General Information Name: Vale Lanford Lionward Nickname (Optional): Emperor Vale Age: 27 Gender: Male Race/Species: Human Alignment: Evil (Corrupt) Home Nation: Archades Current Nation: Archades Character Specifics Picture (Optional): ![]() Appearance: Vale has long black hair, which he either keeps tied back, which is often in times when he's preparing for battle. At peace times, he keeps his hair flowing down his back. He has brown eyes, bordering on the verge of being yellow, the brown being so light. In his left ear he wears an earring with a crimson ball and a sharp point emerging out from the ball. In peacetime, he wears robes with extremely baggy sleeves, similar to that of an emperor in oriental regions. On the left arm of his robes, there is a crest of a cross, similar to that of Black Arts (See Weapons). His robes reach down to his feet, being sealed at the waist. On the lower half of the body, the robe splits much like a an oriental Emperor's robes again. Under the lower half of the robes, Vale wears trousers with black boots. The robe and trouser themselves are also black. The black of his robes have white decorative flowers and various other patterns as well as the ends of the sleeve possessing the same patterns. His battle wear, although similar however not exact. When prepared for battle, he wears gauntlets patterned with crimson marks. This is the only difference between his peacetime and wartime wear. Vale keeps his Black Arts (Refer to Weapons) quite often around his neck by the chain the cross bears. This is often hidden under his robes however. His Lionward (Refer to Weapons) his kept concealed within the robes, although Vale can easily bring it out swiftly when necessary. His Murasame's (Refer to Weapons) sheath is tied round his waist, the sheath itself being to the left of Vale's body. This can be concealed within his robes if he wishes to do so. Just under the Sheath of the Murasame is a good luck charm, bearing a strange symbol with five balls below, each with weathers emerging from them. The balls are similar to that which have been used in his earring. Personality: Vale, influenced by his father, is a strong believer in military success. His father had taught him the ideals of the Francis Era, although Vale did adopt most, he did change aspects of it to suit his taste. Unlike his father, Vale believed in conquering rather than defending. Politically, Vale has a strong influence over Archades and unlike many other politicians, he can lead the people to agree with him, no matter what the situation. Vale has a heavy dislike towards other races, such as Elves, although none as strong as the hate he has for Half-Elves. Already, in his 2 year period reign, he has had all Half-Elves brought into slave camps and forced to work till death otherwise executed. Vale is the type whom must have absolute power and will crush any uprisings or rebellions, as shown with the Ogir Yensa, where he had almost the entire rebel force captured and executed. He also prefers to do the meaningful fights him, such as the capture of Nam Yensa, where Vale personally challenged Ashton and killed her without the help of his military force. Besides from all this, Vale is sadistic and sociopathic, with a tendency to cause the very worst of suffering if possible. This is shown in Archade's entertain, such as the execution of prisoners being made public for all to watch. Occasionally Vale himself will go to see one of these executions and may sometimes carry them out himself if he sees them as had been a worthy threat. Vale, since childhood, has been interested in literacy. The legend passed down from the dawns of time has especially caught his eye. Vale has some sort of obsession with this "Lost Nation" and "Scrolls of Old" though no proof of the legend being vaguely true exists. His mental state is extremely strong and one could say that his will is made of steel, being near impossible to break. He is extremely calm and collected and never panics or feels the need to be anxious. He does however at times, have low mental stability, as if another personality was present, times when he seems to not be himself and seems to be someone else, although this is becoming less and less frequent as he seems to have become this other person. History/Background: Vale was born into a family of Emperors whom have ruled over Archades for centuries. Those of the Lionward family had helped the recovery and salvation of Archades, making it the Nation it is today. Under the reign of Richus, the Nation prospered technologically, over taking all Nations in advancements and becoming the first to build and mass produce airships. Under the reign of Francis, Vale's father, the Nation prospered in military power, it's technology contributing to the weaponry and defensive machinery that now stand all over the Archades Nation. This family, whom have allowed Archades to enter a stage of salvation, is the family of Vale. After his father, he was destined to lead the Empire, as Emperor. Regardless of Vale's rich background, his life story has however been a tragic one. He was the only one, of four siblings, to be alive today; his siblings perishing at the hands of assassins. His mother committed suicide shortly after the death of Vale's siblings, leaving just Vale and his father. The fact alone that Francis was ruler over the Archades Empire made it almost impossible for him to give any attention to his son, though the unfortunate truth was that his father also suffered from a disease that ate away at his body, causing him to be less able. This in conjunction to being emperor, made it that Vale had only saw his father either at a speech or in his deathbed. Vale would often play outside the city limits, near what seemed to be an ancient ruin, a tomb of some sort. None dared to come close to the tomb due to the fiends whom roamed around there, however Vale himself did much training here and had grown to a level where he easily defeated this fiends. None knew that Vale had spent so many years visiting this place everyday, though it seemed that something in this place had drawn him to it. As the years went by, Vale began to spend longer and longer near these ruins, and the more time he spent, the more his personality began to change. Before the visits to the ruins, he'd have been a kind and friendly child, whom looked out for all, but with each and every visit, his personality shifted towards a much darker side. A sadistic and spiteful side. A side as if he was in search of revenge. Many of those whom worked closely with Vale as servants and cooks noticed this gradual change in personality and tried to help although to no avail. Eventually Vale began to stop going to the tomb and became obsessed with literacy. He read several books of legends and came to be particularly interested in a certain book. This book held theories and possible explanations of a particular piece of text, a text that none wouldn't recognise. He whom holds scrolls of old, beckons forth the powers of the ultimate from a Nation long lost'. This single line which endured the tests of time, passed