That only fits the reality of the "woe is me, the man is holding me down" black.

Most privilege that exists in the 21st century is based on individual behavior. Some can be attributed to family wealth. Neither behavior or wealth are race related. Some claim that what is confused as "white privilege" by race baiters such as yourself is actually liberal privilege (link). Of course, liberalism can't succeed without an oppressed underclass to actively support their own oppression so, unwittingly or not, you are supporting it.

Come on U Thant - stop waiting for someone to carry you up the ladder. Take responsibility for your life and start climbing on your own!
This is a lie affinity, I have to disagree.

I am we'll skilled at my job, many recognitions under my belt. And multiple times i have been overlooked for the promotion I know I qualify for.

I was given the reason that because I has one written that hasn't dropped yet I cannot be promoted. Well upon investigating I find a co worker just got his promotion with 3.......I have 1.

Then I was told its because you cannot be promoted without transferring to another district. Yet I know many who have promote right here.......no email back from that

Then I was told I couldn't be promoted because my skills were in question....yet they promoted someone who they had to train....

All of these people were white........and finally a coworker pulled me to the side and said it was because they felt I was too opinionated. I spoke my mind......

Since when does speaking your mind keep from being promoted. If something is unfair.....then that's what the open door policy is for. I don't deal with favoritism and all those that were promoted were white and buddy buddy with my superiors

So I'm suppose to "yes suh" and bow down to mistreatment and unfairness?

So I went to HR....

We will see how it plays out.....I have moved for, city to city for this job and not once in my 4 years ever missed a day or called off, I never use PTO unless emergency. And I have nothing but positive recognition under my belt

So I believe that shit uthant posted
Going back and reading that shit I have some English problems. But I'm at a car show and this shit is typed by phone.

Not fixing it

Thanks for the first hand account Ether.

There's no disputing that many minorities who are overlooked for racial reasons. However, not all minorities who are overlooked are overlooked for racial reasons.

Accusing racism gets a lot more notice than, "the other guy was just as good", "the other guy had more experience", "the bosses nephew got the promotion", etc.

Does racism exist. Absolutely.

Is racism present every time it's brought up? Not hardly.

As for your situation, you could try to keep a positive attitude and apply yourself in such a ferocious manner that it's impossible for them to overlook you again, or quit.

I feel you.....but I strongly believe this is a race issue. Has shit to do with skill.....

It could also be just a favoritism thing. But either way, it's not fair. Cause I put in mean work there and have the paper trail to prove it.

But I'm not the only one, the others that are passed up are black as well.
Of you aren't brown nosing, dancing for the superiors then of are overlooked. Being black doesn't help....

Oh and as far as your advice to me, did that. That's where I am now....and why I'm hitting up resources. After months of over achieving and keeping notes of everything said and every interaction

I shouldn't have to quit and leave a job I have history at when there is clearly room for growth.

Do whites have to brown-nose and dance for the superiors to get promoted?

Don't just make empty claims with irrelevant examples and information. Address what I posted, directly. Don't attack it with generalizations, irrelevancies, & phantom premises.

Show where Dr. Jensen is wrong about America. Show where this guy is not posting about the way life is, in America. The Federal GOVT has stat after stat, to validate the reality of racial discrimination against Blacks. I just dedicated a niiiiice bit of proof in a thread, to reddgirl.

So, you gotta get real and you gotta get honest about honest about what really happens in AmeriKKKa. And point out where this guy is unreasonable.

I'll be waiting. If you ever decide to show that you do indeed, have respect for your own opinion.

Some do...yes

The real question is, if a black does not brown nose is on the same playing field as a white who does not

Ether,
You have to take what your co-worker said to you as a heads up. There could be something that he/she as heard about you and that's why you are not getting promoted.

It's not a matter of speaking your mind, it's how you come off while speaking your mind. Are you offering solutions with your opinions or are you just complaining? And you have to pick and chose your battles wisely.

Also you have to be aware of who you are sharing your opinions with. And one more advice, DO NOT TRUST H.R. Keep in mind their loyalty is to the company. And if an executive doesn't think you are good for the company in a particular position, then H.R. is going to side with the executive.

Could the open door policy be a way to get complainers to out themselves? You sound like you have a legitimate beef, but by mentioning it you are upsetting their utopia.

Reminds me of a comic strip in which a really big snowstorm was expected so the boss got on the intercom and announced, "All non-essential employees may leave early before the storm arrives."

The next frame was him looking out of his window with binoculars watching the employees leave thinking, "This is going to make the next round of lay offs a lot easier."
