![]() NOTE: We are taking requests for smaller cities or islands, just PM a member of the RP Staff a name and short description, similar to what these have. -------------------------------- The continent of Antalya is divided into five main regions: -The plains of Sellasia, at the far south of the continent, home mainly to nomads, with a few mercenary cities. -The Sydoni Highlands, just north of the plains, at the 'center' of the continent, often known as the 'Heartlands' of Antalya, since it is the main Economic hub -The Taygethos Mountains the west of the highlands, a rather desolate region with only a few villages up in the mountains -The Dalmascos Lowlands, to the north of the highlands, home to many academies of magic, and other types. -The Brentesion Peninsula, off the east of the continent. It is the major seaport of Antalya, but unfortunately also prone to pirate attacks. --- There are a few noteworthy islands off the coast as well: -Gelatia, A mountainous island, home to the elusive manakete tribes. The manakete live mostly in the scattered forests in the valleys between mountains. -Aeolida, The pirate cove; Most of the island itself is all but uninhabitable, nothing but cliffs and stone flats, but there is a huge network of tunnels inside it, many of which have openings large enough to hold ships. Many forts have been built around any tunnels which lead to the surface, and the island's defences have never been breeched. On the far side, there is a large settlement, though it is often raided by the pirates. -Embracia, a relatively level, lightly forested island, home to an ancient order of knights, who call themselves simply the 'Second Order'. They have a large stone fortress in the center of the island. --- These are the largest mainland nations of Antalya. -Antemilos, The largest port on the Brentesion Peninsula, it is one of the largest cities on the continent. It has a huge market district in the center, surrounded by residential areas in all directions, except towards the sea, which is filled with warehouses and docks. The lords live in a castle above the city on the cliffs outside the walls, with a stone bridge connecting it to the city. -Skythia, The main mercenary hub in the Sellasian Plains. It isn't the largest of Antalya's cities, but the largest on the plains. It has no set lord, different sectors of the city are owned by the leaders of mercenary groups. The law can change drastically as you move between sectors, but all leaders have agreed to outlaw fighting within the city. -Tygetus, The main economic hub of Antalya, and the undisputed largest city. It sits in the center of the Sydoni Highlands, and many roads run through it from all directions. The city center is built around the magnificent palace which houses the lords of Tygetus, many of the wealthiest men and women on the continent. The market is directly below the palace, with streets shooting outwards like the spokes of a wheel. Due to even further expansion, there are new buildings popping up just outside the city walls. -Tengea, The religious center of the continent; it is positioned at the east end of the Dalmascos Lowlands. It is home to a temple or shrine of nearly every religion in existence. Well, every religion not shunned by society for being 'unholy'. -Phaecia, The exact opposite of Tengea. Sitting near the base of the Taygethos Mountains, near the border to the Highlands, this is the home to every religion shunned by common society. Whether it be devil worship, or requiring human sacrifices, all can be found here, along with the twisted ones who practice them. -Falerii, home to the famed Phaleroi Academy of Magic, the largest and most prestigious academy in existence. It is a gathering place for mages of all shapes and sizes, the streets lined with anything from shops selling magical trinkets to children, to huge alchemy shops that would make the average person flee in disgust. -Fournei Karseon, A large city in the Sydoni Highlands, it is home to a huge collection of orders of knights. It is also home to many blacksmiths, and almost any other type of craftsmen to provide weapons and armour for the knights. The city is dominated by the towering stone structures housing the knights, with smaller shops and smithies at their bases. --- Smaller towns and cities: -Amaclae, A few miles away from Antemilos, at the southernmost tip of the Brentesion Peninsula. It is a decent sized fishing village, fish being it's main source of economy, and it exports to much of Antalya. -Grevena, The only permanent settlement of the nomads in the Sellasian Plains. It is home to the leaders of the nomad tribes, though they often leave for extended periods of time. -Delmatia, One of the oldest of Antalya's cities, much of it is now in ruins. After the lords were assassinated a few decades ago, it fell into a state of chaos, which has only recently been resolved, leaving the city in a state of disrepair. -Epidarus, One of the few villages in the Taygethos Mountains. It is famous for being the only Taygethian village that has avoided all of the mountains' many natural disasters. -Seugmae, The closest village to the Moonshade Swamp. It's inhabitants are considered strange by the rest of the world, due to many minor mutations and birth defects caused by living constantly in the gasses of the swamp. -Thesiae, A large town in the Dalmascos Lowlands, only a few days walk from Falerii. It is infamous for the irrisponsibility of it's inhabitants, and more than half the population are avid drinkers, meaning there's at least one pub or tavern on every street. -Thraceia, A newly developed are of the Sydoni Highlands, It has grown rapidly, due to the numerous ore deposits found nearby. It is a major trading partner with the nearby Fournei Karseon, providing them with the ores needed to supply their knights with equipment. This has also made Thraceia quite wealthy, and it is a growing power in the world. -Atlancia, A moderate-sized village on the edge of Tegynmes. It is out of the worst of the desert's heat, but it is still the hottest city on the continent. It's inhabitants are darker-skinned than most, from their constant exposure to the sun. -Vukasin, A relatively large hunting village on the Highlands side of the Odhranat Woods. It makes much of it's income trading furs and meat, and sometimes lumber, with Tygetus to the south. It is also home to some of the most skilled bowmen(and women) on the continent, and many come to learn from them. --- Other noteworthy landmarks: -Mount Emnis, The tallest mountain in the Taygethos Mountain Range. There are rumors of dark creatures roaming its cliffs, and none have ever returned after attempting to climb to its top. -Dragonfang Cliffs, a set of cliffs dividing the Brentesion Peninsula from the highlands. They get their name from the huge pointed rocks jutting up out of the cliffs, said to resemble the fangs of a dragon. -Moonshade Swamp, a swamp off the north of the Dalmascos Lowlands. It is said to receive no light from the sun, only from the moon, though many scholars doubt that assumption. The gasses from the swamp are slightly hallucinogenic, and draw people into it. Inside the swamp, many dark creatures dwell, and some claim that the vegitation is more alive than they should be... -Icaria, An ancient ruin in the center of the Dalmascos Lowlands. It has been the targe of treasure hunters for years, but the traps, and undead guardians have taken the lives of all who've had the courage to venture inside so far. Researchers believe it is the last remnant of an ancient civilization, it has been hinted to in ancient texts that this may have once been the original home of the dragons. There are also believed to be many valuable, and magical, artifacts are hidden deep inside. -Tegynmes, A large, mostly uninhabited desert region at the far sout of the plains of Sellasia. The desert contains ruins that would attract countless treasure hunters, if not for the fact that the temperatures are so high in the center of the desert that it could melt a person's skin right off the bones. -Odhranat Woods, A huge forest along the border between the Highland and Lowlands. The edges are only lightly forested, making them a prime hunting ground, but if you don't stick to the trail when you get to the denser center, chances are you'll never find your way back out. ----------------------------------------- Credit goes to Marcia for the awesome map.
