Mom of Slain Chicago Boy Condemned for Spending Funeral Money on a Car The mother of Tyshawn Lee, the Chicago boy murdered last week, is defending her decision to buy a car. Social media users have accused Karla Lee of using money from the GoFundMe account set up to help with Tyshawn's funeral expenses. Karla Lee says her son would have wanted her to be safe and having a car helps, Fox32 reports. The mother reportedly posted several now deleted Instagram videos that defended using some of the money to buy the car, The Root reports. Tyshawn was shot and killed last week after police say the 9-year-old was lured into an alley. Edited by Can't Help It, Nov 9 2015, 06:03 PM.

I saw this, and had to keep it moving. It only shows, that some black people, are just plain heartless. In fact, the father now wants some of the money, that was raised. He's mad because it went to her, and no money was given to him. (it was because of him, that his son is dead) He tried to set up a GoFundMe page for monies, and they shut him down. This story is just plain, I don't know the words.. |

If she used the money for his funeral expenses first and had some left, I have no problem with it. |

Well guys, I think, that's part of the problem. No one wants to hold anyone accountable... There are people who donated, with the intent of assisting this family, who didn't have the funds to bury this child. You guys are saying to those people, thanks for the left over money, now it's mine, so I can do with it what I want. Which is the inner city mentality. A brand new car 2015, in the hood, for a mom, who didn't have custody, (grandmother did), who's afraid of now being a target, however has no plans to leave this crime area. With $12,000, she could relocate, however, a car was more important. Therefore next time, a tragedy happens to those in the hood, shouldn't they say, let the hood take care of it's own?? |

A donation is a donation. You can't dictate what folks are to do with the money. She could relocate, get a place she still wouldn't be able to afford after the money runs out and be back to square one. Zimmerman was giving a million dollars and no one said a word. (He was the killer) |

Ahh..so the issue is because another does it, then it's ok for you to do it?? This child isn't even in the ground yet, however, her thoughts are on a car? To those who gave money, you say, tough luck?? Zimmerman did kill someone..that we can agree on. How much money he received, I'll take you word for it. I willing to bet, those who donated and supported him, will say, do what you want with the remaining monies, however, according to the uproar from those who gave to this woman, not so much!! However, the deflection game, should not be in place here. Now the line is drawn, and people are saying, next time, let the hood take care of it's own. Is that the mentality, we want? |

That's the mentality because she is black. Zimmerman is a hoodrat too. When I put money in a donation bucket or in the hands of a pandhandler, I can't worry about whether or not he's going to buy something to drink. |

Rick, I'm sorry, that is not a black mentality. We are a diverse people, this is a hood mentality. I guess that where we differ. With my money, comes my mouth! I don't support, in what I deem, stupidity. I raise funds for causes, all year long. When you solicit funds from my committee, you will have to answer questions. This type of thing will only make it harder to gather support for the next cause. Son is not even in the ground yet, but her mind is on a car!! I'm glad I don't understand the mentality. |
