Larkin watched as the first fireball went down the road. At some point, it simply hit some rock and fell to the side. At first the mage thought that at some point he would here a thud or something signalling that it rock bottom, but to his surprise, it did not. The hat made sure to comment on it, which made him mentally note to do everything in his power not to fall off the road. He realized that the torch was given for precisely that reason. How he was going to do this, he did not know. Sighing, he kicked the second fireball. Apparently, it seemed as if it had tripped a wire; however the force at which he had done so was enough to actually activate the trap. Thus, the fire that was engulfing the lump of clothes slowly crept on the wire, burning it slowly and gnawing at it. It happened like this for a few seconds until a *snap* sound was heard. What followed was a series of boulders and stones, falling down and completely crushing the fireball, sliding to the side and going to the never-ending pit. Larkin knew that this was a very dangerous, but this was beyond what he had imagined. Better keep my guard up for this... Taking a deep breath, he kicked the remaining fireballs (two of them) with much more force, which made them go further down the road. Afterwards, he started jogging towards the light of the essence, wanting the fireballs to take care of the other traps as he would travel safely through the place |

The next few fireballs rolled didn't do much, one simply rolling to a stop without setting anything off, but the other tripped a small plate in the floor which sent a barrage of bolts down the path's edge - because the ball had tripped it and not Luffy, the bolts missed, but one bolt deflected the wrong way as it struck another bolt and hit the ground in front of the dresser, which cracked and dropped a few inches, the hat swiftly getting off it as it slide backward and into the abyss with the dresser in tow. Watching it fall until the dresser had vanished from sight, the hat meekly said, "Well, I hope you picked out the clothes you liked, because I don't think a change of wardrobe will be possible from here on out." The balls of fire had freed up the path to a fork - it was a circle that split the path in two, going along the circle's edge in either direction before rejoining together on the far side, the essence not far beyond that. "Might want to keep the torch handy." noted the hat, as darkness obscured the first part of both paths - not enough to block the view of the path itself, but seeing what was actually on the path was another deal entirely. |

As Larkin continued to jog down the path with the torch in his hand, he noticed what happened to the two last fireballs he had kicked towards the end of the pathway. The first one had continued its way safely, stopping and burning until the fabric was ash. The second one, however, wasn't so lucky. It had ended up on a plate which was pressed. Activating the trap, the fireball had unleashed bolts which broke the ground in which the fireball was. This destroyed a portion of the pathway, but it didn't bother Larkin. He was strong enough to jump over the hole, which he did. As he got further, he caught up to the location of the third fireball, which had not met any trap or hole. Stopping to think for a second, the mage broke off the base of the torch. Setting it on fire, he threw it further, unsure whether or not there was more traps or evil things of doom left for him to dodge. Effectively, there was a fork, a circle that split the path in two. Each side continued on to meet again on the other side, where the Perception Essence. There's surely a trap at some point... Which one shall I take? Larkin carefully looked at either paths. They looked exactly the same, so he couldn't possibly imagine what traps would befall him. After much thinking, the mage shrugged and took the right path, simply because he thought it was the "right" thing to do... Okay, bad joke, but yea, he actually thought that he wouldn't die if he took this one. Worst case scenario, he would have to use his physical prowess to get out of this bad situation. After all, Casey's dream and the amulet made it impossible for him to use his magical powers, at least for now. |

