Creator of the ETP. Ha. But i do other stuff too.
In the year 500 CE, the Space Ark Nerva crashed into Earth. It had carried four sapient species from their dying homestar to a new system, a journey taking millions of years. But the launch vectors were thrown out of alignment by a type of virus which had survived for millions of years on the exhaust of the ship, and had become capable of using holographics, dark energy and temperature variables. They were the beings that held magic.

The crash destroyed the lead sapient lifeforms of the Ark, now only known as the Pilots. All four had their physical bodies destroyed, but survived in data form. The powers of the ship were theirs, so they could manifest themselves in holographic forms and use powerful tools and weapons of the like which only are to be discovered thousands of years from now- they became Gods. However, they only existed while their memory cores remained buried beneath Mount McKinley, two hundred metres down. Anyone who took the Core could command the Gods to do as he willed.

The second race survived the crash fairly well, and they were the Dragons. The new virus took to them, and they became greatly powerful at the use of the arcane. Their 'fire beams', particle weapons fired from the mouth, were retained while the rest of their technology and history became Forgotten.

The third sapient species was severely reduced in numbers- the Unicorns. They were infected by the virus, and became even more adept than the humans or dragons at its use.

The fourth race was the lizardmen, who promptly retreated into the rainforests of Central and South America as their civilisation collapsed to Aztec level.

And through a freak coincidence, the virus also infected the natives of Earth, the humans. Ever since the fall of the Roman Empire they had been subdued, but now with powerful magicians amongst them they became powerful beyond their dreams.

The virus was only released through airborne infection once, after that it could only be passed through two ways- by being born to a magician or eating the brain of a magician. It is rumoured that intercourse can also pass the virus.

The Ark did not only carry sapients, however. The native fauna of the aliens' homeworlds awoke, and devastated Earth's. Griffons, Rocs, Chimaerae and their ilk took over many of Earth's ecosystems.

The humans did not take kindly to the new arrivals. The Dragons and the Humans waged war for twenty years, during which time all but 12% of men and 3% of dragons were destroyed- back then, human archmages rivalled the unicorns for power.
But the survivors could not fight any longer, and peace returned. The humans went back to their forts in Europe, Africa and Asia. The Dragons set up strongholds in the Andes, Alps and Himalayas, depending on their race. The war meant that most of the history and knowledge of both species were lost- what was left was snatched up and jealously guarded by the archmages in their giant, magically crafted towers.

To alleviate the tension between the species, a new group was formed. They were the Dragon Riders, and enforced peace between both species. Only certain dragons were allowed to bond with selected humans- as the bond was for life. Should one die, the other would wither away with grief. But there were benefits- the Riders lived for thousands of years, and were physically stronger than normal humans. From their stock, the strongest of modern men arose.
The unicorns, despairing of peace, fled to Australia. It became shrouded in a magical field that meant it was invisible and unreachable to those who did not know where it was.

In the year 800 CE, after two hundred years of peace, disaster returned. The Pilots, who had been fighting amongst themselves this entire time, made peace. The 'evil' ones- Markath and Angrim- made peace with the 'good' ones, Ilith and Tellenor. Now, the drones and droids from the Ark no longer had to fight, and were released into the world in holographic form as Djinn and other spirits. The Men and Dragons fought against them, the ability of metal to subdue holographics coming in very useful. Each Spirit also existed thanks to a smaller, talisman-sized memory core. Whoever took one of these could control the respective spirit as he willed. The Alliance triumphed, at a high cost.
Markath and Angrim now came down, and created a race of Beasts at the North Pole, which would threaten the Alliance and so act as a trump card against the Good Gods. But the Good Gods appointed what was left of the spirits as the Alliance's protectors against the Beasts.

In the year 900 CE, The Beast managed to get past the spirits' defences and penetrated the Alliance's realms. A massive army of Humans, Dragons and spirits faced the Beasts and destroyed most of their horde at Siberia, and then erects the Great Walls of Canada and Russia to keep the Beasts back in the future.
Markath took the humans trapped behind the wall and made them into the cunning but short goblins, who he then let out into the Alliance's realms. The Goblin Wars begun, but Ilith then created the dwarves from human DNA and they forced the goblins back in short order.
At this time, humans colonised North America.

When 100 CE came, Markath began spreading chaos amongst the Alliance. The human kingdom divided into eight smaller ones, each vying for power. During the massive war which ensued, two smaller nations were destroyed. Humanity looked set to destroy itself, but Tellenor intervened and caused the Archmage Xeleth to be born. Xeleth brought about peace by single-handedly annihilating the army of the largest nation, then forcing the others to submit. However, the remaining kingdoms remained divided. Bandit states sprung up.
Goblins took this opportunity to attack, but were repelled by the dwarves.

In 1100 CE, The Dragon Civil War occurred. The Dark Dragons fought the Light Dragons for dominance, and the lights won only at great cost. The remaining Darks fled underground, where they allied with the Evil Gods. Together, they created many evil creatures such as the Giant Rockworms, Trolls and Giants.

It is now 1200 CE. Mining teams have discovered the location of the Core, but now have disappeared. War seems set to return again. What will you do?
