He has a point that I'm sure is relevant somewhere. She's the first black to be awarded a PhD in Astrophysics in the schools' history, and she said she did it in spite of the bigotry and sexism I was ostracized by many of my classmates, one of whom went so far as to invite me to "do what I really came here to do" as he pushed all the dirty dishes from our meal in front of me to clean up. she encountered. She's not licking their boots, she's thumbing her nose. I'm not celebrating her getting in, I'm celebrating her exit, with PhD in hand. Edited by VoiceofReason, Dec 8 2015, 09:43 AM.

I feel ya, UTB. My 12 year old told me there's no use in competing academically because "the Asians are all over it, mom". Where did MY child get the message she's any different from those kids? We need to be "all over it". Edited by VoiceofReason, Dec 8 2015, 09:39 AM.
