Arlington shooting reportedly due to selfieWilliam Axford Published 2:08 pm, Thursday, May 5, 2016 Photo: Arlington Police DepartmentA Monday shootout in Arlington that left one man dead and one woman hospitalized reportedly started from a selfie posted on Facebook.Ricci Bradden, 22, turned himself in to police after confessing to his Army supervisors that he shot his wife Quinisha Johnson in the ankle and killed another man, identified as Anthony Antell.Johnson told WFAA-TV that her husband of about three weeks was upset over a photo she posted online, leading him to visit her while she was working at Walgreens, 5600 New York Ave. She was reportedly surprised to see him since he's enlisted in the Army and was supposed to be at Fort Hood. "And I was trying to explain it to him, that I married you. You're all the attention that I needed," Johnson told the TV station. "And I could feel that he was getting mad, so I tried to walk off, and that's when I heard him pull the gun out."According to Bradden's arrest warrant, he fired his handgun twice at her feet, hitting her once in the ankle. Johnson then ran inside the Walgreens.Bradden ran to his truck afterward where he encountered Anthony 'T.J.' Antell, according to the warrant. Antell told Bradden to drop the gun. The arrest warrant states Bradden admitted to slapping the gun out of Antell's hand and then shooting him.Antell, 35, who served in the U.S. Marines in his 20s, was identified as a Good Samaritan by the Arlington Police Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene.Contrary to some media reports, Antell did not have a concealed weapons permit, said Lt. Christopher Cook of the Arlington Police Department. After shooting Antell, Bradden fled the scene, driving south on Interstate 35 to somewhere near Waxahachie, according to his arrest warrant. Bradden spoke by phone to three of his Army superiors, who advised him to turn himself in.
He turned himself in at a Texas Department of Public Safety station in Hill County, police said in a statement. Bradden is held on $515,000 bail in the Tarrant County Jail, according to online public records. He faces felony counts of murder and aggravated assault. Cook said Bradden originally was held on $500,000 bail but it was it increased by $15,000 due to an additional felony charge of aggravated assault of a family member. According to Antell's Facebook page, he was the owner of Crossfit Abattoir at 5500 South Cooper St. in Arlington. A viewing is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Thursday. A GoFundMe page started by Arlington gym owner Jake Mizell has raised $35,912 and been shared 9.5 thousand times since it was created Tuesday. "T.J. was a Husband, a father and a great coach," Mizell wrote. "He is survived by his wife Crystal, and their three children; the oldest Hayden, followed by Rilee and Liam." Memorial Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at St. John the Apostle United Methodist Church, 5450 Mansfield Road in Arlington.

