Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Ullara followed silently behind the young boy, her reverence for the Goddess's realm kept her from speaking out. Previous sojourns to Gaea's domain had taught her that not all things were what they appeared to be, such as a mirror appearing out of nowhere before the boy amidst the sands of this alien desert landscape. The dark haired boy walked right through the mirror without turning around nor did he had to for Ullara was certain to follow, knowing that awaiting beyond the silvery portal were the answers to all her questions and she would learn the reasons for her summon soon enough. If anything, she was looking forward to an audience with the Great Goddess for she knew of no Greens Keeper before her save the first who had ever been granted such privilege. Ullara followed suit and stepped into the mirror without hesitation as adrenalin raced through her veins like wild horses charging across the desert plains. The mercurial surface of the mirror/gateway rippled like the surface of the lakes surrounding Coreopsis as she stepped through, her heart racing at the prospect of fighting alongside the Goddess's generals.

As she emerged from the other side of the mirror, Ullara's first reaction was one of confusion and bewilderment. Stood in an alien place that was neither verdant nor luscious as she had expected Gaea's inner sanctum to be, Ullara could see instead 3 other figures besides her errant guide before her, none of which resembled anything as she had imagined Gaea's generals to be. Their very human semblance alarmed her for even though as a newly ordained Greens Keeper who had not met many of the Goddess's generals, she did know enough to realise the three before her were not part of that august collection of elemental beings who would one day lend her their strengths in battle. The globe of obsidian sun bating down on them from on high was the final sign that convinced her she had indeed been misled. Her muscles tensed up with this realisation and her battle instinct began to take over as every muscle on her body was now primed for the inevitable confrontation to come.

Poised to react to an attack from the treacherous enemy who had lured her here by deceit, Ullara quickly scanned the area, her eyes picking up every corner, nook and cranny this alien place before her presented, searching for strategic advantage from the lay of the land. After the briefest confrontation between man and child came to an unresolved end, Ullara listened in on the conversation that followed between tormentor and the tormented, her attention drawn to what was finally divulged by the strange child named Pax. Realising she had been enlisted, albeit without consent, to aid the green-haired one whom the child had referred to as Mervix, Ullara found herself less on edge for at last an explanation for this duplicitous ploy was revealed. The lessons her father had repeatedly taught her now rang true in her head as she was reminded that a battle known was half a battle won. Even the prospect of death should they perish in this unreal place did not alarm her as much as it should for she was in no doubt of the outcome of the battle ahead. Prompted finally by the child to each ask a question, Ullara cut to the chase and responded without hesitation.

"What these three tasks be that you need our strengths for, child?" Ullara finally spoke, addressing the child above them with great confidence.

"Is Mervix in danger?" Shadiic asked and Mervix nodded in agreement, thankful that his friend had asked that. Mervix tried to give him what he hoped would be an encouraging smile before he spoke. "Exactly. That's what I'd like to know."

"Also, if we were here to help, why was it that you chose us three to assist, what meaning do we have for this?" The other man spoke.

"Understandable questions," Pax nodded, turning a shade lighter if one were watching close enough.

"What these three tasks be that you need our strengths for, child?"
The woman asked.

"You cut to the chase. I admire that, Lady Ullara. The three of you were led here by me in order to help Mervix...deal with a long delayed consequence so to speak. This world is an alternate realm called the Mindscape, a place where the imagination and fantasies of every creature alive congregate and form a network of reality, real enough to be felt by those who pass by and craft these lands as they dream at night.

Be warned however. While these lands, resemble Fiore they are in no way bound by the same laws. In short, everything here is not as it seems. Trust nothing and believe only in the strength of your heart and the strength of companionship.

To answer your question, Tsubasa Krull, each of you carry within you a Mindscape of your own stronger than those in Coreopsis."
Pax gave each of them a long look before he continued. "For privacy's sake, I believe I need not divulge the details of your individual Mindscape. Suffice to say that this journey would be of better benefit to you than it would others I could have called.

The winds began to howl a little stronger over the town, blowing refuse of the long forgotten Market District past them. There was a distant rumbling in a distance. For the first time, Pax showed a hint of fear, his tiny hands gripping the sides of his shirt with a death grip. "I've wasted too much time. The first task is already underway and they are already working to unravel the fabric of this reality. Obtain the masks to enter the ball. Be done no later than sundown."

