The REBEL
|
It's blasphemy. The epitome of human ignorance. And the fact that these ignorance based marriages last longest is what makes it so terrible. And why I CANNOT SEE IT. Edited by cisslybee2012, Oct 18 2015, 06:01 PM.

Maybe I should qualify that. If two families agree that they want their children to marry when they become adults but do not force the marriage, and the two adults to be wed agree, I have no problem with it. I met a woman who said hers was an arranged (Indian) marriage. She said it wasn't forced, but it was arranged for after they finished college. That's what she said. Of course, I have no idea if they were coerced or brainwashed. He became a doctor, and she a full-time mom. At the time I met her, she had been married more than 12 years.

In India about 80% of marriages are arranged and they have a 1% divorce rate. |