As Larkin finally ran out of flaming pants to throw into the darkness, he used the bottom of his torch handle to fill that job once more before opting to venture into the darkness himself without the aid of firey vestments. As he took the right hand path on the circle fork, a small, thin tripwire would snap, releasing a giant hammer that looked like a meat tenderizer with all the spikes on one end, swinging down to swat Larkin off the path into the darkness like a golfer would swat a golfball with his best driver. If Larkin avoided the trap, on the other side, not far from where the path rejoined, he'd find himself on a small platform with a glowing green orb that looked almost too wispy to be substantial enough to touch. If Larkin touched it, he'd be back in the starting room, where he and the hat and the orb would be seen, before the orb shot across the room and disappeared into Casey's chest, though he seemed not to react as it sank into his chest without affecting it, as if it had just ghosted right through him. "Well, that's one down, and with it, some of your magic should have come back." said the hat, and indeed it was true, a bit of his power had returned as the necklace loosened a little, though still unmovable. "Which door would you like next, the one in the corner, or one downstairs?" The one in the corner was an old wooden door with an eerie blue glow behind it. As he took the right fork, Larkin began walking down the path with caution and curiosity. While he didn't like not having his magic, he had to admit that Casey's imagination was very fruitful, and that he should be a designer for video games. He would make millions off the things he was seeing now. In any case, as he continued to walk, the youth triggered a trap. He immediately was on the alert, as a hammer seemed to be coming down swinging towards the location of the mage. Taking a deep breath, he started running towards the giant weapon, the hat telling him that he was suicidal. As it was about to him, the Fairy Tail mage slid like a baseball player trying to get to base, effectively dodging the hammer. Too close!! Afterwards, he ran like mad man to the other end, where Casey's Perception Essence was. The Fairy Tail mage let out a sigh of relief; this was too close for comfort. In any case, he looked at the Essence. It wasn't an orb or some kind of object; rather, it just seemed to be an ethereal substance, an energy floating with green light shining from it. The mage reached it with his hands and felt warm. That's one down, three to go. A flash of light occurred and Larkin was right back at the first room he had come in when he first entered the client's dreams. As he regained his balance and looked around, he felt something unusual. Well, it was very familiar to him, but he had quickly got used to not having it. His magic was back, but not to its full potential. He still had three Essences to get, and they were the key to getting his magic here, in this dream realm. In any case, two doors appeared. One was made of wood, while the second one was blue and glowing, giving off an ominous feeling. The mage looked at the two for a small while before deciding on his choice. Let's go through the creepy blue one. I have a feeling this will be fun! He looked at the hat with a smile as he opened the blue door. While this was a dangerous situation for him, Larkin wanted to have fun while doing his job. |

As Larkin opened the glowing blue door, he there was another flash of light and he found himself in a cave filled to the shins with water. A small outcropping was high enough to be dry from lack of water, and another container sat atop it. This time, instead of a torch, a single bottle was inside, with the label "For Water-Breathing. Not for children ages 8 and up. If you are pregnant while in this dream, please consult your doctor first." The hat had once again reappeared, with a minor change - he was inside a floating bubble this time. "Hello again!" he greeted Larkin with fondly. "Second challenge, the Test of Courage. You must brave the depths to recover his Essence from the bottom of the water-filled shaft." Floating over, he rested on a stalagmite on the floor, next to a tunnel that went straight down - the water had no light and would be very hard to see anything in. "Looks like you need to swim to get to your goal this time - hopefully they'll be a change of clothes later on. Shall we?" said the hat, diving like a fish into the tunnel, water rippling across the cave floor. |

After getting the Perception Essence of Casey, Larkin and the hat headed back to Casey's room, dream edition. The mage could finally feel his magical power coming back, but not to its full extent. The hat had warned him that getting each essence would only give him back a portion of his magic. Larkin sighed, but he felt that for now, it would be enough to deal with the next challenge. Looking around, he noticed that two doors, probably leading to a challenge each, were there waiting. The first one was wooden, while the second was glowing a grim blue light. The mage, the idiot he is, took the one he knew seemed more dangerous. The hat disappeared as Larkin opened the door. In a flash of light, he was now in a cave, where the water was up till his shins. Larkin was quite interested by this new scenery; it was sure more interesting than the dark trap room from a few minutes ago. Pretty cool... Wonder what challenge this is... As he looked around, the mage noticed the small altar where there was another container. Intrigued and knowing full well that there might be something useful inside. There was a bottle, with a label on it. The mage read it and chuckled. The instructions were as followed: For Water-Breathing. Not for children ages 8 and up. If you are pregnant while in this dream, please consult your doctor first. As he finished reading the hat appeared next to him, this time he was in a floating bubble. It greeted the mage once more and told him that the second challenge was the "Test of Courage". Larkin nodded and listened carefully. Apparently, they were some kind of underwater dream, where he would have to recover the Essence at the bottom of this place. With a smile, he looked at the hat and bottle. At first, he was about to open it to "drink" it, but he didn't know what he should do exactly with it. If he drank everything at once, wouldn't he be in trouble. Hum... Do I drink the whole thing, or just a little? Whatever the hat's response, he would do what he was told. Larkin would then jump in the water, swimming moderately fast, trying to find the location of Casey's Courage Essence. |

