Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Complaints about Dota 2?

Let me just say, its not using the Warcraft 3 Engine.

Warcraft 3 Engine was the MAIN reason that DotA was so balanced as it only allowed so much within the World Editor - trust me, I know much about the WC3 World Editor.

DotA 2 is unbalanced because it has its OWN engine, thus MORE can be done and with MORE being done it becomes harder to balance individual skills and effects.

DotA 2 isnt insanely unbalanced, there is still balance but I have seen quite the inbalance especially with Bots and Zeus's Ultimate. Bots are 'supposed' to be easy or easier, but since there is no actual random champion for Bots they are programmed to pick A Hero first then B Hero if A is taken.

At the end of the day,

Wow, what a horrible argument for being unbalanced... First off it wasn't given its own engine it is using the source engine. Even if it did have its own engine I don't understand how more things you can do is a bad thing. If anything its an argument for it being more balanced as it can be more finely tuned with out breaking you back with coding you didn't create.

But yes you are right about the bots their AI hasn't been finely tuned yet but they are very easy compared to real players. Also there was no randomization added yet for hero picking in dota2 but will be added probably before the full release of it. I can't argue with your Zeus argument since you really didn't state your problem with it.

You obviously didn't do enough research as there are plenty of magic resistant items to easily give you the upper hand against other heros. Where they may be naturally better then you late game you will have items to stack. If I am Lina and I am facing Lion (very squishy even late game) if I can managed to fire off my ult. and get him to half health it is an easy kill if I built a daegon to level 2 which is almost as strong as her ult. Then he is to low on health to want to stay in the fight and run and you can easily take him down or at least stop him from pushing.

As for a 6 second silence and a 4 second stun some simple logical steps can be taken to prevent the CC from being over powered. One is spreading out a bit when entering team fights and actually flanking you enemies. Consider what they are picking against what your picking - yes, you want to be your favorite hero but if your team has no CC and your all melee maybe you should reconsider who your picking if you going up against a heavy CC team. Dota2 is very heavy in thinking about what you have to do even in my videos you can see how we had to switch characters to fight off a team that planed to do a level one rosh.

I think what happened to you is as Lina is the enemy team was already fed and out leveled you which is why even if you casted all spells one guy he would shake it off. However I'd like to know who were up against as Lina is one of the more powerful characters, he might of not been as squishy as you thought. Her role however is to get in and get out not to linger so you should of also bought something like phaseboots. Try this site for help next time. http://www.dotafire.com/

Any game in which CC is balanced by items that make you immune to magic is maybe just slightly problematic. Unless they removed about half the items from DotA from DotA 2, like that BS item that gives an avatar form immune to magic, and lawl, an item to make ults viable on int characters instead of just making the characters viable themselves, so not interested. It's also plain not fun to be stunned for freaking 7 seconds where you can die in 3 seconds. Also my other complaint of DotA is needless complexity for the sake of complexity, (looking at you, invoker).

As for your other points Dran, you make it sound like LoL has no counter-picking or team composition (nah, that never happens in draft and ranked, = P), or that we don't know how to spread out because no one has AoE's. Amumu would like a word with you, believe me, LoL players know the advantages of not clumping up. Spreading out or not makes no difference to BS single target CC. Also in case you can’t tell, I was joking, nearly every game I play in has at least a spread of champions for every role, and I see counter-picks happen all the time.

LoL was created after dota so yeah it is like it if not a straight off clone from dota. And lets get some facts straight there is only 1 characters that have a stun longer then 4 seconds and it will only to go to five with items so lets try some fact checking. Here is a link for though since I know you haven't played dota2

So all your arguments whining about stunning is invalid. Also before you scream bloody murder about goblin techs. They are still not released (and will probably be nerfed) and it takes awhile to blow up the bomb. Also if your playing against him you should expect it and buy things to counter it or just play differently. The items that I was talking about only give you a slight immunity not complete immunity and if they give you complete immunity its for a short period on one character. Also note these items are extremely hard to get so its not a simple LOL GOT IT NOW. You have to note die and save up gold for it.

Also dota2 is graphically better then LoL and has more and better voice acting.

Also I believe some tournament pick dota2 over lol recently which consider there are less people on dota2 currently then lol it is pretty bad.

And Mazo at least you can trade your hats in tf2. Can you even trade skins in lol?

No, but LoL didn't go to lengths to describe how they wanted their characters to have a unique silhouette then release hats like the Ghastly Ghibus or Spiral Sallet which you can wear on all the characters that clearly don't fit. They still have the unique silhouette, but shit like that is ridiculous. Trading is irrelevant. I'm not going to derail this thread further, but my point is is that a lot of hats seem needlessly contrived.

Though, really discussions like these are pointless and mostly just end in shitposting and pretty much end up existing for the sake of arguing. In reality, the answer to which one is better is personal preference when you are brought with an incredibly open-ended, non-specified question.
