What Is Pure Pure: The Story of Ears and Tails?
It's a Visual Novel Eroge for the PC.

What to Expect:
2 Dog girls, 1 cat girl, 1 best friend, 1 imouto, and enough HHHHHNNNNNGGGGGHHHHH to kill you.

What to Expect (In Details)
A loyal dog girl who calls you Master, her little sister who ALSO calls you Master, and also loves clinging (to your face), a tsundere cat girl, a best friend who gets treated like a rag cloth but is okay with that, a little sister that cooks meals for you, and enough HHHHHNNNNNGGGGGHHHHH to kill you.

Single sentence that describes the game: A Roller Coaster

Patch Notes:
The PS2 version of the game was non-h(entai), but I have figured out how to make the game non-h (because you can literally play the game without it. The H-Scenes don't actually appear until Chapter 4, and Chapter 4 doesn't come until right before the game ends, so most of this game is rather non-H if you ask me), but I will not allow a non-hentai version, mainly because it would require time and effort to create it on the PC.

Why Translate Pure Pure?
It started when I first saw this image:

I had actually seen this back in 2005, but I was young back then and didn't even know what the hell a VN was. Eventually, I started to play VNs, starting with Utawarerumono.

Eventually, Wanko To Kurasou was being translated, so I played that as well and decided that I liked dog girl / cat girl kind of games. That's when I remembered the picture above, googled information on it and found out that the girl was Hinata from Pure Pure, and immediately managed to get a copy of the game.

I figured even though the game was 4 years old, I might as well try it. Using AGTH, I looked through the script and found it to be quite amusing. A cute dog girl that calls you Master? Hell Yes.

I was surprised that no one ever thought of translating this game, since the main heroine (Hinata, the red haired dog girl) seemed to be a popular character back in 2004. Every attempt to google "English patch for Pure Pure" or anything remotely related to it ended up in failure.

So, I decided I would teach myself. Begging people on the internet is useless, and since I'm taking up computer programming, I figured it would be a nice challenge to see how far I could go.

I googled information how people hack VNs and transform stuff into English, and before you know it, with the help of some people who were kind enough to teach me a few basic things from Mirrormoon, I'm now translating Pure Pure.

Story:
The world is the same as ours.
However, there is one thing that is different.
Some Dogs and Cats have obtained human bodies, while retaining their ears and tail.
These people are called "Mimikko" (Literally, Ear Child, Child of the Ears).

In this world, a young man named Jun Yuuki set out and went to a vocational training school to become a trimmer,
a person who treats Mimikko, dogs, and cats.
The dog Mimikko, Sachi and Hinata, and, his best friend, Takuya Midou.
Every day is spent living happily with his friends.

Before long, Jun falls in love with the Mimikko Sachi.
The two continue enjoying their days, and the trimmer's exam for Jun draws near before long.
For that, the two practice over and over to improve Jun's ability.
However, one day, a week before the examination.
Jun is told an important fact from Sachi.
What is that fact......?

Period of Time:
The game's story takes place in 2004. No, it's not a coincidence, the game really does take place in 2004. The dates of 2004 exactly match the dates of the CG images, so it's definite, and this game was released in 2004.

Pure Pure: The Story of Ears Technical FAQ

Q: So I was playing the intro patch, and the character's text bubbles are empty! What's wrong?
OR
Q: When I play the game, it crashes in the beginning! What's wrong?

A: You need to turn off text bubbles. Go into the menu and turn it off.

From the Menu Bar, go into System Options, then Text Bubbles, then check off. Example included below.

Q: So I got your patch, and the texts look fugly like the picture below! I'm sure you did something wrong, so fix it!

A: It's your fault, actually.

If you're running Windows XP, you need to install the East Asian Language Pack, and after you do that, you need to change your Unicode settings to Japanese.

Assuming you have East Asian Languages installed, To change your unicode settings to japanese:

1) Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options
2) Go to the advanced tab, then in the drop down box for Language for non-Unicode Settings, change it to Japanese.

If you're running Windows Vista (any version, I hope this can apply) Then you should be able to change the unicode settings like so (you don't need the language pack, I believe):

1) Click the Vista Orb, type "regional" into the box, and press enter. The regional and language options should come up.
2) Click the Administrative tab, and then, under Language for non-Unicode programs (System Locale), click Change system locale. If UAC comes up, put your password.
3) In the drop down box, change your locale to Japanese (Japan).

Q: So, I changed my non-unicode settings to Japanese, like you told me to do, but now when I try to run the game, I get an error! What did you do!?

A: You need to reinstall Pure Pure. If you installed Pure Pure in any other language setting besides Japanese, then the directory name is screwed over when you install.

After you change your non-unicode to Japanese, just uninstall Pure Pure then reinstall it. It should work after that.
