Well, this is a hot topic, and I'm sure most of you have already given your opinion, but I'm curious of what you will answer. If you can, please reply why did you choose one character over the other. For my part: I choose Lelouch vi Britannia for several reasons. If we compare both characters based on their cleverness & intellect, I'd say they are pretty equal. Even with the powers they have obtained, they are still pretty equal, because of the restrictions: Lelouch's Geass demands eye contact for commands to be issued for a maximum effective distance is 272 meters, and Light's Death Note demands that he knows the full name of hi victim before he can kill him/her. For me it's more a question of morality. Both seek the same thing: a better world, a world with no crimes, no fighting and no war, a gentler place, and both of them have the opportunity to do so thanks to a power someone gives them (Geass & the Death Note). However, unlike Light Yagami, Lelouch has true feelings. This is mostly apparent in R2, when he goes upon his plan to conquer the world, a path Light Yagami also uses. But this where their path diverge from each other. Light Yagami used his power in secrecy, in hopes of becoming a god of death and bringing forced peace in the world, creating a non-moving world. Just like Lelouch said : "You now want a world without change. How stagnant, you could hardly call it life." Lelouch, on the other, decided to become the most hated person on the planet, using deliberately his power to conquer the world. However, his plan was to make his best friend kill him, so that the sins of the past could be erased by his greater sins, and that the world could get rid of the element of "nuisance" Light Yagami wanted to force his ideals unto the world, just like what Lelouch said: "But forcing your good intentions on others is no different from an evil act". While Lelouch seemingly wants to rule the world, he did all his evil deeds for one reason: his sister, who wanted to live in a gentler world. Not only that, his actions DID succeed in changing the world for the best. That's my opinion in the least. |

i cant decide cause their both differenct characters in the end Light tried good but ended on going down the road of self-destruction, the means changed his ends and made him into a killer in the end. I loved his ideals early on but as he slowly progressed as a character his cruelty and evil intentions became clear. He was incredibly good at hiding it, but wasn't good at manipulating people, and as such ended up being a hated monster. Lelouch is a man who walked the path of darkness as well, but he came back and he was strong at manipulating, politics and such and could therefore make people belive that he wanted them to. By making himself the goal in the end and in the end he made the goal more or less justify the means. Both are great examples of incredible well written characters, each ending on a similar road but each ending at a different spot. One turning into a true martyrish hero and another falling into the dark abyss and becoming the monster he wanted to fight. "you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself turn into that which your fighting" Edited by Drame, May 16 2011, 06:21 PM.

OK first off don't think I made a bias opinion because I used Lelouch as my character's pic. Plus I just re-watched Death Note and there is no doubt that it is a masterpiece even the second time around. I'm planing on re-watching Code Geass too. It is obvious who the better one is the one who wanted justice... Note the murder. But seriously if its about brains then I would say they are evenly matched, but if they met each other Light would probably beet him. Then again I'm probably only thinking that because I just experienced his genius, although if it wasn't for Rem L would've caught him, and in the end the difference between them is Lelouch won in the end and sacrificed him self for the people. While Light lost and is just a bloody thirsty childish murderer. |

Neither, they are both wimps that use psychological games to best their enemies. Real men use fists :P |

First, Light DIES, but I would still go with Light cuz he just killed L. Also his stats are this: Knowledge 9/10 Conceptualization Power 10/10 Will to act 8/10 Motivation 10/10 Social Skills 10/10 I dont know anything about the other freak. But Light uses a Death Note so he would own Lelouch vi Britannia IF he know his name. Light would only win as long he's 272 meters away and not make eye contract with Lelouch. In Death Note: How to Read 13, Ohba (the author of Death Note) said that Light was "a young man who could understand the pain of others" when he first encountered the Death Note. But didn't you forget Tomu Shirasagi? He also use psychological games and he's a gambler. But thats a different story. |

I've watched both series multiple times trying to change my previous decisions on who is better. I'm a huge Code Geass fan simply because of Lelouch (and other elements in the show involved of course but most because of Lelouch) this is simply because of how smart he is. Most people would say that without his Geass Lelouch would be useless, that be be the case but the same applies for Light without his Death Note, who would be equally if not even more useless than Lelouch. Lelouch stated that even without receiving his powers he still would have waged war against Brittania and changed the world although it would have taken considerably longer than it did in the show he still had that intention. Light on the other would have been your average nobody if he never stumbled upon his Death Note with no intention of changing the world. Whilst both are incredibly smart and have used the tools they had at their disposal quite well, the simple fact still remains that Lelouch succeeded in what he had attempted to whilst Light failed. Zero Requiem FTW! |

I choose Light. Mostly beacuse I to a certain degree agree with him. Lelouch is however a very close 2. |
