Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Yes thats right.

Feminist Psychologists are trying to prove that being a gentlemen, eg: opening doors for a woman, is sexist.

So I ask you FTG, do you think its sexist or are you like SAY WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?

Steel your mind. Run on instinct.
Well personally i dont find the insult in having doors opened etc but i can see where they are coming from. They probably think that it's going back to the times when it happened all the time, when women were treated as being lesser or different. And they don't like it....but like i said i really dont know what they are huffing.

Yes it is, that's why I'm not a Gentleman... JK

You have to replace the man in gentleman with person then it becomes okay like businessperson.

Who you calling chocobo head...

To me it is very dependent on the attitude and intention behind the gestures. If it's to be nice or polite, of course it's fine and not sexist, though, saying that, I open doors, offer chairs etc. for anybody regardless of gender so *shrugs*.

Whereas, if you're doing gentlemanly acts because you think the woman is unable to do the actions...then you're being a sexist pig. I’m pretty sure though, or would hope, that everyone knows woman are just as capable of opening doors, sitting down, paying for meals etc. as everyone else, so in most cases, not sexist.

Stay the course.

People opening doors for each other? What kind of sick, twisted world do we live in?

I get the idea... But that's something we call 'Positive Discrimination'. Yes, it's sexist, but in a good way. I think only the uber-extreme feminists will mind this.

I... Well, I'm not really a gentleman, but I at least try to hold up some of those ideals in this country full of antisocials. (Seriously, don't expect anyone to open doors or offer chairs to you in the Netherlands.)

I wouldn't open a door for a woman because I don't think they 'cannot do it', but because I think it's just basic decency... Saying being a gentleman, or at least sharing some of their ideals, is sexist... Well, that's just taking it much too far in my opinion.

I agree with Mazo however it is more of a social and cultural thing that men open doors for women and pay for meals and all that stuff.

I have to disagree with Tim... but I really don't think it matters enough to say

I agree completely with Enma so I don't have a comment

(still pondering on how to make this debate exciting)

gentleman from oxford:
"a man who is polite and well educated, who has excellent manners and always behaves well"

so no a gentleman is not sexist, if a gentleman jugdes by gender he is no such thing. Done and done.

And im going by a modern gentleman not our 18-19 hundreds gentlemen xD

Next we will hear someone shouting that giving your seat in a packed bus to an elderly person is discriminating against old people.

All that needs saying was already said, so I'll just agree with the above posters and add that those feminists need psychological aid.
