How about how much money he has.. How tall he is.. how muscular he is.. how much he can make woman laugh.. How dominant he is.. How much he looks like he would be good in bed.. I would think Mr Black America should reflect real life in what makes a man valuable to women... Otherwise I think it may confuse young black men into thinking all them other characteristics matter to women... Especially in that age range of 17-24 Let me think about that... Heck no!
Can you think of attributes that would be considered uplifting and inspirational? Attributes a young man can aspire to perhaps?
And it would be for young men 17 to 24. So, most likely, he won't have that much money. And the prize could be a college scholarship.
I'm all for keeping the idea real, but surely Ron, you think we can do better than that.

Women 17-24 are simply not interested in all that other stuff listed... Like how he helps around his community...
Might as well, say Mr Black Congeniality, instead of Mr Black America..
And I'm not even trying to kill or derail the thread... Just being real..

It would not be a dating show, Ron. Not one of those The Bachelor or The Bachelorette.
It would be an opportunity to show off the best and brightest of our young men versus the stereotypes that dominate TV.

"If there was a beauty contest for Mr. Black America, what are the attributes we should look for??? What criteria? "
So I was going along those lines... Like A good looking contest for Mr Black America in other to incite those young and old people alike that are fans of black men

Yeah, I probably should not have said "beauty" pageant. But that's what we call them. The young women are always more than pretty. They're typically quite accomplished In addition to being considered attractive.

What qualities would you like Truthie, Plus 1, CHI, red, moon?
I'm not interested in any physical characteristics; tall, short, etc... Rather what are his gifts? Is he using them to make his environment a safer, cleaner, better, place to live? How does he respond to oppression, authority? I'd have a long list of questions to ask him! :-) His character and how he used it in the world would be what I'd look at.
Let's keep it real hun. All that quality stuff is nice but ahhh, just between me and you would you take home Quasimodo with all those wonderful qualities or the guy in the pic truthie posted? Well, I thought the thread was about Mr. Black America, not about "Who Would A Black Woman Take Home"? :-)

I'm not on the same page about it being a beauty contest!
If he's too pretty to look at it might distract him from being productive! :-)

Beauty pageants are childish and dumb.
I must agree with you. Outer beauty is temporary and trifling short.
Your posts, are such a breath of fresh-air. :-)
