ooc: Yup, we'll let him edit when he next returns.

Sorry about the delay. I had a wedding last night :)

Atlanta:

Commander Jones settled into a high orbit around a class L planet in between the two locations. The ship was cloaked, of course, but it never hurt to be careful. He settled back, monitoring the open commlink.

Enterprise-D

Everyone made their way to their stations and quarters, settling into a routine. The ship was on its way to Farpoint station, and they had to make sure that they were known before the incident. So they ate in the messhall, spent recreation time in 10-forward, etc. Finally the day came. Rezit called them all to his quarters to discuss the plan.

"Ok," he said, after they'd all gathered. "Before I tell you the final plan, I'm open to any suggestions. We all know how this is supposed to transpire. Has anyone noticed anything that might be pertinent to how they'll react this time?"

France

The walked up the path and suddenly hear the sound of someone crying. They quickly ran to where it came from, to find a women and a young man standing in clearing. A short distance away was a house. As they approached, they could hear what was being said.

"Please, won't you think it over? You don't have to rush into this," she exclaimed over her tears.

"Mom!" the boy said, exasperated yet sensitive, "we went over this already. This is what I..."

"You!" the woman yelled, suddenly seeing the group standing there. "Tell me son that running off to Starfleet is a terrible idea. You tell him!"

Ginger looked at the handsome young man who would one day become one of Starfleet's most respected commanding officers. "He looks so young," she thought as the group closed on Picard and his mother.

"Pardon, Madamoiselle," said Ginger shyly. "Why would you say that? I thought that Starfleet only accepted the smartest and bravest of young people to serve. Surely if he is accepted, it could only be an honor to your family?" She met Jean-Luc's eyes and gazed into them for a moment, before blushing and looking away with a small smile, he hands on the hem of her short summer dress.

"You see, Mother?" Jean-Luc said gently, "you should be honored."

NPC: Mrs. Picard

This just brought her into another torrent of tears. "But you're so young!" she cried, directing the comment to her son, but obviously meaning for the other entourage to hear. "Go later, why now?"

"Because," he answered, glancing at the others, "this is the best time to do it. I can graduate and do my studies at the same time, and then go serve. Mother, it's ok."

She threw her arms around him, sniffing. "Just make sure to take care of yourself, you hear?" she said, attempting- and badly failing- a smile.

"I will, Mom." he promised, and she started back towards the house, still sniffing.

"Sorry you had to see that," he turned towards them. "She's never been very happy about my decision. My name is Jean-Luc Picard, by the way, what's yours?"

"Ginger," replied the ensign, taking the future captain's hand. Her first instinct was to grip it firmly, but she realized that she would probably be better served by being feminine, and instead took his hand demurely, dropping into a light curtsy. "We're students from America, studying Paresian architecture and planning. These vineyards are lovely, do they belong to your family?"

"Why yes, in fact," Picard replied, "I was supposed to inherit it when I grew up," he looked around- was that a look of regret on his face?- "but I guess my brother will now."

"Mr. Picard if I may ask, how long has this been in your family?" David asked. He nodded towards the buildings. "I have a small interest in Earth architect history. The buildings look.. I would say late 21st century or early 22ed century." David said

ooc: Please correct me if I'm wrong on this. Also, please see (and vote on) the post in "Suggestions." Thanks.

BIC: Picard stood tall. "That's correct. It's been our dynasty for over three hundred years. In fact," he looked around, and then stage-whispered conspiratorily(sp?), "We don't even have a replicator."

David gave low whistle. "Apart from the large cities and the areas unaffected by WWIII, I have never seen a house let a lone an entire vineyard in such condition. It's amazing." David said. "You have no replicators? That must be interesting." He added

ooc: If someone from the Enterprise wants to post, please do. Just quote Rezit's last post.
.
BIC: He smiled proudly. "Yeah, I know. We're very proud of it. That's one of the reasons why I want to join Starfleet, by the way, to make sure it- and all it represents- always are protected.

NPC Erica Ross
.
Ross had kept to the side this whole time, watching it unfold. Unlike Ginger, she wasn't as uncomfortable in her long dress as she always vouched for the skirt option on her Atlanta uniform. The whole 'stand back' concept was foreign to her, though, and as Noble and Duncan seemed to be handling it quite well, she kept to the side. As the conversation progressed, however, she starting becoming more and more certain that this was the wrong timeframe, and realized that they were wasting their time now. As Picard was engrossed in discussing his far with Lt. Duncan, she made a motion to Ginger that clearly said, "Get us out of this gracefully."

Ginger nodded at Ross. When Picard had finished speaking, she said "Well, I must say that if Starfleet is recruiting men like you, these vineyards, France, and all the world will be safe. Thanks for the conversation, Jean Luc. Perhaps we'll see you again some time, when you return to Earth as a captain!" Her eyes twinkled with mirth as she shook the now-smiling man's hand one more time, and followed Ross away from the farm.

"Well that was easy," she said when they were safely out of earshot. "So what now? Do you think the other team had as light a go of it as we did?"
