Mervix did some weird magic and it brought the Shadow's attention towards him. This gave Shadiic the opportunity to strike back and casted Divum Tentatio. The spell formed above Shadiic and then like a homing missle went straight towards the shadow. It blasted in the back causing it to burst some more and it was weakening. He decided that it would be safe to attack it this time and he brought his leg down on the shadow. He crushed some of the specks with his foot as they splatted on the heel of his shoe. He quickly pulled back and jumped a few feet behind him. He inspected the shadow and it was trying to pull itself back together again.

He thought since it couldn't really move he casted Pluvio Cado. Down came some orbs that once feel to the ground exploded into light which seemed to be burning the shadow. Now what was left was a few wisps of the shadow attempting to gather it self. Shadiic went up to again and decided crush them all. So he went and stomped on any wisp and speck he could see ensuring that he would destroy them. He didn't feel the cold in his boots which meant that they were getting killed. Once he was satisfied that there weren't anymore Shadiic looked at his left hand. It was cold still, but he felt it tingling and that meant that feeling and blood was returning to it. He looked around to see how everyone else was fairing.

Tsu gets up after another exploding midget expoldes above him, they're aim was improving, getting more precise as they throw. "Being shadows, there is no way in hell i can damage them, I'm just to weak to deal any serious damage." The midgets dissapear and Tsu became more allert, they could pop up at any moment. He looks around, Ullara was doing well defending herself, Shadiic had found some use in his spells. He looks around and he can't see Mervix any where, Surely he can look after himself, this is his ind scape after all. He thought, the suddenly a midget exploded right in front of Tsu's body, sending him flying once again. Damn... "Hey shadow midget! No one makes fun of Mervix in his own Mindscape!" Mervix called. Tsu looks to the side of him, Mervix was standing not far from him, Bringing his left arm forward in a swing, a white card 4 feet in length flew out of the glass behind him, it’s steel tips gleaming in the light of the noon sun and it landed in the middle of the shadowy pool of midgets causing them to hiss as several of their own dissipated into black mists. The picture on the card was an ace of spades and a grinning Mervix performing a "peace" sign right in the middle. It seems that Mervix had found his strength to retaliate, so Tsu jumps up and prepares to fight, readying his fists. He way noy be strong, but he can at least fend for himself when he needs to.

He goes in for a punch, which then just goes right through, Just as i thought, my physical attacks can't effect it. But maybe..., he puts his hands out, and yells "LIGHT ARROWS!!" Two arrows go striaght towards them, they hit on impact, but didn't much damage. The midgets just squirm and throws another one of themselves at him. Tsu was to slow to react, and was sent flying through a nearby window. In side were mirrors, mirrors... He then grabs one and jumps through the broken window. "MERVIX!! OVER HERE!!" and he raises the mirror in the air, making it shine in the sun light, hopeing that Mervix would see it.

Despite the fast dwindling numbers of shadow midgets left on this most unreal battlefield, Ullara never let up her guard, her will to see this end soon undiminished by the progress they had made. The explosions that reminded her of the popping sounds of pus bursting out of dirty old wounds were growing ever more frequent as the critters kept up their kamikaze attacks, most of which seemed to concentrate on Tsubasa. Someone's liked. she thought wryly, her observation allowing a chuckle to escape from under her breath.

Ullara returned her attention to the rippling swarm of shadow creatures that remained amassed in a pool of black before her and was about to charge into them when the one named Mervix conjured up a card almost as high as she was tall, pulling it out from the pane of ordinary glass behind him and brought it down into the black puddle of fiends a few feet before her. As the the grinning Mervix Ace card looked on, Ullara decided then to be the best moment for her to strike, taking full advantage the moment provided by her enemies being caught up in an orgy of confusion and flight. She ran towards the edge of the hissing exodus, picking out three she gauged her staff could get at all at once. She brought the staff down vertically on the first, plunging the blunt weapon's thinner end down through its top. Tilting her weapon even before the thing had a chance to disperse, it caught the second with its back end as she swung her staff into a horizontal position, before finishing off the three step attack by crouching low and swinging the staff sideways, catching the last one in its horizontal arc.