Argument over Facebook picture led to Good Samaritan's death ARLINGTON, Texas -- Quinisha Johnson says she's is in a lot of pain both physically and emotionally, a day after her husband allegedly shot her in the leg and killed an armed Good Samaritan who tried to intervene in the domestic dispute. She told us by phone on Tuesday the situation began because of a picture she had posted on Facebook the night before. Johnson showed News 8 the picture. The selfie shows Johnson alone, leaning towards the camera. The picture is not so risqué that it needed cropping or editing to be appropriate for our website. Quinisha Johnson says this picture that she posted to Facebook led to a deadly altercation between her husband and a Good Samaritan who tried to intervene in a domestic dispute. (Photo: Courtesy - Quinisha Johnson)Her husband, 22-year-old Ricci Bradden, didn’t like it. He thought it was drawing too much attention.
But Johnson told us that Bradden later called her and apologized for losing his temper over the picture. The conversation ended with Bradden telling Johnson he loved her and to have a good day, she said.
Johnson went to work Monday morning at a Walgreens on New York Avenue in Arlington and didn't see missed calls and a text from Bradden until she picked up her phone around 11:30 a.m.She looked up and saw her husband, who is in the Army and stationed at Fort Hood, standing outside the Walgreens. She says she walked out and asked him why he was there and if the Army knew he left the base. Quinisha Johnson (Photo: Courtesy - Quinisha Johnson)"He was just saying I was tripping, and I wanted attention from other people and attention from my husband just wasn’t enough," Johnson told us. "And I was trying to explain it to him, that I married you. You’re all the attention that I needed. And I could feel that he was getting mad, so I tried to walk off, and that’s when I heard him pull the gun out."
She says her husband of less than two months, who she met at Duncanville High School in 2009, shot at her feet and missed. Johnson says her leg was hit as she ran into the store.Johnson told her coworkers to lock the doors as another shot rang out. Newly-released 911 recordings from police reveal customers were hysterical when they called to report two shootings at the Walgreens. "And you heard shots coming from inside the store?" you can hear a 911 dispatcher say. "Yes, I was at the drive thru -- oh, my goodness, I think I still hear them," a caller said. Anthony "T.J." Antell -- an Arlington crossfit gym owner, military veteran, and a father of three -- witnessed the dispute between Johnson and Bradden. He went to his car and retrieved a gun, confronted Bradden, and tried to make a citizen's arrest. T.J. Antell and his wife (GoFundMe) Inside, Johnson heard one more gunshot, followed by her high school sweetheart’s car speeding away.Bradden allegedly shot Antell and fled the scene. Antell died in the parking lot from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office. His wife witnessed his murder."He went into a protective mode," said Pastor Marc Lowrance, an Antell family spokesperson. "He's a father, protective by nature, and he thought he could help." Gun safety experts and conceal handgun instructors say every situation is different when it comes to someone intervening."We do a ton of the, "What Ifs." What if I'm out and this happens, what if I'm out and this happens," says Cassie Shockey, an instructor at Shoot Smart in Fort Worth. She says in general, if a gun owner ever feels hesitation or questions whether they can intervene successfully, it's best to avoid getting involved. That has always been her advice to the nearly 1,800 students she has helped during the past four years. "It's difficult to make those snap decisions. It's literally a decision that could cost you your life, so it's something that needs to be made cautiously," says Shockey. Johnson learned of the Good Samaritan's actions while she was in the hospital Monday. She said she is so sorry a stranger sacrificed his life trying to protect hers. The scene after a deadly shooting killed a Good Samaritan outside an Arlington Walgreens. (Photo: WFAA)She wants T.J. Antell’s family to know she is praying for them. "I just want to tell the family, I am truly sorry and I will never forget this man," Johnson said. "I will never stop praying for his family and I just hope they could forgive me or forgive me for him being in this situation."Johnson also sent us photos of her wrapped up leg on Tuesday. She's recovering from her injuries. "I’m OK. I’m just in a lot of pain right now," she said. "I’m just glad that I’m still here and I still got another chance." Ricci Bradden turned himself in in Hill County after he called his superiors at Fort Hood as he was driving down Interstate 35 and confessed to opening fire on his wife and then the man who tried to stop him.
Bradden faces a murder charge and an aggravated assault charge, as well as an emergency protective order to keep him away from his wife. He was transported to an Arlington jail Tuesday. He was then transferred to the Tarrant County Jail on Thursday. His bond was listed at a total of $515,000. Fort Hood officials confirm Bradden joined the Army in July 2015, and has been stationed at Fort Hood since January. Johnson told us she knew Bradden has demons and would get angry if things didn't go his way, but she never thought it would come to this. Now, she says she'll be filing for divorce.A GoFundMe page is now set up for Antell. Click here to contribute. Copyright 2016 WFAA

