Benjamin Fergison had heard of the Cinnabar Range and its beauty. He had heard of the view at night was akin to watching the night sky bleed upon the earth from the glow of the rocks of the valley. He had also heard of the various dangers of the range, and thought it would make an excellent place to test his skills against opponents. Plus if he was lucky, he could save someone from the bandits and be a hero, the kind of hero that was taken seriously around Fiore. Though really he would have to make one hell of a save for that. Ben checked to make sure he had all his supplies for a hike into the dangerous parts of the range, his camping supplies, rope, water, flares, and food. Then when he was sure he had everything he would need for a few nights out in the range he checked the device on his wrist, making sure his magic levels were good enough for an emergency transformation should he need it. He found that his levels were fine and so he started his trek into the range, knowing it would take a few hours before he got to any place dangerous. Still it looked to be a beautiful day, and nothing would stop him from enjoying it thuroughly. |

Garren scuffed his feet slightly on the ground as he walked, the terrian changing from patchy bits of grass to hardened rock and reddish-soil from the quartz deposits. Looks like I made it to the entrance, he thought, his hands in his pockets and gear tucked into more pockets on the inside of the rather flashy jacket he always wore. He hadn't brought rope or anything like that, but his magic was versatile - he could get his way out of many a jam with magic alone, in a pinch. He began moving down the path, spotting another traveler just down the trail from him. Must have just gotten here too, he thought. "Hey there, you here for a hike through the range as well?" he asked, loud enough for the stranger to hear him. |

Ben turned around when he heard the voice calling out to him from back where he started. He had barely travelled any distance at all and he had already run into someone. He waved at the traveller, "Why yes I am. But let me assure you, I do not just hike, I decimate trails like this. I intend to go farther than anyone dares to go and come back alive to tell the tale. With any luck I will be able to find some bandits along the way and put them out of everyone elses misery. Do the world a favor, you know what I mean?" He responded, loud enough for the stranger to hear him. He smiled, his scruffy beard well managed, and his short brown hair waving slightly in a lovely breeze that came through the valley. "I take it you are here for a hike as well? I hope you came prepared. My grandfather always said to be prepared for as much as you can, cause life loves to throw curve balls at ya. Plus this place is dry as a bone, if you don't got water you won't be finding it any where in here." He added with a smile as he adjusted his back pack and waited for the man to come closer so he wouldn't have to shout. Besides the camping gear, Ben was wearing his usual tight shirt, family crest located dead center of his chest, a pair of well worn pants, and a pair of hiking boots. He was truly prepared for everything and anything this place might throw at him... |

Garren smiled at the stranger's enthusiasm for the trail blazing he was about to embark on. "Ridding the world of a few bandits - a noble goal - and a rather fun one, if I do say so myself," Garren said with a laugh, his head tilting back slightly as he walked closer to the stranger so that they wouldn't have to shout to make themselves heard. "As for preparedness..." he held the sides of his jacket open to reveal pockets with various flasks of water and traveling food, food like rolls and the like that would last awhile and were rather hardy. "Just food and water might seem like little, but my magic can help with the rest, of that I'm sure." he said with a smile. Edited by Balmung6, Apr 13 2011, 05:42 AM.

Ben chuckled as the man approached, stretching his arms out a bit as his wrist device beeped to inform him of the increase in magical energy in the area. This of course could be explained by the fact that the man that approached him was a mage, which meant he had been telling the truth about using magic at least. "Well it is good to find someone that agrees with my line of thinking regarding bandits. Would you care to travel with me a bit? One is a lonely number after all and we are heading in the same direction. I could use a bit of company so I don't end up talking to myself." Ben said with a smile as he bowed slightly before extending a hand in friendship to the new man. It was quite a trip Ben had planned and a little company would do him some good, spend some time with the kind of people he tried to save and impress. "So how about it? Up for a little company on this little hike?" Ben asked again, his sense of adventure itching to get started... |

