General Forum Rules
---
1. Copyrighted material is not allowed! It is strictly forbidden to post, request, offer copies of, or suggest methods for illegally acquiring any copyrighted material without written permission from the original author and/or copyright owner. Violation of this rule will have the post deleted and your warning status increased. Further violations will mean a temporary or permanent ban from the FB Online forum at the discretion of the moderators. This applies to any and all Games Workshop publications, including but not limited to: Codices, Rule Books, Army Books, and White Dwarf. Specifically concerning Army Lists, posters may include the point costs for full units, but may not include individual costs or stat lines for models, equipment or upgrades. In addition, the copyrighted material rule also applies to descriptions/depictions of casting methods or other means of creating fraudulent copies of Games Workshop sprues and models, as well as to plasticard templates, e.g. rhinos and drop pods. This rule applies to other, similar vendors; such as Forge World, Privateer Press, etc. Links to authentic Games Workshop FAQs or rules on the GW site or any of its subsidiaries (e.g. Specialist Games) are allowed as long as those links comply with GW's own rules. 2. No flaming or trolling Flaming and trolling will not be tolerated. Flaming is verbally attacking another member and/or posting deliberately hostile and inflammatory threads or comments for the purpose of offending other members. Trolling and flamebaiting is the posting of useless comments for the purpose of provoking an angry response by upsetting and insulting other members and/or disrupting an ongoing discussion. Posts that are found to be flaming and/or trolling will be deleted and the poster banned. Members contacting other members for the purpose of flaming or trolling them by PM or e-mail will also be banned at the discretion of the moderators. 3. No spamming Spamming will not be tolerated. Spam is that which is largely nonsensical, irrelevant and/or superfluous to either the discussion at hand or the premise of FBO in general, i.e. that of a wargaming discussion site. Do not spam to raise your post-count or rank. You will be censured in public on the forums and/or by PM, your post will be edited and/or deleted at the discretion of the moderator, and you will receive an increase of your warning status. Failure to heed the warnings will lead to sanctions against you, including restrictions on your ability to post, or a temporary or permanent ban from the site. 4. Treat personal information as secret Real-life personal information is to be divulged only at the discretion or with the permission of the person to whom the information is relevant. Revealing another member's personal information without said individual's permission will mean a temporary or permanent ban from the FB Online forum at the discretion of the moderators. 5. Forum age rating is 13 FBO is meant to be a nice and friendly site with a PG to PG-13 rating. Be aware that the forum is frequented by members of all ages, nationalities, religions, and genders, and behave accordingly. We do not tolerate abuse or mockery toward other members or moderators, nor flaming or flame-baiting. Swearing is not allowed; though we have a language filter, this is not an excuse for you to swear. Bypassing the filter by use of alternative spelling is not tolerated and will have your post edited/removed and your warning status increased at the discretion of the moderators. 6. Links to other communities Links to other communities are allowed only in signatures. Links should use normal size text and may include a basic explanation of the site. For example, "Grapevine Gamers: Dallas area gaming site." Permission may be acquired from the forum administrator to post a link to another community, but this is rare. 7. No advertisement Please refrain from posting advertisements for websites, companies, and organisations which make profit through sales or donations. All improper ads will be removed at the discretion of the moderators. 8. English only The common language shared by our members is English and we expect all members to write their posts in English to facilitate communication and moderation, even if this is not their native language. Please note that there is a very limited number of threads exempted from this rule by prior arrangement with the moderator team; if you would like to start a thread in your native language, please contact the Moderator Team for further arrangements. All non-English threads started without permission will be deleted at the discretion of the moderators. Please also pay attention to proper spelling and punctuation, and be aware that the use of frequent line breaks makes your posts easier to read. If you have difficulties with spelling and grammar, use of a spell checker is advised. We do understand that not everyone is a native speaker of the English language, but this is no excuse for not availing yourself of the MS Word spell checker. Leet and other slang are forbidden. 9. Use the correct subforums Please post the right subjects in the right subforums. This is a simple premise and aids the moderators and members in quick and easy location of information. Threads that are not in the right areas will be summarily moved at the discretion of the moderators. 10. No bumping Please refrain from bumping your own thread to the top of the subforum by posting a reply to it with no real context only for the purpose of drawing attention to your thread. Elaborating on or adding to a previous post in a useful manner is of course allowed; if you feel your thread lacks replies this might be remedied by providing an interesting and thoughtful addition to your first post, but bumping will only annoy other members. Replies serving only to bump a thread will be deleted at the discretion of the moderators and the thread returned to its former position in the subforum. 11. Only one personal account One person, one account. You have full responsibility for the use of your personal account and will be held accountable for all misuse. Violation of forum rules allegedly committed by smaller siblings, best mates, your mother, etc., are not excusable and will be reprimanded according to the forum rules at the discretion of the moderators. In addition, multiple accounts for the same person are not allowed, and are viewed as a serious attempt to defraud the moderators. If you forget your password, want a new nickname, have posting problems, etc., please contact a Global Moderator or the administrator by PM. 12. Moderators rule The administrators, Global Moderators, and moderators are to be obeyed. Their decisions are final. If you feel you have been wronged by a moderator, contact another moderator or supervisor with your concern. If your conflict is not resolved, take it higher up. Moderators -> Global Moderators -> Administrator. Your appeal will be reviewed by the moderator team and you will be informed of their decision. Note that this is not a system we will allow to be abused. If you have broken the rules, then you have broken the rules. Trying to get another moderator to remove a reprimand that you have genuinely earned is regarded as an attempt to defraud the moderators and will be penalised at the discretion of the moderators. 13. Report violations If you come across a post that is violating the forum rules, do not argue with the offender yourself! Instead, please use the "report post" button; this will send an e-mail to the moderators in charge of the subforum in question, who can then deal properly with the issue at hand. If you feel the problem is so out of hand that it can't wait for the local moderator to check his e-mail inbox, then PM one of the Global Moderators online at the time, or the Administrator. 14. Images must be a maximum of 700 pixels wide Failure to abide by this rule may result in the image being changed to a link or, in the case of multiple images, the entire post being edited.