In her eagerness to bring this attack to an end swiftly, Ullara's impatience laid her open to a surprise attack from behind. She noticed the approaching shadow as she turned around, the projectile now too close for her to completely get out of its trajectory. She instictively met it with her staff, swinging at it as one in a game of hitting a ball with a stick would. The critter exploded just as her staff hit it and moved it off to her left, a mere foot away from her head. The resultant force of the explosion though not directly before her was enough to fling her sideways. Rolling with the momentum of the blast, Ullara came to a stop a few yards away from Mervix, cold black goo now partially staining her face and drenching her weapon which remained whole. The sound of Mervix's laughter nearby brought her back from her temporary daze. The mirthful laugh that reminded Ullara of one of her more nervous brothers made her look up at Mervix's direction. The girl from the desert was reminded what her father had always told her about men who laughed in the face of adversity making good drinking companion. Ullara decided then and there what she would do once this whole madness was over and done with. "Laughing Man! When this is over, the first round of drink's on you!" she said to Mervix with a smirk on her face before returning her attention to the battlefield.

"MERVIX!! OVER HERE!!"

Mervix turned around to see Tsubasa holding up a piece of glass. What in the... His brows furrowed together as he tried to decipher Tsubasa's intention. An inner light seemed to come on in his head. Oh.

He waved his hands furiously as the midgets continued to explode here and there, doing battle with Ullara. "I don't think I have the stamina to perform magic like that for a while!"

There was another series of explosions as Ullara rolled close by, all covered in goo. "Laughing Man! When this is over, the first round of drink's on you!"

And just like that, the shadow midgets bubbled furiously, seething with some inner fury or perhaps a destabilizing bit of magical pressure within the shadow. Whatever the reason, the midgets seemed to be screaming as they tried to pull apart from each other, their obsidian skins spouting all sorts of midnight boils as they tried to shove one another out of the way. Yet despite how far they pulled, black threads and goo, the substance that held them together, kept them from escaping. Before long, the shadowy midgets erupted, spewing bits of shadowy essence in all areas. The smell that was left behind was strangely that of dark chocolate.

"My pleasure, Lady Ullara," Mervix said, a bout of giggles rising slightly in his voice. He looked around and noticed that his shadow had returned to him. Gingerly but in response to some inner warped logic, Mervix stroked his shadow. It began to ripple again just like it did the first time.

Unlike before, it stayed like that, rippling to some unfelt wind, a piece of gossamer dotted with sparkling stars. Mervix picked it up and it came off the ground, a piece of silk so fine and translucent it looked almost invisible to the naked eye. Mervix turned to the other three, grinning. "Well, looks like we got what we came for. Pick yours up and we should get..."

He turned his eye to the sky and far above, the sun was already past noon. If he was to be any judge of time, it was already half past two. So if the sun set at five, they only had a two and half hours to get this done. Mervix nodded to himself. "Yes we should definitely get going. Follow me. The general store is not too far off."

With that, Mervix hurried off, hopeful that the other three were right behind him.

In the general store, there were objects of all kinds. A shelf full to the brim with sweets and candies of all shapes and colors. Another shelf with flour, sugar, baking powder and yeast. A third shelf contained farming tools of all sorts; sickles, hoes, spades. At the counter, a faceless man in a white shirt and brown apron seemed to tip an invisible hat in their direction before fiddling with the cash register. Behind him was a brown chest, bound with old iron, perhaps where the faceless man had kept the shop's earnings for the day.

Several more faceless people entered the shop, walking up to the counter, picking something from one of the shelves and silently gesturing at the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper in turn took what was taken from the shelves, opened the cast register and pulled out a different object before handing it to them.

