I need for people to recognize that obesity plagues black men as well.
Statistics are there. Well...

There are two main issues that plague the black community.. Crime and obesity. One committed by men, the other, women. Obesity should be addressed, however how do you tell a 'grown ass woman' to stop eating so unhealthy? If she's eating unhealthy, what on earth, do you think, she's giving her kids? It's cheaper to buy a head of lettuce, a few tomatoes, couple of lemons, dash of pepper to make a salad, than buying a family pack of pork chops. I've heard, in my many committee meetings, black women say, well 'sugar' runs in my family..Type 1 maybe, but not type 2, is my response. They then say, it's the same thing That's when I tell them, I can't help them with my funds, my money they're seeking to continue feeding their kids, unhealthy foods. They are free to go pick any of the fruits/vegetables, we planted, most refuse, because that's like working.. Nevertheless, that issue can be dealt with, however the killing of each other, as done by black men, is at the top of the list. **cue excuses**
I'm saying this as a black man. Da white man is holding me down. Dats why I likes...I mean I have to rob and crack a few skulls. Anyway, my recommendation to our community. Two courses which are available for low cost or free. 1 - Health class. You'd learn surprisingly just many calories are packed in a 3 piece fried chicken, never mind a bucket. 2 - Economics 101 - Also available but may be a little costlier. I just don't think many understand how economies work, especially free market and capitalist systems. A little knowledge here helps to make better decisions, and who knows, save a few skulls.
Those are good suggestions, however, most of this, starts in the home. UTB has said for years on here, learn to grow your own food, or find a community garden, to get your produce and fruits. My brother(s) just started back fishing. Only in small lakes, non of that private ponds stuff.. I ate some white perch and bass, (fried), but fell in love.. Snide, as a whole, we must stop waiting for others to provide the 'right' stuff for us, and it's time for us, to start taking control over our environment and lives. This, for some reason, is like kryptonite to some black people. Oh, the crime excuse, extra prisons are being erected as we speak. That is, if you're lucky enough to make it there alive.. Many people would rather not subscribe to personal responsibility.
It is always much better for them to hold others responsible for what they should be doing themselves.
This mind-set seems to be passed down from one generation to the next.

'woe it's me', 'we used to be slaves', 'if they did this, then I could do that'
mentality, that is holding so many of them back. I couldn't, nor do I, like to use excuses as to why I haven't accomplished something. I sum it up to, heck I was to damn lazy, didn't put in the effort, didn't try hard enough, etc..but hardly ever, it's someone else's fault, for my failures.
It could well have been, the fault of someone else, however, I chose not to internalize it and become a victim of the rationale.
Type 2 is mainly related to diet, has and probably will continue to be. Diet is within our control, we control daily, what goes into our mouths.
Snide is the only one trying to give solutions, others want to deflect and blame, and not deal with the issue.

Snide is the only one trying to give solutions, others want to deflect and blame, and not deal with the issue. Type 2 diabetes is not all related to diet. I'm type 2 and my doctor and other conferring physicians drew the conclusion that the onset for me was due to my having a mild form of the Rickets when I was small. 50+ yrs later I began having problems with one foot, I was put on cortisone therapy regime before finally having to have surgery. prior to that I was no more then 10-15 # "over weight". During the Rx period I began to gain more weight although my diet had not changed. So their conclusion was the cortisone created the weight gain, and 5 yrs later I'm still trying to get rid of 50 lbs. A bad knee and arthritis has slowed me down in terms of an exercise regime. But I still eat healthy to avoid more excess weight gain.....age has a lot to do with it now due to the metabolism slow-down. I say this to say obesity is not the culprit in all cases. It's hard to believe that a childhood disease would take 50 years to surface in another form.

No one is suggesting that obesity doesn't affect black men, what we are saying is that it affects black women more. It's an issue that we must face. We must stop deflecting when someone brings up being over weight, and say, 'well others are overweight too'.. The focus is women, and their health. Just like you see the men immediately deflect from dealing with the crime, they just don't want to face, nor deal with it. At some point, the heads must emerge from the sand.. Actually like ive shown SEVERAL times the percentages are not too far from each other.

A fat black man with money will never have to worry about that. Low life and desperate women will forever run after him. What ddoes this have to do with a health concern?

Indeed. There is a good reason being fat or obese is ugly. And the tragedy is it can be addressed relatively easily. Realistically,
Vanity can't be an effective motivator to support a decision to lose weight that will stick. Which is why most overweight people fail to lose weight. The driving force behind the idea is totally false. If you think fat is ugly that's your business, but nobody is going to lose weight to appease your immaturity.

If vanity were an effective motivator it would have worked by now.
So moronic