down from generation to generation has been a source of great interest for Vale. Many had told Vale that it was only a legend and that none of it was true, though it didn't seem to get through to Vale, it seemed that Vale was different from other people, as if he knew something that others hadn't although there was nothing more he knew other than that single line of legends. It wasn't long before Vale had every piece of texture that mentioned or was related to the legend. Poetry, novels, songs, myths, plays, absolutely everything. It seemed that this obsession with this line was caused from something in early childhood, though no one could've guessed. Eventually Vale's father had come to being extremely ill and couldn't work for some time. Vale, during this time, took the role of temporary ruler. In this time he had an insight of the Nation's power and technology. This sense of power overwhelmed Vale, so much so that he wanted to keep the power, no matter what the costs. The doctors caring for his father told Vale that his father would recover if he took his medicine regularly. Vale seemed somewhat discomforted when told of this news, leaving the doctors confused and somewhat questioning Vale. It was shortly after this, Vale's father took a bad turn and died. The postmortem found nothing, no poison, no disease or no wounds. The doctors were all confused, having been sure that it'd have been almost impossible for Francis to die from something other than the disease he carried. Vale immediately took power, seemingly to have anticipated this sudden death although nothing could be found. Vale's first action was to invade Nam Yensa, basing his invasion on the grounds that they were the ones whom were responsible for the death of Francis. Propaganda and lies spread through Archades that Francis had been assassinated and the fact that he died of unknown causes was concealed by Vale. Vale went personally to invade Nam Yensa in his flagship, Valefar, flagship of the Archades First Imperial Division. The war was one sided and Nam Yensa's military crushed with little effort. The weaponry of the Archadians was second to none. While the Archadian military fought against the Nam Yensan's military, Vale infiltrated the castle standing in the centre of Nam Yensa, meeting face to face with Empress Ashton. Vale challenged her and her guards to a blade fight, though Ashton and her guards had little choice in the matter. Vale, single handedly took out all Ashton's royal guards and left her for the last. Instead of delivering a swift death, Vale instead wounded her to the point she couldn't move and captured her. She was transported back to Archades where Vale held an execution, charging her with the planned assassination of Emperor Francis of Archades. Although she denied all charges even before war was declared, the people of Archades refused to believe her and she was put to death by Vale personally in a public audience. After the death of Empress Ashton, Emperor Vale claimed the throne in Nam Yensa and converted all their people to slavery, forcing them to mass produce weapons and various other pieces of items Archades required. In the end, Nam Yensa became a Nation of ruins, only having work camps dotted about the Nation, where people are born and where they shall be worked to death. Currently, Vale is now leading Archades, which is now on a time of inactivity. It seems that Vale had other plans when taking over Nam Yensa, and it wasn't for revenge. Several excavation sites in Nam Yensa have been set up in secret and only those of the Archades first Division have any knowledge of such things. Character Battle Experience Ability(s): Black Magic - Vale has an unusual, in fact to be considered an extraordinary skill in black magic. Although his potential is yet to be realised, he has become able with several elemental spells as well as some much more arcane and secret spells. Speech of a Prophet The words Vale speaks inspire and motivate people. People believe his words without a doubt, and even if one knows what he says is a lie, they feel drawn to a conclusion that it may in fact be the truth. This ability is a variation of seduction or hypnotism. Words of the People Vale has a natural talent at saying what the people want to here. By even just a glance, he can foretell what they want to hear and say it to them. This has come to him as a vital skill in leading the Nations of Archades on the path he wishes. Weapon(s): Lionward (Desert Eagle) A Golden Desert Eagle with a marking of a dragon, the seal of the Lionward family. Many in the Imperial First Division have a variation produced from silver. In comparison to the Imperial First Division, the Golden Desert Eagle is only held by those of the royal family. This was previously possessed by Francis before he died and handed it down to Vale. It's reload time is much faster, the rate of fire has been significantly raised, the rate of jamming near 0% and the strength of each shot has been modified to outclass that of the First Division. Although, because of all these modifications, the recoil when firing a shot has been dramatically increased, making aim and ability to fire the weapon much more difficult. ![]() Murasame (Katana) Murasame is a legendary katana, used by a legendary warrior of Archades. Though more of this blade exist, this blade war the original used by the warrior of Archades. Vale managed to recover this katana when his father, Francis, had become Emperor. Francis had been informed of Vale's competence with katanas and bladed weapons thus ordered Vale to be in possession on it. Since then, this has been Vale's weapon of choice, Vale often using this katana in executions as well as killing Ashton, the Empress of Nam Yensa. In comparison to other katanas, the Murasame has a blade much longer than any other katana, extending several times more than a regular. The weight of this blade is extreme due to it's size but with experience, Vale has been able to master the katana and now wields it with one hand without any trouble. The Murasame is the main reason why Vale is able to withstand the Lionward's recoil. ![]() Black Arts (Cross) The Black Arts is a mysterious cross imbued with dark energy of ancient times. Although the magic imbued within the cross has faded with time, a substantial amount of energy still resides within the cross. Vale often uses this in conjunction with his Black Magic in order to amplify the effects of his magic to cause much more devastating affects. It is also believed that this cross has the power to place curses, although this drains the cross of much of it's energy, thus must be used only when absolutely crucial. Vale recovered this artifact when he was a child, playing near a strange tomb. This cross was at the pathway of the tomb and ever since Vale has found it, he has kept it as what one could call a good luck charm. Although this artifact has never brought any sort of luck to Vale, he seems to be extremely protective over it and at times, it seems that rather than Vale being in control of the cross, it's the cross that's in control of Vale.
