a little description about the reason of the name. Name could be - as Zen said - Zeneus Death Cannon.)
  • Being a location/monument.
  • Being a 'Boss' (this will be discussed and only a few people selected).

Now my ultimate idea.

People should start signing up to join (again) a certain Group. Each Group would be designated with a certain Task;

  • Main Story
  • Islands - This includes towns/villages/important locations found on the village, this group would work with;
  • Flora/Fauna - This group is tasked with making the animals/monsters and also any 'new' or special flora.
  • Characters - This group is tasked with creating the main important characters and sideline, they work with the Main Story group.
  • Important Boss - This group works with the Character Group, in making the important bosses.
  • Etc, you get the idea.

I still like my idea better but I agree we should split up in groups. I've kind of worked on the island briefings already, so I'll go with the Island team.
Also, for the name I think we should come up with one for the planet and use that until a better idea comes up.

And, I just came up with an idea for the prelude. It's quite generic so feel free to improve it. Among the ten islands there used to be one uninhabited island that had abundant resources (crystals). The crystals are found in the form of a mineral but have he unique trait that they replenish themselves over time. Think of them as re-growing minerals, like plants. Anyway, the ten islands all used the resources on that island equally and since the crystals would grow back, there was no need for dispute. However, the regrowth rate of the crystals is fairly slow, so with the increase in population and the great islands' higher need for energy fighting began among them. Wars started on that island for control over the resources with three alliances being formed, each led by one of the three great powers. Foolishly fighting on the island they didn't realize that their weapons were destroying the earth, rendering it unable o reproduce the crystals. By the time they learned of this, this island had been reduced to a barren wasteland incapable of producing anything, not even plant-life. Many years went by and the islands kept fighting with each other for control over each other's limited resources. After all, crystals also grew on the ten islands but in smaller amounts. So, we are now brought to our present time. An island similar to the one the war took place in in the past has mysteriously emerged. A war is bound to break up again so Stanley Colburn decides to gather the special task force mentioned before, to ensure the resources will be split equally among the islands and the same mistake won't happen again. The villain, now supreme commander of Hydra, sees this as an opportunity to gain hold of the resources and control the entire world through his military might.

I like those ideas, but this is what I thought up while under the shower (it's true what they say; you get the best ideas under there). Also, there will be no sub-human race. This is like planet earth, with each island just being a country with different people in them. Sure, there are those who actual have the blood of said nation, but mixed people live everywhere (more or less). Anyways...

MAGIC VS. SPECIAL ABILITIES

No one, or only 0.07% of the population, will possess special abilities. They are very common, easy things to control. The true power lies in controlling what I call the "Synergy Quartz". These crystals contain magical powers and, combined with weapons or even a person, an individual can, for a limited time, use magic powers that suit him. For example, say Natsu were to live in our game and take a Synergy Quartz and Gray were to take the same. When they would use the powers, they would have different abilities, Natsu having fire and Gray having ice. However, once used, it takes a great deal of time to recharge. It recharges because it has an infinite amount of power (though, depending on the quantity of it and quality, it can only output so much). Same thing applies to weapons.

The case for our hero and our villain is different. They were not born with inherent abilities, but both fell and almost drowned in the Lake of Asden, located on the very small isle Asden (I doodled a map, so I'll upload it soon enough). The water of that lake is actually liquid magic crystal, and since they were drowning, the water entered their body and merged with them, giving them special powers, those powers being opposites of each other and representing their very nature.

Michael Walker would get two abilities out of this. The first one would be his ability to boost the time limit and the energy output of any Synergy Quartz used by someone he deems an ally. The second one is the ability to project energy beams of all shapes, sizes and density. This ability is not limited to just that: force fields, solidification of said energy beams, etc.

As for the villain, his first ability, opposite Michael's, would be the ability to shorten the time limit and limit the energy output of any Synergy Quartz used by someone he deems an enemy. The second one is the ability to absorb all forms of energy around him to enhance his own physical prowess. His physical power boost is directly proportional to the amount of energy. Still, he is not able to absorb the beams Michael projects.

THE BACKSTORY

In the past, there was a great war to gain access to, like you said, an island which produced massive amounts of crystals. However, while it was harvested equally, the Kingdom of Afreet (now Graha, with the Tao Islands, Peropia, Espoir and Lumen) and the Kingdom of Serveni (now Hydra, with Mjolnir, Ferazis and Vasic) each had one of the legendary twin sister Synergy Quartz, Eris and Concordia. Eris was in the hands of the King of Serveni, who remains nameless through history, and Harmonia was in the hands of the King of Afreet, King James van Sternberg. The battle raged on for a few years, until the two kings came out onto the battlefields themselves, wielding their respective Sister Quartz.

