Martin Luther King Jr supported the boycott of the 1968 Olympics

Martin Luther King Jr was big on black athletes using their fame, to speak up and speak out against injustice done to blacks. He felt that athletes speaking up would have a great impact in the fight against injsutice.

Martin Luther King Jr supported the boycott of the 1968 Olympics. He praised the athletes that had the courage not to participate in those Olympics. He said that freedom always require a sacrifice.

He praised those athletes for using their fame and platform to fight against injustice done to blacks.




Dr. King praised and supported Muhammad Ali for not going to fight in Vietnam.





Dr. King encouraged baseball great Jackie Robinson to use his fame as an athlete to speak out against injustice done to blacks. Jackie Robinson became very active in the movement, speaking out against the mistreatment of blacks. When Dr. King and some of the protestors got arrested, Robin helped to raise money to get them out of jail. He also participated in many marches and protest.

Muhammad Ali was very vocal in speaking out against the mistreatment of blacks. King and Ali developed a close friendship.