A violet top for a lollipop. A blue bow for an aged hoe.

"Hey...I think I see a pattern here," Mervix whispered to the others. "Don't see any eggs but...half-life gold..." A mischievous glint lit up in Mervix's eyes. "...could the eggs be in the treasure chest behind him? It's where the gold is supposed to be after all."

Mervix looked around, surveying the three shelves. "Now...what item rhymes with treasure chest?"

Shadiic defeated the shadow creatures, but his vision blurred and then he lost track of what happened. He then noticed that he was in a very strange store. The store had everything and yet the same time nothing. What they had in the store was very strange as each item did not belong there. After getting use to his surroundings, he finally attributed the warpness due to the fact that they were in a dream and it was a weird palce. Mervis came out and asked what rhymed with treasure chest. It was apparently one of the items on the shelf so that meant that they had to go find it.

Problem was that all the stuff that Shadiic knew that was in the farming section did not rhyme with chest. He searched and searched, but over some time he had no idea how long as time surely did not move as expected, gave up. He decided that he was a dead weight with all this brainy stuff and so he went outside the store. The sky was weird, the whole place was weird and he just sat down on the ground of the store waiting for the other three to shout out in success.

He waved his hands furiously as the midgets continued to explode here and there, doing battle with Ullara. "I don't think I have the stamina to perform magic like that for a while!" This now made Tsu feel useless, there was nothing he could do to help, he started to doubt his abilities and his reason to be here. He lowers the mirror and then one final midget came flying towards him, he raises the mirror before it expolded and it broke. The midgets scream in pain, "Laughing Man! When this is over, the first round of drink's on you!" All the midgets then started to act strangely, as they bubble furiously, it was a bizzare sight to behold.

"Well, looks like we got what we came for. Pick yours up and we should get..." Mervix said with a grin. This must be one of the items thay were looking for, One down two to go. He thought, All that was needed was an egg and a unknown item, since the second riddle had not been solved. "Yes we should definitely get going. Follow me. The general store is not too far off." Mervix said, as he ran off down the street, Tsu followed him hasteily.

Minutes later they arrive at the General Store, the place seemed to be full of food, but no eggs, "This was going to be more tricky than I thought." Tsu said to himself. At the counter, a faceless man in a white shirt and brown apron seemed to tip an invisible hat in their direction before fiddling with the cash register. Behind him was a brown chest, bound with old iron, perhaps where the faceless man had kept the shop's earnings for the day. "Hey...I think I see a pattern here," Mervix whispered to the others. "Now...what item rhymes with treasure chest?" Tsu thought, about this, Rhyming with chest... Pest, guest, hest, test, fest, best, vest, nest, zest, west, quest to name a few. Best, breast, behest, confessed, guessed, guest, jest, lest, messed, nest, pest, rest, test, vest, west, wrest... He thought, but none of them seemed to be on the shelves. He looked at the other, they were thinking hard, but they were in the same boat as he was.

The black mass bubbled and toiled torturously before it exploded before her, sending splatters of black all around and scenting the air with a darkly sweet aroma. Ullara looked on with disinterest, her attention more drawn towards Mervix's reply. "My pleasure, Lady Ullara," the green haired man said with traces of giggles punctuating his genial consent. Nodding back to indicate her acceptance of the drinking deal, Ullara stood upright wiping the black mess off her, the effort leaving a thin trail of tar adhering stubbornly to her skin. Looking over again to Mervix, she noticed the green-haired mage picking something out of the shadow beneath his feet. At his behest, Ullara too retrieved the length of sparkly silk from her shadow. She draped the delicate material across her shoulder, pleased that its non-colour did not clash with her own multi-coloured attire. As Mervix sped off into the distance, Ullara followed behind without question in a leisurely trot, wondering what new trickery would confound them next.