Marine Dies as Good Samaritan in Arlington Shooting: Police Suspected shooter later surrendered to DPS Troopers in Hillsboro, police say
By Ken Kalthoff
A Marine was shot and killed by an Army soldier while trying to intervene in a domestic shooting Monday in North Texas, according to Arlington police.
The shooting happened around 11:50 a.m. outside a Walgreens store on Green Oaks Boulevard at New York Aformevenue in Arlington.
Police identified the suspect as 22-year-old Ricci Chambless Bradden, a U.S. Army soldier at Fort Hood, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
The violence unfolded when Bradden went to see his wife, a Walgreens employee. According to the affidavit, the two got into an argument and Bradden shot his wife in the ankle.
Anthony Antell Jr., 35, saw the confrontation in the parking lot as his wife sat in their car. Police said Antell, a Marine, got out his gun and tried to stop Bradden from leaving, acting as a good Samaritan. "At that point, the suspect exits the vehicle, shoots the good Samaritan. The good Samaritan is pronounced deceased at the scene," said Arlington police Lt. Christopher Cook.
Police said Antell's wife watched him die. Friends said the couple have three children and that Antell owned a CrossFit gym in Arlington, where people gathered to grieve Monday evening.
"T.J. Antell lost his journey of life very suddenly today in a very heroic act of courage for the well-being of other people," said the family's pastor, Rev. Marc Lowrance of United Methodist Church in Arlington. "He went out of this world on top."
Neighbor Courtney Hill said she heard the gunfire in the Walgreens parking lot. "I frequent all these locations here and it is pretty shocking, I'll tell you that," Hill said.
Police are still investigating the circumstances of the shooting. Cook advised the public against trying to stop armed suspects.
"Any time that you can be the best witness you can be, we always recommend that," Cook said.
"Sometimes things turn out like this when you're trying to stop a bad guy."
Bradden surrendered at a Texas Department of Public Safety office in Hillsboro while on his way back to Fort Hood. According to the affidavit, Bradden's commanding officers urged him to surrender to civilian authorities Monday.
Bradden was brought back to Arlington Tuesday afternoon and is currently in Arlington City Jail with a bond set at $500,000.
Bradden's wife was recovering Monday evening at Medical Center Arlington. A friend said the couple had only been married a short time.
NBC 5's Holley Ford contributed to this report.

Retired Marine CrossFit Instructor Dad Shot Dead When He Heroically Pulled His Gun and Tried to Stop Walgreens GunmanMay. 3, 2016 9:59amCarly Hoilman A Texas man is facing murder charges after he confessed to shooting his wife and fatally shooting another man outside a South Arlington Walgreens Monday morning.
Ricci Bradden, 22, turned himself in at a Texas Department of Public Safety office after talking to his Army supervisors, the Dallas Morning News reported. Ricci Braden, 22. (Image Source: KXAS-TV)The man Bradden reportedly killed was later identified as 35-year-old Anthony “TJ” Antell Jr., a CrossFit gym owner and former Marine, according to KXAS-TV. Antell is believed to have confronted Bradden in the drugstore parking lot after witnessing an altercation between the suspect and his wife, Quinsha Johnson, who works at the Walgreens.Bradden had gotten angry at his wife outside the store and fired his handgun twice, striking Johnson the second time in the ankle, his arrest warrant stated. Antell, whose wife was in the store when the shooting happened, grabbed a gun from his car after a woman ran into the store, crying out for help, Arlington police spokesman Christopher Cook said. Anthony “TJ” Antell Jr. and his wife (Image via Facebook)According to Johnson, Bradden was supposed to be at Fort Hood. She later told police that she was not expecting her husband to show up to her work. The arrest warrant said that Bradden then ran to his vehicle after shooting at Johnson’s feet and that a man, later revealed to be Antell, then approached him and demanded that he drop his gun. Bradden admitted to slapping a gun out of the man’s hand and shooting him.
Witnesses told police that the suspect shot the father of three in the head. Image Source: KXAS-TVAfter the shooting, which happened around 11:30 a.m., Bradden fled the scene and headed south on Interstate 35, police said.
A relative later took Bradden to the DPS office where he turned himself in.According to Cook, it’s a subjective call as to what an armed bystander like Antell should do in this kind of situation. “Without having all the details, it would be inappropriate for me to speculate,” he said. Following Bradden’s confession Monday, police said Bradden will be transported from Hill County to Tarrant County after a court appearance.

I definitely advocate that in situations like this, a person should not play hero, unless they are willing to go all the way with intervening when lethal weapons are involved.

Bradden just shot somebody in broad daylight. He was not going to be detained by a private citizen. That young lady was on the news, the guilt is eating her up. She said, that this was not the first time hitting her, and if only she had called the police herself.
She doesn't know how to tell the family, she's sorry..
Bradden has some serious security issues. The military is going to be involved with this also. They interviewed some of those who worked with him, and said he was kinda obsessed with this girl.

Life is short, and if you want it to be sweet, you'd better be careful and stay focused on the meaningful things and leave the bullshit alone. The little things we do can have a profound effect on more lives than our own.
