The differences between Clarisse McClellan and Mildred 'Millie' Montag. Mildred, I would say, exists to be the total opposite of Clarisse, and the diametrical contradiction between both of their characters clearly highlights Clarisse's most pure form of innocence and extablishes Mildred's extremely hedonistic lifestyle, characterised by her excessive and extreme watching of television, listening to the seashell radios and not moving or talking as if comatose. Basically, Mildred Montag is the antithesis of Clarisse McClellan, and the two are totally different from each other. This is a very important point of information because the story is strongly influenced by what Clarisse does, her actions setting off a chain reaction which saves Montag, and surely many others.