Mervix had led them to the strangest little store. Within were stored all manner of farming equipments and sweets. An odd combination of goods to be sold in a store, surely. Ullara thought, recalling the joke about the man who asked for fork handles only to be given four candles instead. The private joke made her chuckle under her breath while she surveyed the store with interest, wondering if it indeed had fork handles and candles on sale. As she looked around without paying much attention to the strangeness of the proprietor or any of his wordless customers, Mervix made an observation and conveyed his findings in a hushed whisper to them before posing yet another riddle. The young man with the fetching ear-piercings left the rest to it without even attempting an answer, prompting Ullara to believe the need for thinking a taxing task for the young man with light orbs at his command who just left and waited outside, sitting on the ground with his own thoughts in solitude.

Once again it was Tsubasa who volunteered an answer, or rather to be more accurate on this occasion, many answers. Instead of giving a single reply, he listed a whole litany of similar sounding words without coming to a final decision. Ullara wondered if that was part of Tsubasa's magic- that he could somehow tap into an ether machine that stored and searched words scattered amidst an entangling web of information and retrieve them as if they were right under his fingertips. Having listened in on his impressive search results, Ullara decided to give it her best shot.

"Chicken breasts." she said at first before coming to the conclusion that cuts of poultry would most unlikely be sold in a store such as this. "No. Golden vest.". She ventured one last time after giving the riddle more considered thought.

Poor Shad, Mervix thought as he watched his friend make his way outside. Not only were the shadows a pest for him, now he has to deal with another riddle. Compound that with the fact that he couldn't read the riddles...

Mervix went out after Shadiic, sitting himself beside the taller man, searching his social database for something to say to his friend. Finally running over all sorts of fancy phrases in his head, Mervix decided for an honest response. Unsure if Shadiic was close enough a friend to accept a shoulder hug, Mervix settled for a sympathetic look and a squeeze to Shad's right shoulder instead.

"I'm sorry for dragging you all the way here," Mervix began. "I wish we could have met under better circumstances. Maybe at a coffee shop in Magnolia. Oh! I know a good steak house there. Or maybe Ranunculus Town. It's a pretty interesting when there's so much magic around. Or...hey! I could take you to my guild! I forgot to tell you. I joined Tartaros!" Mervix grinned, displaying his black guild tattoo on the palm of his right hand. Mervix looked at the ground at his feet. "Not sure why I did it though. Pax would know but you'll probably have to wait for the answer because that's not going to be the first thing I'll be doing when I see him."

A little afraid of having to sit through an awkward silence, Mervix continued to blurt out. "Well at least we are here right? Together I mean. On another adventure too. Too bad Isaac isn't here. You remember Isaac I'm sure. Do you know where he is? I haven't bumped into him at all ever since we parted." Mervix forced a small chuckle. "I still miss the way he talks though. It was just so...Isaac."

Mervix spied Tsubasa working hard on the answer to the riddle. Sighing, Mervix looked at the sky. I wonder what'll happen if we don't get the masks before sundown. Do we just...wake up?

"Chicken breasts."Ullara said at first, jerking Mervix out of his reverie. "No. Golden vest."

"Ga...there all just random guesses. What here would rhyme with treasure...?"
Mervix paused, his mind connecting the dots. "You have got to be joking."

Mervix stood up, walking to the cashier with purpose in his stride. "The rules here are that you have to enter the store, give something to the cashier and the cashier will give you something in exchange which will rhyme."

Mervix stopped in front of the cashier, holding out an empty hand. "I think the answer is blue pidgeon."

The air seem to still for a moment as if caught in an awkward position. The faceless storekeeper seemed to stare at him, its head tilted to one side, perhaps in bewilderment. Then ever so slowly, the storekeeper turned around and walked towards the chest behind him. Mervix flashed a grin at the other three. "I exchanged a random guess for that treasure chest."

