Thousands protest Zimmerman verdict as Justice Dept vows to restart hate crime inquiry

July 15, 2013 04:46

The Justice Department said Sunday that it will restart its investigation into last year’s killing to consider possible separate hate crime charges against George Zimmerman. The news follows huge public outcry and calls from civil rights leaders to reopen the inquiry.

"Experienced federal prosecutors will determine whether the evidence reveals a prosecutable violation of any of the limited federal criminal civil rights statutes within our jurisdiction...and whether federal prosecution is appropriate in accordance with the department's policy governing successive federal prosecution following a state trial,” a Justice Department spokesman said in a Sunday statement.

Massive “Justice for Trayvon” marches took place in New York City, Boston, San, Francisco, Los Angeles and other cities across America on Sunday. At least five people were arrested in New York, RT’s Marina Portnaya reported..."

Let's pray that inquiry = charges filed, sooner than later!

WhozThat...if they charge this racist, I'm never criticizing Obama, ever again.

And Remember too, if he's charged/convicted

..Haha...

...that's Fed time! Not state of FL penitentiary time if he'd been guilty, yesterday.

IOW

say he got convicted yesterday, got 10 years in prison...he can be out in 4.25 - 5.5, if the warden loves him, and props him up to parole board. But Fed Sentence is 85% time required. Meaning the earliest parole he could get is at 8.5 years...so, let us pray

I'll pray to that.

But....... Hate Crimes are even more difficult to prove without witnesses who bring it to light. Even more difficult to prove.

I think the consideration is merely posturing.

Hate crime charges won't stick. The family should take the O.J route and file a civil case.

Yes, a symbolic gesture. They'll go through with it and suffer another defeat.

You idiot, those are 2 different ordeals. US-DOJ prosecuting him, has nothing to do with a wrongful death lawsuit...they can file it after he's done, or------really stick it to him and have him going at the same time that he's going to Fed Court!!

...funny too...

You stayed hid for celebrating but now that Zimmerman has been pilfered by Eric Holder-----you come breaking out of hiding to protect your White kinfolk Zimmerman

...po' thang yo...

It'll fail for the same reason he was aquitted in the criminal trial. No one knows what happened between the time Zimmerman got out of the car and when the kid was shot. There are no witnesses

When Zimmerman pulled out his gun Trayvon started screaming for help. That's when he got shot. The screaming stopped after that.

You didn't go to Sanford and give your eyewitness testimony? You could have been the difference in the case