Pax turned to Shadiic, a faint look of pity in his eyes. "And as for your question, please help me keep him alive."

The mirror which held Pax's image shattered and in a series of blinding flashes, the entire town seemed to reassert itself; colors becoming brighter and newer, bright carnival music and laughter filled the air as well as an assortment of people, all in garishly bright clothing, thin and seemingly made of wood, blank slates where their faces should have been. They moved about like puppets on strings, jerking in sudden movements as they made their way to the edge of the river behind the four.

A boat sailed by, yellow as the bright sun that hung above them, checkered with black patches. A round, short faceless man with oily hair and a red and green cloak stood in the boat holding up a wooden sign.

Announcement: Masks to the Midnight Ball to be issued to the winners of the Chase
Gather the following items and bring them to me:
A half life gold in a white treasure chest
Fragrance by a bed only used once
One part of one whole by candlelight

"So…we just have to win this…Chase and we can get those masks. Sounds simple enough...” Mervix said. Sighing a little, he turned to the three, a little sheepishly. "I am absolutely and terribly sorry for dragging the three of you into this. So...first thing's first. I believe we haven't been introduced. I'm Mervix Zell." Mervix extended his hand to the one Pax called "Tsubasa".

The sound of distant thunder in a distance caused Mervix to flinch, his hand retracting slightly. "Erm...maybe it's not a good time to start with introductions just yet. Maybe we can talk on the way. I know this town like the back of my hand but I have no idea what the three items are. Any clue?"

Shadiic watched the scene unfold in front of him. Pax was explaining that though this may seem like Fiore, the laws and reality as they knew it were changed. He watched as it seemed like Pax needed to leave. Time must be short or something must keep him from helping the group as it seemed like he had to gather us three to assist Mervix in his journey. They had to obtain the masks for the ball, but by sundown? What did he mean by sundown? Did time move the same in reality or did it move at all the same? That was quite concerning as they might reach sundown at any moment so they needed to figure out how to obtain the masks.

The whole scene changed and everything was distorted. Light shone from a mirror and the whole place changed instantly. On a boat was a sign which seemed to hold some writing, but alas Shadiic could not read. Ever since on his journey he could never read and it gave him problems. People treated him like dirt and he had made silly mistakes. It was quite pathetic, but he had met some people who did not belittle him due to his upbringing. Still he had to try and figure out how to obtain the masks as quickly as possible. For Mervix and themselves as he had a nagging suspicion that if they failed, then they would bite the dust. He looked over to the other three and said as he pointed to the sign. Quickly tell me what that says. I can't read.

Tsu stood there, listening to this child called Pax. Trust nothing and believe only in the strength of your heart and the strength of companionship." This had now spiked even more of an interest to him now. The mind-scape, this will deemed a worthy challenge. he thought to himself.

"To answer your question, Tsubasa Krull, each of you carry within you a Mindscape of your own stronger than those in Coreopsis."
Pax gave each of them a long look before he continued. "For privacy's sake, I believe I need not divulge the details of your individual Mindscape. Suffice to say that this journey would be of better benefit to you than it would others I could have called." Our own mind-scape, I wonder...This had made him think long and hard about all this infomation about dreams, the mind-scape and all things that can defy the laws of unconscious mind, this all should be worth the while, aslong as they don't treval into his. "I've wasted too much time. The first task is already underway and they are already working to unravel the fabric of this reality. Obtain the masks to enter the ball. Be done no later than sundown." Pax turned to the one that was called Shadiic, a faint look of pity in his eyes. "And as for your question, please help me keep him alive." He then had then shattered along with the glass he was in.

Then in a sudden, people and music appeared in that instant, along now with a wierd lookung mask attached to his face, he tried the tae it off, but it didn't budge. He looked at the others and they all had the same mask but in different shapes. A boat sailed by, yellow as the bright sun that hung above them, checkered with black patches. A round, short faceless man with oily hair and a red and green cloak stood in the boat holding up a wooden sign.

