Two men live-streamed their attempt to track down a man that they thought was sleeping with one of their girlfriends so that they could shoot him.

The men, Carlos Gonzalez and Damon Batson, streamed their attempt live on Periscope as they drove through the streets of California with a loaded gun and an agenda to shoot another man.

Despite discharging the gun and approaching the would-be victim’s home, no one from the Periscope live-stream called authorities.

After driving around in their car, they finally make it to the place that they expect to find their victim. They storm the stairs and knock on the door. No one answers so they peer through a window. They discover that no one is home.

Meanwhile, Periscope followers seem to encourage the men in their potentially deadly deed, giving “hearts” for the spectacle. However, when one user questions whether the gun in the video is real or not, the men fire a shot out of the vehicle window.

Not much common sense being exercised by the two, or the Periscope followers.

Truly, this case file was full of no bueno.

I'm all for criminals documenting themselves committing a crime. Excellent evidence to get them locked up for a good, long time.

But the followers did nothing? That's what is amazing. They couldn't all have been criminals themselves. And watching it for entertainment purposes? Deplorable.

Not really.

When in the commonplace, people follow and root for the defiant. In fact, if you really think about it, many if not most people who are law abiding are not law abiding because they really are but because they don't want to go to jail. Those law abiders would commit crimes if they could actually get away with it.

As for instance, you'd be surprised at how many law abiding citizens would rob a bank if they could get away with it with a guarantee of never being sort after or caught. Literally get with it scot free. So these people abide by the law but are living fenced behind their underlying feelings. Thus, in such a case, they would do nothing and root on somebody else whose bold enough to actually do something illegal. So you are right Truthie that it has to do with entertainment.

Along the line of thrills.

When you study and become more aware of human behavior, you would actually come to know and expect certain things. Consider for example, all those people who followed Jim Jones to a no man's land in isolation and then functioned at will as his slaves and even agreed to die with him. Jones was a bad guy to begin with and they all knew it and participated as a team in helping Jones to stage pranks to pull in new members. Strange, anyone would say, but not strange at all and this pattern can be identified and explained.

Yeah. It's called group think or mob mentality. And there are a few psychological terms used to describe the differing motivations.

Maybe I should have said "ridiculous".

This could be grounds for a new behavior science thread.