The storekeeper reached out to the chest which suddenly shot up on wooden claws. It opened its lid and with a long, luminous purple tongue, dragged the storekeeper into its "mouth", shutting its lid just as quickly, jiggling slightly as if trying to swallow food a little too large for it. Then it sprouted wooden appendages akin to wings, giving off a low sounding cluck, almost like that of a chicken; a big, hollow chicken.

With deliberate steps, it walked towards them, flapping its creaking wooden "wings". Mervix took steps back to the three. "I think I saw the eggs inside. But how do we get the erm..."chicken" to lay them?"

Eh making hens lay eggs? That is easy replied Shadiic. He went back inside the store and looked at the chicken that would lay them the egg. Well when he actually looked at the thing, it wasn't a chicken. It was a treasure chest looking like a chicken.... Maybe? It was all too stupid to make any sense, but making a chicken lay eggs is easy as piss. He looked around the store and noticed that there wasn't anything big enough to keep it. Instead then they will turn the entire store into a coop.

He looked over to the other three and told them the plan. Right everyone so here is what we are going to do. To make this treasure chicken lay the egg we need to make a nest for it to want to lay its egg. For normal chickens its something soft like hay, straw and grass. Here for the treasure chicken, I think the stuff around the store is more than enough. Next, we need to make the room pitch black. So that means covering all the windows so no lights can enter. Once that is done, it would tell the chicken over there it's night time then it will go to its nest and sleep. Chickens lay eggs in the morning, just before dawn. So before we make the room pitch black, we need to find a light switch. Something that would grow brighter like the rising. And we can't increase the brightness too much. The more quicker it gets brighter, the more unnatural it is and the higher chance of a rampaging and disoreintated chicken. So that's the plan. A nest, lights we can increase the brightness and black out those windows.

Shadiic got into pace with things as he looked around the store. He picked a corner of the store that had enough room for the nest. Now what to put in the nest? He decided to just grab everything off the shelf and place it down. Bigger the item, the better. What kind of chicken would sleep in a nest that's like sawdust? It might be soft, but it would be too hot for the egg. So big clunky stuff was good. Grabbing the farming tools from the shelf the threw them on the ground to make the base. They still needed a lot more to make this nest inviting for the chicken.

"Chicken breasts."Ullara said at first, jerking Mervix out of his reverie. "No. Golden vest." Tsu admiered Ullara's guesses, although they were the same as his. "Ga...there all just random guesses. What here would rhyme with treasure...?" Mervix spurted out creating a paused of silence that had filled the air. "You have got to be joking." Mervix stood up, walking to the cashier with purpose in his stride. "The rules here are that you have to enter the store, give something to the cashier and the cashier will give you something in exchange which will rhyme." This was true, this is what seemed to be happening, what an unusual store. Tsu thought to himself.

Mervix stopped in front of the cashier, holding out an empty hand. "I think the answer is blue pidgeon." What? But that doesn't rhyme, what's he up to... Tsu thought. "I exchanged a random guess for that treasure chest." Tsu cracked up laughing, "Of course, so we were right after all, my lady Ullura. What a strange answer." This caught Tsu by surprise, he never really had done that before, he was really likeing this place.

The sight kinda distubingly disgusting for Tsu, bet then this what you get for being in the mindscape. "I think I saw the eggs inside. But how do we get the erm..."chicken" to lay them?" This was a valid point, there was no way that Tsu could know how it can lay an egg, since he never had one.

"Eh making hens lay eggs?" That is easy replied Shadiic. He had looked up at the Tsu and the others. "Right everyone so here is what we are going to do. The more quicker it gets brighter, the more unnatural it is and the higher chance of a rampaging and disoreintated chicken. So that's the plan. A nest, lights we can increase the brightness and black out those windows."

This was a bright idea, a nest should be easy, this was Shadiic's time to shine. "Good plan, I can use my shadow mist to create the darkness, since it emits a dark mist and all. But, unfortunately, I cannot create a light bright enough to awake it." But, Tsu knew full well that was all he good contribute for the current time being.