Garren chuckled as the man offered to travel together with him. "I suppose it would be nice to have some company - as you said, it beats trying to talk to the rocks." He extended his hand out and shook the stranger's hand firmly. "The name's Garren, Garren Tensig - what might your name be, stranger?" he asked with a smile. As he introduced himself, he saw out of the corner of his eye a towering spire far off in the distance down the cinnabar range - that must be the Spire of Gedatsu, he thought to himself - they say it's three miles high and that you can see for one hundred leagues in any direction if you can actually find the time and energy to scale all the way to the top of the spire. |

Ben smiled as he shook Garren's hand firmly, "My name is Benjamin Fergison, but please call me Ben, everyone does. It is a pleasure to meet you Garren. Let us start off on our Journey shall we?" Ben said as he turned around and started down the trail again. He spotted the spire and swore that one day in the future he would climb that spire and get a damn good look at the surrounding area, perhaps one day when his body was stronger and he had the endurance to climb that high he could do it, but he knew his limits enough to know that he in no way was ready for a three mile climb up stone stairs. No he would not be climbing that spire today, but he swore on his life that one day he would do it. As they walked time passed, and Ben's curiosity got the better of him, "So what brings you to the Cinnabar Range today? I mean hiking obviously, but why today of all times? I have been planning this trip for weeks, training for the rigorous journey all the while, I am doing this to test myself. Why are you here though?" Ben asked simply trying to make conversation. They had lot's of time to kill before they got to the dangerous areas of the Range, where Ben had to be careful and wary for bandits. He cheked his wrist device to check on his heart rate, making sure he wasn't over exerting himself, he needed to pace himself for the journey ahead.... |

Garren skipped a small stone on the path with his foot, watching as it spun to the side and bounced of the side of the path before spinning to a stop. "Why am I here?" asked Garren. "Simple - to train myself, both with this hike and anything I might encounter during the travel down the range." As they walked, he asked, "So how about you? Did you hear about a certain den of bandits nearby or are you planning to hike around until you find a group of thugs?" he said with a smile. He wanted to know a little bit about his traveling companion if they were going to be exploring along the distance of the Cinnabar range together. Edited by Balmung6, Apr 13 2011, 06:16 AM.

"Well I don't really have any particular target. To be honest I just heard about how when you go deep enough into the range you are bound to run into a gang of bandits that will want to kill and/or rob you. The deeper parts of the range really are quite dangerous, and I wouldn't be challenging myself properly if I didn't go as deep into the range as I could and fight against these bastards. Plus I have this itch for battle that just needs to be scratched you know? It is hard finding opponents that can challenge me, these days." Ben explained as he walked on, he really did sound arrogant in his self assurance. It was as if he was convinced that he was invincible in combat, that no one could defeat him once they challenged him. "Does that make sense to you? A lot of people tell me I am crazy for doing this." Ben asked with a raised eyebrow, kicking a stone which ricocheted off the wall of the valley and spun around quickly like a top in the middle of the road. Ben quickly ran up while it was still spinning and punted it hard, sending it flying into the distance. He held his hand over his eyes and followed its descent before turning back to Garren with a smile... |

Garren laughed as Ben explained his reasoning for going bandit hunting in the Cinnabar Range. "Just find a likely spot and hunt for baddies, is that right? Sounds fair enough to me," said Garren with a chuckle, "I like to whoop baddies a new one too, I like to feel my own strength as I defeat those worth fighting - though there is something to be said about tearing through a weak group of thugs who thought you might be an easy mark," he said with a chuckle. Garren leaned over as he walked, snatching up a small pebble from the path as he flung it in the air, catching it, then flinging it into the air once again to catch it yet again before slinging it forward, just as Ben had done, but gesturing his head back towards himself as he said "Vector Plate" and a black arrow appeared on the ground in the path of the flying rock. When the rock flew over the plate, it stopped cold, then shot back in the direction the arrow was pointing - in this case, back at Garren, who caught the stone in one hand as it returned to the sender. |
