Another child is killed by a pit bull, some kids were walking to school in Georgia and they were attacked by 3 pitbulls. One of those kids were killed and the other one was badly injured and is in critical condition.

Something need to be done about that breed of dogs.

ATLANTA - Charges have been upgraded for the man who owned the dogs that mauled two children walking to the bus Tuesday morning.

Channel 2's Audrey Washington learned that Cameron Tucker has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Logan Braatz. Syari Sanders, 5, was seriously injured in the dog attack.

Two children were attacked by a pit bull in Atlanta. One boy died and a girl survived the attack.

A judge set Tucker's bond at $70,000.

A neighbor detailed the moment neighbors rushed to save three children during the attack by a pit bull and border collie near Gideons Drive in southwest Atlanta.

"I run up on the girl. She had been mauled very badly,” said neighbor Angie Smith. "I ran to the baby and when I looked down at her, I knew there was nothing that I could do."

Shamonta Clayton, a neighbor to the children who were attacked, said he woke up this morning to screams and ran outside. He found a little girl who had been badly mauled.

“As I get to the end of the street, I see the child’s unconscious body laying in the middle of the street,” Clayton said.

He noticed another dog and followed it, finding children pinned on a porch in the back of an abandoned house.

“So I chased the dog away from the kids, and I noticed the second child, a little boy, his unconscious body laying down in the grass,” Clayton said.

The dog circled back to the child and Clayton said he chased the dog off with his gun.

“I picked the child’s body up because his mom couldn’t do nothing but sit there and just cry,” Clayton said.

The family of Logan Braatz released a statement saying:

"Logan was a wonderful little boy—energetic, happy, and full of joy. Logan simply made everyone around him a better person. Logan was a huge sports fan and loved the Atlanta Falcons and Georgia Bulldogs. He was described by his family as an “old soul” who even at the young age of 6 took care of everyone around him."

Logan's family also shared their well-wishes for Sanders "as she fights to recover from the injuries she also sustained in the attack."

The family also thanked law enforcement, children and adults who raced to help Logan and Syari.

The family has also established a donation website.

The childrens' schools released a statement regarding the attack:

“Atlanta Public Schools sent a crisis team to F.L. Stanton this morning to provide grief counseling for students and staff. Our deepest condolences go out to the family.”

ATLANTA - The owner of dogs accused of killing a 6-year-old boy and severely injuring a little girl made his first appearance in Fulton County court.

Cameron Tucker was taken into custody soon after the deadly attack Tuesday and charged with two counts of reckless conduct, which are misdemeanors.

Wednesday morning, a charge was upgraded to one count of involuntary manslaughter. Tucker was given a $70K bond with the conditions that he has no contact with witnesses, animals, victims or their families. He has another court date scheduled for February 1.

Cameron Tucker attends a first hearing for charges related to the death and injury of two children in a dog attack.

His lawyer Cinque Axam said Tucker lives in a home with his six-month-old daughter, his mother, fiance and her mother. Axam said Tucker has been fully cooperating with authorities.

"When all of this happened, he was looking for his dogs in the neighborhood," Axam said. He said Tucker identified himself to police as the dogs' owner and waited at home until they arrived to interview him, instead of going to work.

The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office could add additional charges.

“If a prosecutor is aggressive, they could charge him with cruelty to children in the second degree. And for any child that dies, bring it up to murder,” Page Pate, a local attorney said.

He said that the current reckless conduct charges could be the basis for an involuntary manslaughter charge. If prosecutors go with cruelty to children, a felony, that could lead to a second-degree murder charge, he said.

On Tuesday morning, witnesses say three dogs attacked while a group of children were walking to school. Six-year-old Logan Braatz was killed, five-year-old Syrai Sanders was seriously injured and a third child was treated and released.

Atlanta Police spokesperson Warren Pickard said the children were working to save each other. "We had some brave kids, some kids ran back to the scene to pull the dogs off the children that were injured," he said.

Neighbors also jumped into action to run off the dogs before police arrived. According to police, they shot one dog, took another in custody and a third got away.

Police and witnesses originally identified the dogs as several pit bulls. Wednesday Fulton County Animal Control clarified the dogs responsible for the attack are a pit bull mix, a border collie and an unidentified breed.

ATLANTA (AP) — In a story Jan. 17 about two dogs attacking children, The Associated Press erroneously reported the breed of dogs involved. The dogs were a pit bull mix and a border collie, not two pit bulls.

A corrected version of the story is below:

Owner arrested after dogs kill child in Atlanta

Police say they have arrested the owner of two dogs that killed one child and injured another in southwest Atlanta

ATLANTA (AP) — Police say they have arrested the owner of two dogs that killed one child and injured another in southwest Atlanta.

Atlanta Police Sgt. Warren Pickard says Cameron Tucker was arrested after the children were attacked while walking to a bus stop about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. Pickard says one of the dogs was shot by officers.

Atlanta Public Schools officials say the children attended F.L. Stanton Elementary School. The injured child is in stable condition at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

Neighbor Shamonte Clayton says he awoke to the sound of screams. He ran outside, saw one dog standing over a girl and eventually ran the dog off.

Pickard says a crisis team was sent to Stanton to provide grief counseling for students and staff.

Animal control officers say one dog was a pit bull mix and the other was a border collie.
