Mako watched his reactions and the small quirks and little movements he made. A cunning warrior knew his opponent before he thought them, however he wasn't about to run gung-ho into battle against him, the man was doing a good job of concealing it but there was enough for the mage to put together that he was indeed a mage. He could sense a faint magical energy eminating off tge white haired man, however it was well concealed and by no accoumts was sensed easily. There was much more to him then met the eye. He felt like his actions were being returned at him, as if he were analyizing him as well, he was much smarter then he looked that was a fact. "I admit that i'm a mage, and yes it would be faster, i'm just not exactly the best mage in my department. Thats why i'm searching for freedom" Tge mage stopped though not wanting to give away that he was hunting tge Fire dragon Igneel, although considering that this man seemed so smart it would most likely take a few seconds for him to piece it together. That book he wascarrying though it definately was magic, he could feel it, contained in the confines of the Grimore in his hand.“Oh~ you are a mage on a mission, that much mean that you are part of one of the guilds! I’ve always wanted to talk to a guilded mage. Maybe you can tell me a bit about yourself, I am The Librarian and no sorry I am not really a mage, unless a pair of wind reader glasses makes me one” Mako listened to the man talk, there was an air about him still which conflicted with his story. He had that book and the faint trace of magic, he was intresting, anyone with a name like The Librarian would be in his opinion, "You are sure? That book is oozing with magic and i can feel some faint traces on you, that could be from another mage whos magic brushed off on you though" Mako asked him folding his arms waiting for his reply. |

The Librarian simply looked at the kid with a smile, he was an overly suspicious one but he didn’t have enough evidence of anything, The Librarian could easily flip the tables on his suspicion. “Are you always this suspicious of strangers? Yes I have magical items on me, this is Fiore, the country that has the highest density of mages and magic items, what do you expect?” The Librarian then reached into his pocket and pulled out a small worn bible, it was a rather potent protective item, one The Librarian carried at all times. “This is a magical item, a trinket of protection, this book in my hand however it just a standard novel, the other magical book I have is on my side…” The Librarian said pointing to the book that was hanging off his side. “Not to mention I collect lots of little nick knacks that don’t serve much purpose…” The Librarian said before pulling out a small hip flask and chucked it to Mako, if he caught it he would find that the hip flash was cold to touch and constantly stayed that way. “But to answer your question again as obviously I don’t know what I am, I am not a mage, I simply have some items in my collection like any wealthy citizen of fiore. So now that is out of the way; feel like sharing who you are or is there more inquisitioning to be done?” The Librarian said ending his voice on a slightly disapproving tone. “So your freedom? That will be found by stabbing these ants? Also I might suggest using your feet, ants are generally small then people’s feet…” The Librarian said as he then lifted up a foot descended it upon the helpless ants below, it could be considered a massacre, if people actually cared about ants, which no one did… |

Mako listened as the Librarian explained himself, it was true that he may have been ovelry suspicious of him. It was trait that he often found himself facing, although it wasn't one that he hated on the contrary it was quite useful sometimes. One time his brother had almost tricked him into marrying a princess! Although at the time being young and immature meant that those for of things weren't in his best interest, as he looked back on it he thought it might have worked better. But that was besides the point, and now as The Librarian finished his talking it was Mako's turn to reply to his inquries. "Ahh, a collector of books now? Where i come from the libraries are said to reach the heavens, but i don't fins myself there often, however i do enjoy the good thriller novel once and a while" Mako said. The library on Neopola was enormous, although it lacked in Fiorian writers as the people burned the Fiorian novelists books. None the less the building itself was quite impressive. "And NO, i don't plan to be stomping on ants of rthe rest of my life, this is just a little detour so i can pick up some Jewels before i continue my journey" Mako said to The Librarian. Although he had to admit that he was wasting some time talking to him, as interesting as it was to talk to him and find out more about him he did have a job to do and it was only a matter of time before a second wave hit the park full force and he would be condemned with a big fat mission failure. So it was time to start thinking on where this anthill might be, "You may not happen to know a sensible place the ant hill of these creatures could be? I am no expert in biology or insects. Perhaps by chance you would have more knowledge then me on this?" There were numerous spots where the hill might be and at this rate of how big the park is it could take all day to find out unless it was in plain sight. And the mage was pretty sure that he had not seen any ant hill as he was walking in to the park. Then again he was distracted by the first wave of ants which had apparently originated from in the group of trees north west of their location. |

The Librarian would look at the boy as he asked him a question about where the location of the ants could be found. It was a rather simple question in essence, ants always went back to their nest after gathering food, ants ate very little relative to the food they brought back to the nest. It was all to keep moving the giant war machine that an ant colony was. “Have you tried following the ants instead of stomping on them? Generally speaking ants go back home after they get food… Which makes a lot of sense when you think about it, same as I go home once I finish my day of work, and presumably a baker goes home once he has sold his bread?” The Librarian said finishing on a quite obvious question for the boy to answer. While he was admitted to be no expert in biology the solution to his problem did not require a member of academia or any sort of intensive knowledge, just simple logic and common sense. The Librarian made sure to keep his tone of voice friendly and only slightly sarcastic, he did not want to drive the hot headed boy away but at the same time he couldn’t resist the occasional little digs at him, to The Librarian people in the midst of stupidity were close to funny. The Librarian would then point to a trail of ants call carrying bits of food heading north into the forest. It was likely that the nest would be found in that direction, it’s quite simple to work things out once you consider the nature of the beast you were tracking. “Now I don’t believe I have gotten your name or title even at least, would you care to share?” The Librarian asked the boy again. |

