Fairy Tail Guild RP Current News

Hey everyone, it's me, your Lord and Savior, your Once and Future King, and your new Admin-for-Life Unlimit Sendo. I'm here to drop some turnbuckle-diving elbows and awesome news. There's been some relatively small updates to rulings regarding summon familiars and single summons. Additionally, there's also been a pretty big update in regards to the AP shop which reorganizes it and adds a ton of new stuff. You can find that in the AP Shop section under Item Creation. Check it out.

Katherine had barely felt Ben's punch, and as for his kick... was he even trying to hit her? She slowly left her defensive stance as she took his hand pulling him to his feet. This was going to be more of a challenge than she thought. She'd need to come up with a way to strengethen the boy both physically and mentally. He lacked skill and confidence, that much was obvious.

"Yeah, that was pretty bad. I seen girls fight better than that. But don't worry, I'll have you kicking ass and taking names in no time!" She gave him a wink and a reassuring smile.

Now, how should she get him more into the concept of fighting? Should she demonstrate what to do? Should she attack him and show him how to block, dodge or reverse? Actually, as timid as he acted she didn't want to scare me off and cause him to quit the lesson. That'd result in a Mission Failure... she had to do this right.

"All right, let's begin with the basics. First you need a good battle/defense stance."

She then proceeded to poisition herself into the stance Soul had put her into during the short time he was training her. As much as she disliked Soul now, she had to admit his training helped her a lot. And hopefully it'd help Ben a lot too.

Since this stance was to be used barehanded, she had to modify it ever so slightly. She stood to the side of the boy in order to let him see her exact posture as she bent her knees ever so slightly. She placed her left leg a couple steps forward so as to brace her own body for impact, but not be so far spread she'd lose balance and be easy to knock down.

Her right arm, which would normally hold a Shield, was positioned upward to block any blows to the face, while her other hand was slightly lower to block any low blows. Both hands were balled into fists and prepared to strike the on coming opponent with quick punches.

"See how I'm standing? You try it." She kept her position so he could use it as a diagram for his own stance.

Ben looked at Katherine, studying her form and stance as he tried to imitate it. He did everything she did and soon he was standing the way she was, though compared to her his stance seemed amateurish and untrained. "Like this Miss Katherine?" He asked as he wobbled a bit, not used to keeping his body tense like this.

Katherine walked over to Ben to observe his stance, tilting her head at his form. He was wobbly and a bit too tense. It wouldn't be hard to knock him down in a pose like that. Moving closer to the boy she placed her leg between his knees spreading then out a little further, but not too much so. She then backed up a bit to look him over.

"Try to relax. If you're too tense you'll be easy to knock over and have trouble reacting to punches."

Once he managed to relax and stand without wobbling, she pushed him a bit to test the stance out. He slid backward an inch or two, but he didn't fall over, which was a good sign. She then stepped back a few paces nodding her approval of his stance. Now it was time to get a little rougher with him. She was going to teach him how to fight.

"Alright, now, remembering your stance I want you to come at me and attempt to punch me. Pretend I'm the bully and give me your best shot. I'll remain on the defensive to show you how defending works."

She stood a few paces away from him, stepping into the same stance as him as she awaited his attack. She didn't want to accidently hurt the kid, so she'd have to go about this carefully but yet strict enough to get the point across. After all, that bully won't be going easy on him.

The boy tried to relax a bit as Katherine said, loosening up a bit when she said his stance was good. However when she asked him to attack her, he swallowed and said, "Ok Miss Katherine. I will try my best." when that was said and done the boy launched his body foward, putting his full weight behind a punch that Kitty could easily see coming a mile away. He telegraphed everything he did which in a fight could get his ass kicked quite thuroughly...

Katherine didn't even need a defense stance as Ben's attempt to punch her was way too slow and easy to anticipate a mile away. Stepping out of her stance she simply observed the boy and his style, watching his every move and hesitation before he finally ran at her, and as he drew near he pulled back his fist and aimed a punch toward the slightly older girl, who didn't seem the slightest bit worried.

As soon as the boy was in range of the young Mage she had already stepped to the side, causing Ben to miss completely as she now stood off to the side of him, her head shaking slowly from side to side in dismay. He'll never defeat the bully if he fights like that. She didn't expect him to become as strong as her, after all she was a Mage and he was a normal little boy.

But he needed to at least be able to handle a simple, non-magical, bully. Which he'd never be able to do if he continued to fight like that. Thankfully, Kitty was stubborn and once her mind was set to something she'd stick to it. She was going to make a warrior out of this kid even if it took all night.

"You hesitated too much, Ben. I could see that punch coming a mile away. Heck, I could dodge you with my eyes closed. Now try again, but this time don't hesitate and don't think so much about your attack!" Her voice sounded more stern this time, for combat was the one thing Katherine Keller took seriously.

As she awaited his next attack, she stood calmly to the side of him, much like Shinji had done during his sparr with her weeks earlier. Without even realizing it she was acting very similiar to the Exquip she now hated, and as she stood there she hooked her thumbs into her pockets, her eyes focusing on her trainee.

Ben nodded and went back into the stance that Katherine had taught him. He clenched his fist and readied himself for another attempt to show her what he could do. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, only opening his eyes when he was mentally prepared to do what was asked of him. When he opened his eyes he looked focused, determined, and threw another punch right at Katherine, this one not so easily telegraphed as before.