"So... we just have to win this... Chase and we can get those masks. Sounds simple enough... I am absolutely and terribly sorry for dragging the three of you into this." "It's ok... It's not like we had chance in the first place." Tsu replied, Merv then turns and raises a hand, "I am absolutely and terribly sorry for dragging the three of you into this. So...first thing's first. I believe we haven't been introduced. I'm Mervix Zell." The sound of distant thunder in a distance caused Mervix to flinch, his hand retracting slightly. Tsu reads the sign, Riddles, I see. Well... "The first one is an egg. So i'll take that one, you guys can figure out the rest." "Quickly tell me what that says. I can't read." Tsu then reads out the sign to the one called Shadiic, the fact that he couldn't read could be bothersome for the group.

Ullara stood defiantly in the strange wind gushing about her, the delicate pendants on her hairpins dancing wildly above her head to a silent battle hymn while every fibre of her desert-honed muscles held on steadfastly to their readiness to fight. The child named Pax had been telling this ragtag group of strangers about the nature of the place before this unnatural lament blew up as he gave the place a name- the Mindscape. He described the myriad potentials of the place and the various perils contained therein, all unimportant facts to Ullara for to her this was and would be just another battleground, regardless what it preferred to be called. So I can shape this place as I would in my sleep? No matter, I shall shape it as my victory. Ullara thought with great confidence, her resolve refusing to entertain any failure. The child addressed one of the 3 men gathered named Tsubasa, the one whom Ullara'd thought had an unhealthy predilection for no colours in his clothes, and informed him of the reasons why they were brought here, explaining how each wielded unique strengths that made them suitable candidates for the dangerous tasks ahead. The declaration made Ullara chuckle for she was never in doubt of her own abilities nor did she need any child to remind her.

As the wind that howled around her began to rage ever stronger, Ullara detected the wraith of fear crossing the young child's unlined face. It was a subtle change Ullara recognised from the desert animals she had hunted with her kinsman for they would often display the same haunted look as the prospect of danger loomed nearer. Pax managed to inform the group of their first task before finally disappearing in a cacophony of shattered glass, his form within the mirror broken amidst the fractured shards before he could fully answer the Greens Keeper's query. Just as swiftly as the last broken glass dispersed into ghostly twinkling sparks and faded into the emerging sunshine, the world around Ullara too began to shift in the last dying hum of the once howling wind.

Throngs of faceless marionettes in garish clothes began to emerge amidst a crescendo of cantankerous carnival music, drowning out the last whispers of the wind dying about her. As the four were joined by these new surreal additions to the strange landscape, Ullara noticed Tsubasa tugging at the side of his face as if he was trying to pry an unseen mask off his person. It appears this Mindscape has a way to affect each one of us in different ways. she observed quietly, pondering what strange trick the Mindscape would try on her. As the jerky mob began to move forward, Ullara's attention once again returned to the faceless things, their ever encroaching presence now worrying enough for her to grip her staff ever tighter whilst her legs spread further apart, priming herself for any sudden attacks. But no such danger presented itself as they all made their way past her and onto the river bank behind them. Turning around, she witnessed a garishly bedecked boat with a man in equally garish garb that clashed with the boat's colours holding up a large sign. Never one to bury her head in books, it took Ullara great effort to read out every word on the sign held by the faceless gondolier. Her misery was put to an end as Tsubasa read the words out to the young man with the most fetching ear-piercings who apparently was even less adept at reading than she was.

As she ignored Mervix's apology and pondered the words of the riddles amidst the clapping thunder, Ullara heard Tsubasa loudly announcing the solution to the first riddle and proudly laid his claim. Not wanting to be outdone, she ventured her guess out loud. "The shades. Shadow for the last." she said without any trace of self-satisfaction escaping her countenance. With her answer given, she looked to Mervix and the one with the most fetching ear-piercings and waited impatiently for their contributions.

"Quickly tell me what that says. I can't read," Shadiic said as the boat sailed by.

"Ga...my bad..." Mervix began but Tsubasa beat him to it, reading out the sign to Shad. I didn't know he couldn't read. Mervix giggled to himself. Country bumpkin? Cute.

"The first one is an egg. So i'll take that one, you guys can figure out the rest." Tsubasa declared.

"The shades. Shadow for the last." Ullara added quickly after.

