Anyways, before I leave Mas Que Nada, a few things.

The Black Eyed Peas released their hip hop flavored version several years ago. Below you can see them performing with the legendary Sergio Mendes.
This in a way kinda buttresses my point that the young artist today are familiar with all kinds of music even if their intended audiences are not.
I did post this a few years ago in case some missed it, more Mas Que Nada is a good thing.

Also, as popular as the Brasil 66 is, it's not the original. Below is the original. In fact when I first heard this song as a kid in Jamaica, it was another version.
Below is also released by the legendary Miriam Makeba.

Finally, I was jamming my best of brasil 66 cd in the car. As I pulled into the post office at lunch, this guy raced over and was elated to hear bossa nova music, the general style of music performed by the band.
Turns out this guy is a dj at the popular FM R&B station in town, 92.5. In fact he does drive time. Anyway we struck up a decent conversation and shared our similar love for this kind of music. In fact he wound up giving me a compilation cd for me to check out.
Will wonders never cease. :)

*pouting* 😤 I want a compilation CD. ;)
Be more than happy to send you one. B-)

Anyway :D

I must have played this album to death in my basement in 1979. Street Life seems to have cut across many genres, from disco to jazz to r&b.

...and within the last week I heard interviews with Keith David and Tommy Chong.
There is still a lot to be said for the spoken word B-)

Keith mentioned that it may be a term of endearment when a black fan greets him with a "you my nigga". He doesn't like it however. He just wasn't raised to address anyone that way, and doesn't expect to greeted that way.
He also seemed a very spiritual and a conscious black man. He mentioned rejecting a recent role because it projected a stereotype black man.

Tommy spoke of every thing to discovering the Jackson 5 around 1967 to being in prison for selling drug paraphernalia. He bunked with the "wolf of wall street" and a former Reagan aide.
By the way, he manage to mention that drug he was imprisoned on came from...not a republican, but but but Joe Biden, the dem.

Lot's of interesting stories from these 2 men.

Ciss....I thought you had a severe hearing deficit. Did you have surgery or get some of those fancy digital hearing devices. If so I'm glad for you.
