It is too fattening. And my mother in law fries everything! Thankfully we don't eat her cooking too often. |

Today's cooking class we made ham & cheese pastry puffs with left over Easter Ham. I forgot to bring the recipe home so I'll share it later. The teacher informed us, we could also fill the pastry puffs with whipped cream for a nice dessert. The dough is bland so it's what you put inside of it, that matters. They were really good. Almost like a homemade ham & cheese hot pocket. |

Avoiding red meat, But Am Still in Need... of mucho Protein...so I Consider the White bean; 4 - cans of low-sodium chicken broth ($2.80) 1 - bag of premium (organic) White beans ($1.80) {keep pkg, don't discard!} 1- smoked Turkey leg or (preferably) thigh (< $2.25) 1 - small White onion ($0.40) Clean/pick the beans and dice onion. Then Add 3 cans of broth to large saucepan, bring to a boil, then add turkey thigh let it boil 5-7 minutes until frothy residue rises to the top. Use spoon or sifter to remove that and discard it. Then Shake a healthy-diet amount of lemon&pepper seasoning plus Celtic Sea Salt, into the saucepan. Add beans and onions then boil on low-med for the amount of time listed on the pkg. of beans. Add from the last can of broth, as needed, halfway through the cooking time. Feeds eight (8) with leftovers for flautas, the next day Edited by U Thant, Apr 23 2014, 02:55 AM.

This sounds succulently delicious. Have you considered hormone free red meat, or are you discarding it all together? What about wild game, say, deer or elk? I read once, that broccoli and carrots, eaten together, create a complete protein. Have you heard of it? |

Six scoops? How much water? I'd have the shakes if I drank that much caffeine. I love my coffee though. |

$0.40 yellow onion (use your own dose) $0.30 garlic clove (use your own dose) 1.6 lbs of ground turkey (< $3.50) 1 - container of bread crumbs ($1.29 - use 2/3 cups for recipe) 2 - eggs (first beat them in a cup then use only 70% of it, for recipe) 1 - cup of ketchup 2 - tbsp of lowsat olive-oil butter ...dice onion & garlic, then fry with butter for 5 minutes...remove and let sit 3-4 minutes to cool, don't use them hot. Shake a healthy-diet amt. of garlic&herb seasoning plus Mediterranean Herb seasoning in a bowl, then kneed in all ingredients (above) except use only 2/3 cups of the ketchup... ...get a 4X8 pan, then shape your meat into a meatloaf appearance. After you put it in the 4X8 pan then spread the last 1/3 cup of ketchup evenly over the top of yon loaf, and bake it @ 350 degrees for 65-75 minutes. Edited by U Thant, Apr 25 2014, 09:26 PM.

I start most days with a healthy breakfast and supplements: Magnesium and B12. Coffee makes me full for no good reason.

Pastry Puff Recipe 1/2 C Real Butter 1 C water 1/8 tsp salt 1 C All purpose flour 4 large eggs - Filling of choice (in class we diced up our leftover ham into tiny pieces and shredded sharp cheddar cheese) Oven at 400 Degrees Use a big heavy wooden spoon- In a heavy bottom sauce pan, boil water, salt & butter Add all the flour at once, stirring contestantly until it forms a ball & doesn't separate Remove from heat & let rest 10 mins Add eggs, one a time, beating it and mixing it into the dough until smooth (This is a wild upper body workout!) :-) Drop dough onto a nonstick (greased) cookie sheet by heaping Tablespoons, 3 inches apart Bake for 30-35 mins Cool on wire rack, cut top off & remove any soft dough, fill the pastry with choice and return the "cap." Enjoy! Other filling ideas: pudding, whipped cream, yogurt, ice cream, fruit, etc... |
