Having elements of both is not a new format. It is how is recorded that matters, one way or the other. Digital recordings via popular standards or this format you are calling new have always and will always have elements of both digital and analog. The sound in it's natural sound is analog and is often amplified and mixed in that state. In order to hear any music from any digital recordings it must be converted back to analog from digital. Any these are your only 2 states. |

...didn't mean new, I meant different like I said as in, a third option. Unless you think, there's no difference in hearing an audio track which is either -all digital -all analog -part digital/part analog |

This is great information. I knew there was analog & digital but I was questioning if any other type of technology could be used, different than the two mentioned. I guess we haven't invented it yet. There are people who say Analog recordings are still the best quality vs digital. This very topic became heated over the weekend at the center. :-) I enjoyed the debate and ended with the idea the human ear only has a certain amount of frequencies it can "hear". I learned m3p are recorded at different frequency in layers. Analog gets all of the sound recorded but our brains subconsciously "hear" it. And digital doesn't have as much "sound" per second. Oh my! This is information I really don't know anything about but it's fun learning about it. People, are passionate, about their music. :-) |

Well, kinda sorta. I'm guessing you had fans of analog (vinyl). Ultimately, it's what's most pleasing to you that matters. |