The Librarian was certainly a, different man. He seemed innocent and yet he was smart enough to use a sarcastic tone in his voice. Of course this could always just be a custom here and Mako was merely unacquainted with it. Fiore was a place that got stranger and in some cases darker as the days went on by. His idea for following the ants was a rather sensible one, it was one that the mage could have figured out himself but for the sake of making conversation it seemed senseible to ask him in an effort to try and make conversation. "Very true, there should be ants nearby and the picnickers have all but fled. As for my name it is Mako, now then i must continue my mission if i am to get anything done on this day instead of talking, not to be rude though, you are an interesting person; i just have to do my job" he said making a gesture to the ants which were slumping back to the anthill in defeat from the stomping they had received from the fire mage. He turned form The Librarian and watched as the sun began to set over the tops of the houses nearby. It was true that Southgate Park while having a small forest near the center was surrounded by buildings as it was in the southern proton of Magnolia. Mako groaned knowing that he would have to look in the dark for little black specs on the ground which was much harder then it sounded, and it was still pretty hard as it is. Perhaps his new acquaintance could help him, even if he wasn't a mage it would be helpful to have someone hold a torch while he dealt with the anthill that was the source of all this trouble. Although he wasn't a mage he did seen rather fine and not that evil looking, however he did have that sarcastic tone which seemed as a cover up for a darker tone. "You don't by chance have any time on you, i could use an extra pair of hands to light the way while i get this thing over with" the mage said the the white haired man. It would be okay if he said no obviously, he had his magic for light but it would be a helpful accompaniment none the less. |

The Librarian would look at the boy that asked him to help with the ant hunt, hunting ants was not normally in The Librarians repertoire of things he would be but it would be a good time to practice up on his entomology as he hadn’t studied the field much. He thought it over for a few seconds, acting as if it was a tough decision for him to make, so as the boy would agree to his request, he didn’t want to appear to anxious so he would maintain power in the potential negotiations that would follow. “Sure, I will help you however I want half your pay if I prove to be a help to you, of course if I am useless I don’t expect anything as I am not really a mage but you know work is work right?” The Librarian said ending his demand and statement with a shrug making him appear very casual about the whole thing. If the young mage agreed The Librarian would follow the boy into the forest where there was a very clear trail of ants, and there didn’t seem to be an end in sight nearby. |

Mako thought over his offer, part of him was going HELL NO! While the other was saying that the man in front of him was more mysterious then he thought and that it would be unwise to cross him. Mako sighed seeing as he was not going to get anything out of this guy whatsoever, "Deal, 50/50 eh? Well might as well start, the easiest thing we could do is drag a hose to the ant hill which by the looks of where some of these ants are crawling is somewhere in....that direction" The mage said looking over the grass a some trees that were grouped together near a large rock. Mako knew however that there would be no hose in the history of man that could possibly stretch that far. Therefore they would have to resort to other means of flooding the anthill as they certainly couldn't just burn it, plus some anthills can go for miles under the ground. It was a predicament unless there was a water mage nearby. Mako thought all this over before walking forward to the clump of trees that the straggling ants were heading towards. Yep there was an anthill alright.....A really f'ing big one. |

OOC: I have many major assignments and final tests for uni coming up, it may take me some time to catch up properly. The Librarian simply nodded as the boy accepted his offer of help, it was going to be a fun ride it seemed as The Librarian always enjoyed playing around with people on occasion. He would pull out a book to hold in his hand as they walked, he didn’t want to give away he was a mage so if something needed to be done he would prefer to just use his books. “A hose might be one solution yes, however the logistics of that probably makes that a very poor idea. How far away are we from hose now? Then how far away is the nest, it could be kilometres into the forest potentially, we are probably best off heading towards the nest and assessing the situation once we arrive.” The Librarian said as he delivered his critique on the young mages plan to use a hose. He also thought about how often ants deal with rain and some of them at least seem to be ok. |

Mako listened chuckling slightly at the librarian who seemed rather serioys about all of this. They would need a very long rope indeed although there were other methods for killing a coloney of ants isnt there? Mako shrugged as he let his mind wander about how they could sonehow try and destroy the anthill that was causing all their problems. There was always the chance that it could rain and that the water would simply wash all of the ants away although the nest would provide good foryifications gor the little demons. No it would ve best to simply just find the nest like the linrarian suggested. Mako nodded, Southgate park, well; it was a park, not a forest. Besides the ants were all presumabely returning to their hill nearby so it seemed logical to follow their general direction and find out where the hill might be. Mako frowned, he was going to enjoy taking care of all those dumv ants who were a real nuisance to the mage. He sighed before nodding at the librarian and walking towards the small clump of trees nearby where the ants seemed to be heading. "Well we found the hill, easier then i thought" Mako said. Tge hill was a bit high and was un the shadow of a boulder. The group of trees formed a wall making ot slightly difficult to get in the pocket but not impossible. "Maybe we should just shove the boulder on top of it? Although they could have otherexits, what do you think?" Mako asked the librarian while he pindered his option. |