"An egg and a shadow huh?" Mervix mused aloud, his eyebrows furrowed in concentration as he tried to make a connection with the two items. "Ok...Eggs...I know a general store just at the end of this street. My mother and..." His voice trailed off for a moment, a flash of pain so transient over his face that a duller eye would have missed it. "...my sister used to pick sweets from there."

Mervix looked at his feet, the light of the heat-less noon sun throwing it far ahead of him. He knelt down his hand pausing over his shadow, fingers frozen in quiet contemplation. Could it be...that easy...?

Heaving a sigh, Mervix stroked his shadow and it quivered like a length of silk. Mervix leapt back but his shadow stayed where it was, still quivering like the disturbed surface of water. Shadiic's, Tsubasa's and Ullara's shadows began to ripple as well, turning a darker shade of black. "Let me guess. A shadow dog? Shadow cat? Some demonic shadow? A shadow clone? Come on! Don't make me wait too long." Mervix muttered, partly due to nervousness and the rest due to an attempt at bravado. Darn it! Where is my staff when I need it?

Bursting from the shadows were thousands of 3 dimensional little midgets, creatures composed mostly of webbed shadows, clicking and giggling as they poured out of the shadows like spilled black ink. As one they came at the four, their little black hands reaching out greedily at unguarded flesh. Mervix leapt back, looking around for a suitable reflection. Darn it! How am I going to use my magic without Pax? Damn damn damn!

Tsubasa and Ullara burst out the answers to the riddle which acutally made Shadiic glad that he didn't need to think and figure out what it meant. He really wasn't good at this stuff so he just waited for what happened next. It seemed that these items had provoked a memory in Mervix's mind as he was remembering something about his mother and his sister. He was mumbling to himself most likely reliving a memory.

Something strange started to happen and Shadiic looked at the ground and noticed something funny happening with his shadow. What could it be? What was going to happen? It seemed dangerous so he jumped back away from it. He jumped back in time as there were thoughsands of small little black specks that seemed like small insects. The specks that bursted out of Shadiic's shadow were starting to stick together and form a black creature. It seemed unnatural and the air around it felt cold. Shadiic drew his weapon and readied his spell for the encounter with this shadowy beast.

The shadow moved towards Shadiic and it seemed intent of taking his life. It was sure a crazy place as this wouldn't happen in real life. The thing jumped at him and he striked back, plunging into the shadows body with his weapon. It sunk deep, but it seemed to have no effect as all. It seemed to have split around where his weapon impaled the body and Shadiic realised that it was just a mass of those specks combined into one form. He tried to pull his weapon out and switch over to magic. One so that he could get out of range of the shadow and two, his hand started to get cold and felt that it would only get colder. He couldn't kick himself free as the shadow would just defend in the same manner as it would against his weapon. It was infuriating that the shadow had such an natural defence against physical attacks.

Realising that he couldn't harm it physically, he had to resort to magic in order get his arm free. He aimed his palm at the shadows head which proceeded to form a mouth and attempt to consume his other hand. His spell was starting to charge when the shadow chomped onto his forearm swallowing his hand. The pain felt differently to what he expected as instead of pain he would expect from an animal bite, the pain was due to how cold his hands were becoming. The mass blob of shadow swirled across his hand and lower forearm and it felt like a thousand ants moving across it. The feeling started to wane as his hand became numb from the cold sensation he felt. His other hand that was impaled in the shadows body with his weapon was getting into a bad situation. The pain was subsiding, but that meant that it was getting to cold for his body and it might die off. The shadow seemed content on devouring him entirely.

Shadiic started to sweat from the stress of dealing with the shadow when he noticed that his spell was ready. Smiling, he shouted Rutilus Astrum, the head of the shadow seemed to expand as white light shone from the inside. It continued to expand and as more light shone from Shadiic's palm, the shadow could take no more. The head of the creature exploded and specks floated everywhere. It seemed to have loosened the bonds of the specks as Shadiic could pull out his other hand.

He checked his hand and noticed that his left hand was blue and numb, but it hasn't started to blacken. That was a good sign that his hand was still alive though it was completely numb and lifeless. It was going to take sometime before he could use his left hand and his weapon, but that wouldn't matter on such beasts. He looked at his right hand and saw that it was a pale grayish colour. He could still feel with it, but his capacity to function had severely reduced as he wasn't able to control it properly and there was a continuous tingling sensation.