The battle was fierce, but Sternberg came out victorious, slaying his opponent. Afterwards, the Afreet forces were able to defeat their enemies. However, the battle had scarred the world forever: the land that is now Jude could no longer produce any crystals and both Eris and Concordia vanished from the world, before the Afreet King's very own eyes. Over the following millenia, many would attempt to find the two, hoping to gain power over the others, but all hope was lost.

Fastforward two and half millenias later, and the world has changed. Exploiting crystals side by side with newfound technology, many of the islands are more or less propesrous, with Graha being at the top. Seven years before the beginning of the current story, a man named Tim (not real name, but I'm tired of putting *insert name here*), age 24, goes on a cruise ship. His whole life, he's been searching for the Sister Quartz, believing it is his destiny to find them. On this cruise are several other people, but most notably a married Stanley Colburn, his wife and child Lisa Colburn (12), and a young Michael Walker (14), who was simply hitching a ride to see if he could score some money by pit-pocketing some of those rich folks.

As a storm brewed, the cruise coasted on the Isle of Asden. Tim, eager to explore in the hopes that possibly what he was searching for was here decided to explore. Michael, him, was successful in making some good cash out of all this. As the two explored, they eventually ended up near a lake. There, they both find a rather beautiful, glowing Quartz. Michael had never seen anything so shiny, while Tim had never seen a crystal glow so brightly. Thinking it might've been Eris or Concordia, he ran and snatched it... at the same time as Michael. Ensued a rather comical power struggle, until they dropped the crystal and it shattered in pieces. Furious, Tim backhand smacks Michael, sending him into the lake. The youngster fell deeper and deeper within, unable to come back up, despite the fact that he was a good swimmer. The water entered his body and he could feel a certain change within him. Tim, noticing that the kid was coming up, dove to get him, but experienced the same thing. Both of them blacked out...

The next thing he knew, Tim was back on Hydra, on a hospital bed. He had been out of it for two weeks. The man got up and felt different. He discovered his new found abilities. Being the second in command of the local militia, he decided to use his new found power to join the army and change the world from there. As time passed, he went up the ladders at frightening speed, becoming the Supreme Commander of Hydra. However, he became corrupted, but in truth, his real intentions, his hidden emotions, the ones that he had been burying inside, fooling himself that he should find the Sister Quartz for good, had resurfaced. He now had an agenda greater than before...

As for Michael, he also woke up two weeks later, but in a different place. He was back in Jude... in a detaining cell for the youth. It was at this time that he discovered his first ability to shoot energy out of his body, and so he used it to blast himself out of his holding cell. With this power, he perfected his art of thievery and soon, became one of the most elusive con artist and white collar thief of all of Jude's history...

So the crystals are fundamentally infinite sources of energy that recharge themselves over time? Kind of similar to what I had in mind. But doesn't that 0.07% mean ability users would be kind of rare? And if I got this right, anyone can use Synergy Quartz? Also, is it called Concordia or Harmonia?
One the planet's name I suggest a very simple and short one: Ea. It's pronounced eh-ah.
Random thought: how about Lisa Colburn is also part of the seven people chosen? I also think there should be a healer among the seven, maybe it could be her?

Luffy you fool read what I say and try to understand what I'm saying.

"People are not always born with these abilities and if they are then the powers are very minor and only awake at a later age."

I did NOT say that only 0.07% (da hell did you get that number from?) have special abilities which I guess should be named Synergy or that is the power or whatever since there are Synergy Quartz. The above comment was merely saying that not everyone is born with supernatural abilities because;

  • 1. Do we really want every single human being having the power to destroy something in someway or form?
  • 2. If yes to 1, that then means the world will be pretty much f'd up since they'd just want to get more power, create an army and take over ALL the islands.
  • 3. It helps even it out and make the supernatural abilities MORE of a specialty.

I'm not saying that people cannot gain them somehow, they can - if they wish - decide to train and acquire their own Synergy Ability. That way there is a balance between Normal and 'Super' Humans.

And I dislike this whole supernatural abilities are common and it makes this look more like an anime than a legit story for a game.

Mhmmmm now I get what Snow actually meant. It does have some common ground with my idea since I meant for the abilities to be minor unless you train them in my case as well. But I like your idea that each person has to "awaken" their ability. That way it would mean more if a person has a special ability since they went through the trouble of acquiring it. One thing that I'm still not so sure about: Is the ability each person has determined from birth or can each person unlock one ability through their training that depends on what the person wishes? Snow already mentioned in the cbox that he dislikes my idea, especially the part about genetics so I offer this: every human can have only one ability and it depends on what kind of training they do to acquire it, and every person will have something unique added to it. So let's say that two people start off by training to acquire fire abilities. They both go through the same training and succeed in awakening/acquiring fire powers. Most basic things would be the same, like the common fireball technique, but as they use their powers more they develop their own unique style which no one else can mimic. E.g. fire that can change its direction mid-air or fire that doesn't burn, anything works.
