MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two men are in custody after Mt. Juliet police caught them attempting to take nearly $3,500 in merchandise from Walmart.
Officers arrived at the Walmart at 300 Pleasant Grove Road on Friday at around 1 p.m. and stopped the men as they tried to get away with the product.
Six video surveillance systems, one computer, one GoPro camera and 18 bottles of cologne were recovered from the car.
Loss prevention staff recognized the men from a theft the day before, when they placed more expensive items inside boxes of lower priced items. They purchased the items at the lower price and left. When loss prevention saw them return, they called police.
Police identified the men as 40-year-old Illya Johnson of Memphis and 19-year-old Thedius Bean of Chicago.
Johnson and Bean are in Wilson County Jail, both charged with theft of merchandise. Johnson is also charged with criminal impersonation
