Never claimed I did. You said we don't know the purpose. Now you've changed it to "most". Ok. No problem.

But most people do know the purpose of melanine - it's been researched - and as we've discussed it serves many functions.

I think it's most important purpose is to make the skin very, very attractive. :P

All I'm saying is that most people don't know the purpose melanin serves.

They don't. So what you're really saying is that most people think they know.

And I would say that even that is incorrect. Most people see melanin as a handicap or curse.

It's most important purpose isn't looks. :D
Ok. Probably true to an extent. A handicap or a curse? Well, some think so.

Nonetheless, I reserve my right to think melanine adds to the attractiveness of people. B-)

And I would say, if it has a function of more value than the first two I mentioned, I'd love to hear about it. (I'd love to brag about that.)

You wouldn't brag about it's true purpose. Because it's linked to something that most live in fierce denial of. So most would deny that purpose, not brag about it. The thing about life on earth is the fact it's roughness for us is based more on our preconceived ideas in what we think we know that's paired with our instinct to pretend that all is well when it isn't and all is bad when it isn't, than anything else.

And this is because the difference between our preconceived ideas and reality can only clash, and most of us don't even know what causes our preconceived ideas to form. So right now, people whose trying to teach higher truths to the masses are highlighting the need to see beyond the ordinary senses to grasp it. Or otherwise, it will be rejected as rubbish.

"...the need to see beyond the ordinary"
Reality or our usual preconceived notions or the clash?

I don't understand what you're asking.
