Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

I've been contemplating this for a while now and before I put down my opinion I want to know what everyone else thinks, namely:

Have we degenerated from 'politically correct' to 'this is ri-goddamn-diculous' or should we go further?

im going to vote yes as in political correctness is going a bit overboard, we are maybe forgetting the meaning of it and ending up limiting ourselves to the point its just plain stupid.

Now dont get me wrong PC is still ok in most areas, racism, sexism and so forth all have the PC but its sometimes being misused and gone overboard. And it makes people dismiss others -rational- reasons to not being as PC :)

p.s good topic tbh :D

Thanks :)

And I whole-heartedly agree, people these days care too much about being 'correct' rather than actually being understandable and as a result a lot of what is said becomes non-sensical and just complete garbage.

Stay the course.

As long as you don't get punched in the nose it's all fine and dandy.

Truth, we're going overboard. The Netherlands forced a lot of companies to change the name of a traditional dutch treat because it was called "negerzoen". That means "nigger's kiss", roughly translated. What's so bad about one of the most famous and delicious treats in a country being named after your ethnical group? You don't hear me bitching about crackers, do you?

Political Correctness has become a conditioning mechanism no more sophisticated or morally righteous than the training of a Pavlovian dog. "Hot button" phrases like Homosexual, Black, etc etc are being censored regardless of context for fear that something 'racy' and scandalous has been said.

Why is black relegated to an inappropriate word, where as 'white' is a racial category we make use of without a thought? What purpose does our civil rights bill, our marches for equality, our so called understanding serve if 'homosexual' is still perceived as a 'dirty word' ?

---

While I'm fully aware that I can get contextually graphic far beyond the limitations of a pg disclaimer, PC usage of the word homosexual has gotten me snapped at by some of the mods here, even. Just so you understand the relevance.