Shadiic looked back at the shadow and it was a headless torso. It's body was flailing about and it seemed like it couldn't hold its form as on occasions it started to fuzz out as the specks attempted to stay together. Shadiic wanted to strike back, but with both hands disabled by the frost the shadow seems to create then he wasn't able to use any spells until atleast his right hand has recovered. This meant that the shadow had time to recover and Shadiic couldn't use any physical attacks as it was pointless. As just mere moments went by, the shadow seemed to stabilize and the remaining specks were reforming back into a complete shadow, head and all. Though there was a significant difference to the size of what it first was as it seemed with the spell, he had managed to destroy a number of the specks and now the shadow was smaller due to the lesser amount of specks available to make its body. Shadiic in the meantime was gripping and relaxing his right fist in hopes of pushing more blood through. At the same time as the shadow had recovered and had taken on a smaller form, Shadiic's right hand had regained some sensation and control. Eyeing the smaller shadow, Shadiic prepared for his next move.

"...my sister used to pick sweets from there." This seemed to be a difficult for him to mention, this place must have been affiliated with him somehow. "So, take me there, the quicker me move, the quicker we'll all be out of here." He turns to Merv, "Will you show us the way?" The sun mid reached midday, so time was of the essnace, they already had two of three... But the second was a problem. Then a shiver hits Tsu's spine, as his shadow starts to waver, this couldn't be good, he thought. Black little creatures arise from his shadow, cackling and giggling aloud to each other "What the...". Tsu steps back, they step forwards, he steps right, they follow. They were following his movements, taunting him, then they leap out at him.

Tsu dodges, then a second one comes, and Tsu dodges it again. They were vicious little buggers, they just keep reaching out to him, wanting to grab him. But they suddenly stop, right infront of him, stairing and giggleling at him, as if they were planning something sinister. They grab one there own and threw it at him, Tsu was confused, why whould the do that. But then the shadow started to waver in the air, it got closer and blows up in his face, sending him flying backwards. His back hit's a wall, and he bounces of it on to the ground. So they can explode, how fun He thought. Another one come flying towards him, this time he dodges it before it explodes. He didn't know what to do right now, he needed something fast.

Ullara watched the shadows came alive with menace impassively as each of the mages' shades danced beneath their feet. What once was flat now a gloop of insidious life, the shadows under them began to clump and coagulate into little horrors the likes of which she had never seen. As little shadow menaces emerged en masse in a dark chorus of clicks and giggles, each standing barely above her toned knees, Ullara jumped back quickly like a gazelle leaping backwards in time, putting as much distance as possible between herself and the surging mass. Crouching down with her staff held firmly behind, Ullara eyed the little shadow movements, watching their every move to evaluate her best line of attack.

She heard the one with the fetching ear-piercings shouting an incantation of sorts with one of his hand held in a shadowy maw while his other weapon-wielding hand pierced into his miniature adversary remained caught in its amorphous substance. A white light grew from his weaponless hand within its prison and set his trapped hand free as his attacker summarily dispersed into specks of black only to reconstitute once more. Tough little critters. she thought to herself. Seeing none of Gaea's generals have yet developed any magic that would be of use, Ullara dismissed the idea of turning to their aid from her thoughts for the moment. Noticing the mage with the fetching ear-piercings grimacing as he retrieved his hands, Ullara noticed the burns of cold on his limbs. No touching, then. she decided as she noted the ramification of direct contact with the little clicking nuisances.

Sensing the movement of fast moving gloop from the corner of her eyes, Ullara turned to see the most amusing spectacle unfold before her as the little shadow things tossed one of their kins towards the man named Tsubasa like those acrobats she had seen growing up, throwing one of their own into mid air at the man like a miniature obsidian clown flying out of a canon. The monster projectile seemed to hover for the briefest time as its target flashed a malicious grin, taunting its prey before blowing itself up before the monochrome attired man, sending Tsubasa flying backwards into a nearby wall. At least some of us are having fun. she thought as she heard the ones who did the throwing clicking and giggling with malicious glee. So they can explode as well. she noted with interest. As Tsubasa dodged a second exploding acrobatic midget, Ullara decided she was ready to launch her retaliation.