As Larkin drank the bottle and dove in, the water would be a bit cold, but nothing unbearable - more like hot water that had been left outside for too long and lost its heat. The hat was a bit further down, turning around when Larkin dove in after him. "Just so you know, I don't think that potion will last if this tunnel keeps going, but there should be something to account for that down here...." said the hat, dodging past more stalagmites as they descended. The tunnel had apparently once been part of the cave, and had filled it with water afterwards at some point. Though how a pillar of rock formed on a sideways tunnel was a bit curious. Or perhaps it wasn't. This was a dream, after all - nothing was explainable in the usual sense. The water slowly got darker as they got farther and farther from the surface, to a point where they'd normally be feeling the water's pressure, but weren't. Either a side effect of the potion, or perhaps because it was just a dream involving water, and not actual water. Either way, the weight didn't hinder them as they swam further downward. |

It seemed as though Larkin had to drink the whole magic bottle, so he did just that. Afterwards, he dove in the water, wondering what kind of crazy thing would wait for him later on this second challenge. After all, this could possibly the hardest one, as the mage's movements were limited underwater. He couldn't possibly go full out as well, as he would have to swim, check his oxygen supply AND fight if the need arose. All and all, this challenge would be tough and it was exactly why Larkin was going to give it his all. Not just for him, but especially for Casey, who seemed like a rather nice guy with poor decision-making. In any case, as he started swimming, he caught up to the bubble-wrapped hat. Larkin would feel slightly cold, but it was more warm than anything else. The Fairy Tail mage felt the cold, but it wasn't as much as one would think in these conditions. His clothes weren't exactly warm, but they were comfortable enough to make swimming not that big of a deal. As he continued down, the hat mentioned that the bottle had a reserve of oxygen that wasn't enough to go all the way down. The mage sighed as they turned a corner. He wasn't even worried about this, since the hat stated that there was a way to gain more of it down here. Larkin saw a number of things that seemed to come out straight out of the movies. A rock pillar that came out sideways, fish that had actual wings, a swordfish that had a sword for nose... Wow, Casey has a pretty vivid imagination... Larkin chuckled when he saw a clown fish with a clown nose and red circles on each side of its body. Yup, this was definitely a dream, which meant that somehow, Larkin could take control of some portion of it. After all, while he was in Casey's dreams, the mage deduced (even if it was false) that they were now sharing their dreams. In any case, the young man and the talking hat got deeper into the water realm. At this point, Larkin was expecting rough pressure, but curiously there wasn't. Again, the fact that they were a dream was the reasonable explanation. What waited for the hat and Larkin Falzo up ahead? |

As Larkin and the hat dove deeper into the tunnel's watery depths, something came into view, something that was not a fish or another rock spire. Resting atop another crumbling rock pillar was another pot, one identical to the first. Floating over to the pot, the hat knocked the top off, bubbles pouring out, hinting that there hadn't been in the pot beforehand - meaning it had been down here before the tunnel had been flooded and lodged in the rock. Into the tunnel's waters floated a single potion - another waterbreathing potion. "That doesn't bode well for how deep the tunnel is...." the had said nervously. The tunnel below had no light whatsoever, and was pitch dark. Only the fact that the tunnel had no forks hinted that there was anything at the bottom. |
