When rap started out in the late 70's and the early 80's, it was clean and positive. It was started by poor black kids from the ghettos and housing projects of New York. Even though the first rappers came from that environment, their music was never destructive to black people.

1. None of those first rappers ever call black people niggers in their songs.

2. In the mid 80's rap music was still clean and respectful, and none of those rappers were calling black people niggers in their songs.

Kool Moe Dee, Dougie Fresh, Kurtis Blow, LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, Eric B and Rakim, Run DMC,
Grandmaster Flash, Public Enemy, Xclan, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Salt N Pepa, Heavy D and the Boyz, De La Soul, etc none of those rappers from the 80's called black people niggers in their songs.

But in 1989 came a rap group called Niggers With Attitudes (NWA) and they called black people niggers in all of their songs. Some of their songs became popular and then other rappers started calling black people niggers in their songs.

Not only did NWA create gangster rap, they were the first well known rappers that called black people niggers in their songs, and that negative trend has continued until today.

Also you didn't hear about the early rappers getting shot and killed, you didn't turn on the news and see rappers going to prison, like today. Rap is in total destruction mode today.

Rakim never used any curse words in his songs.