The creatures before her were not as fast as she was and she twirled her staff in a swirling motion as she charged forward, the weapon making two full rotations as she aimed her attack low to make sure it connected with as many little shadow critters as she could get, ensuring each were hit more than once before they could get near her. A few managed to evade the blunt end of her staff, but two were not as lucky and dispersed upon contact with her staff. That wasn't too bad. she thought as she assessed the result of her attack. Seems easy enough. Hardly put much effort into that one. she smiled wryly as she received the answer she wanted, knowing now how much force to put into her swings and jabs.

The desert huntress swiftly turned around when she noted three shadowy movements behind her getting into formation, grabbing one of their own at both ends by its short limbs as they prepared to launch the giggling bomb at her. She charged towards the trio as the two shadowy handlers held the volunteer, swinging it back and forth to gain momentum. "Not so fast." she said as she met the creature that was about to be slung with her staff, bringing it down and hard on the thing's head and sent it dispersing into the non-hot sun in a curling wisp of non-light. Shifting the staff quickly with a swift twist of her wrist made sure the other two joined its fate, both their dark heads meeting each end of Ullara's staff twice as she twirled the blunt weapon around her knees with practiced ease. "Five down, more to go." she noted to herself, tallying the numbers up out loud as if to remind herself of the score before turning round to face more attacks. What nuisance... she thought as she turned her staff slowly in her hands, waiting for her shadowy attackers to charge forward. "...yet such fun." Ullara said without any trace of a smile on her face, finishing her thoughts vocally as she stood her ground before the surging horde of little darknesses.

Mervix watched in horror, his hands backed against a shop as his three companions did battle against the shadowy midgets. Fascinating enough, none of the marionette-like citizens of the Mindscape Shirotsume were around although Mervix didn't recall them leaving or fleeing in terror for that matter.

Rutilus Astrum!

Mervix turned back to the battle, watching as Shadiic retreated, holding his hand as the shadowy creature reformed itself after having exploded with a flash of brilliant light. Something had happened and Mervix took a step in the man’s direction before pausing, his legs unable to move. Move, damn you! A friend’s life at stake here! Move! But despite his mental wrangling, his legs refused to move, shaking with unrestrained fear.

A bead of sweat trickled down his brow when an explosion occurred nearby, splattering him with black ink. Mervix touched it gingerly and the black substance stuck to his fingers, sticky black goo of some kind. Tsubasa seemed to have escaped the worst of the blast, darting about as the shadowy midgets threw another of their own at him, giggling and erupting like a black bubble.

As Ullara took to battle, Mervix watched in admiration as the fearless warrior swirled straight at the shadowy mass. “Ullara!” Mervix shouted but finished lamely with a “Be careful…” as the green haired lady whirled through unharmed, mashing several midgets with her staff. Come on, you idiot! Move!

But I can’t. I’ve never felt so helpless before, echoed another voice deep inside him. Just let this end. It’s all a dream anyway. And it’s not like I can do anything to help now.

Wait…, Mervix paused as Ullara danced with the midgets, her staff moving with a deadly grace. This is more than a dream. It’s the Mindscape. If Pax can form objects here in the Mindscape when I channel magic to him… Mervix clenched his fists, reaching behind for the store window behind him. Come on. This is going to work. This is where you draw your power from. You can’t chicken out now. Not against this world’s natural denizens.

“Hey shadow midget!” Mervix called, his left arm hidden behind him. The creature turned its attention on him “No one makes fun of Mervix in his own Mindscape!”

Bringing his left arm forward in a swing, a white card 4 feet in length flew out of the glass behind him, it’s steel tips gleaming in the light of the noon sun and it landed in the middle of the shadowy pool of midgets causing them to hiss as several of their own dissipated into black mists. The picture on the card was an ace of spades and a grinning Mervix performing a "peace" sign right in the middle.

Laughing both out of joy and a need to force his fear out, Mervix barely rolled out of the way as the midgets threw two of their own at him in retaliation, exploding against the glass window behind him and shattering it. The card vanished in a smattering of rainbow light but Mervix carried on laughing. The rest of this day was going to be fun. He would make sure of it.