Katherine only smiled as he prepared himself for his second attack, this one a bit more focused and a lot less telegraphed as he allowed himself a deep calmly breath in order to relax and focus himself that much easier. It was a good start, of course she didn't expect him to be able to match her; not over night, anyway. But as long as he could show enough promise to defeat a bully, then she can say she did her job. After all, Ben was younger than her and was not a Mage like herself, nor did he have proper training for combat... well, until now. Katherine had promised that she would not teach him to fight like a girl, and so far she's stayed true to her word. She's show both this kid and the brat that bullies him that girls are not necessarily sissies. Let that jerk laugh when he discovered who trained Ben; the smug smirk will be quickly erased once her trainee gets through with him.

As the blow was delivered Kitty skipped backward a couple steps gracefully dodging the attack, her thumbs remaining hooked in her pockets and her expression calm and composed. Even as he missed, she still seemed somewhat pleased with him. He was finally getting into it and trying harder to show off what he's made of. That was good, he just needed a bit more practice. "Very good. You almost hit me that time! Let's say we give punching a rest for the time being and try a bit of leg work, huh?" As she spoke, she stepped into her battle stance once more so as to demonstrate the proper way to kick one's opponent. She delivered a swift kick into the air, after which she delivered a spinning roundhouse kick, soon followed by a sweep as she ducked, sliding her leg along the ground. "If you execute the moves properly and with the correct timing you can totally catch your opponent off guard!"

A purple circle of magic engulfed her left arm soon followed by a bright light in the shape of a Shield, and as the object materialized the light exploded into fragments revealing a good sized, light weight shield attatched to her arm. "Now, kick me! Or rather, kick my Shield. And don't hold back! I want to feel the impact!" Her voice was raised, almost as if she were yelling at the boy like a drill instructer. But she wasn't intending to come off as bossy or mean. Her raised voice was only to psych up the boy and give him enough encouragement to put everything he had behind each attack.

The boy let out a frustrated whine when his punch was so easily dodged by Katherine, he had thought that his last attempt was really good. Her compliments didn't exactly encourage him, but they made him feel better about himself at least. He watched her carefully as she demonstrated how to deliver a kick, then when she re-quipped her shield his eyes went wide with excitement. "Wow! That was so cool! Are you gonna teach me how to do that?!" He exclaimed excitedly, wondering whether he would be able to learn such a cool trick. Then when she told him to try and kick her shield he sighed and readied himself just like he was taught. He relaxed his body then did the best kick he could do, though he couldnt lift his leg nearly as high as Katherine did. He barely hit the surface of her shield with the bottom of his shoe, then went off balance and fell on his ass again.

"Ow..." He said and sighed, "Guess I need more practice..."

Ben seemed impressed by Katherine's Magic and the young girl could only laugh when she heard him say, "Wow! That was so cool! Are you gonna teach me how to do that?!" Reaching over with one hand she ruffled the young boy's hair giving him a cheeky grin. "Well, I don't know about that. I'm not skilled in teaching others how to use Magic. But, hey, if you like Magic so much maybe you can find a strong Mage to teach you a bit, huh?" She then winked at the boy and stepped back into her position as she awaited his next attack. Her eyes never left him as she peered at him from over her Shield, observing as he took the stance she had taught him. So far so good, he was relaxing himself, that was a good sign. The question remained, however, would he be able to execute a proper kick?

Her answer soon came as he launched a failed attempt at a... what kind of kick was he attempting, anyway? Roundhouse? Heel Drop? Or was he just freestyling it? Either way, she barely felt the shock of the blow. In fact, Kitty didn't feel anything at all as she heard the sound of his foot bounce off the edge of her Shield. "Ow..." He had said after losing balance and toppling over, "Guess I need more practice..." As she watched Ben fall to the ground yet again since their training session had begun she only shook her head as she left her battle stance, offering him her right hand. "I'm here to help you fight. I seen girls kick better than that." She remarked as she pulled him to his feet. She wasn't trying to be mean, she was just trying to be a good teacher. She knew from personal experiance how rough real training could be, and she wanted him to put his all behind his moves so she could go home knowing she didn't fail.

"If you get your ass kicked by that bully, it'll make me look bad." She winked as she gave him yet another cheeky grin. "Now c'mon, let's try that again. This time put some spirit behind it! I want to feel the impact! Knock me down, boy!" She was already in her defensive stance yet again, her legs braced for any sudden impact, her Shield in front of her as a stationary target for Ben to aim for. Katherine was a stubborn young lady and she wasn't going to give up until she made a warrior out of this boy. She hated bullies, and she wasn't about to let Ben go on being harrassed and beaten up. Not on her watch.

"I'm here to help you fight. I seen girls kick better than that." Katherine remarked as she pulled him to his feet. Ben was happy for the assist to get back on his feet. However her comment made him feel bad, almost angry, and he muttered, "I am doing my best..."

She was already in her defensive stance yet again, her legs braced for any sudden impact, her Shield in front of her as a stationary target for Ben to aim for.

He sighed and backed away from her, not because he was giving up. No, you see he wanted to get a running start. Ben ran right up to Katherine, jumping when he was a few feet away. He twisted his body in mid air and delivered a powerful kick to her shield, landing on all fours as he quickly rebounded and launched a second kick from below. The boy was a quick study it seemed, and inventive in his own way...
