By the 1990s, the mere mention of the name Compton had become so toxic that the nearby southern California suburbs had the city of 100,000 erased from their maps. Its schools were crumbling. Drugs were rampant, and street-gang tensions had escalated into what historian Josh Sides describes as "a brutal guerilla war." The city became the U.S. murder capital, per capita, surpassing Washington with one homicide for every 1,000 residents Two decades later, Compton has a new lease on life. The community is still poor, and unemployment is more than twice the national average. But the number of homicides is at a 25-year low, slashed in half from 2005. http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-279762 Prior to the 1992 Riot, when Caucasian skinheads threatened and actually entered South Central Los Angeles to indiscriminately maim or kill inner-city U.S. born Black men, women, and children it is the Crips and Bloods gang members who stepped up to the plate and not Black preachers, Black elected officials, the Black middleclass, etc. I'm not about to condemn all the gang members because some of these individuals had more sense, and courage to do the right thing than the so-called university educated but "pompous" Black middleclass, poverty pimping shake down artists and Black elected leadership. Compton and South Central Los Angeles have improved because of what Hispanics have done to make it safe and not from input from the Black community or any Black leaders. Former Los Angeles City Councilwoman Jan Perry helped to rid South Central Los Angeles of U.S. born Blacks, because she used her influence to enrich "Downtown" Los Angeles and not the 9th District, which helped Hispanics to prosper and not Blacks. The only predominately Black area left is the 8th Los Angeles City Council District, City Councilman Bernard Parks district, this being the most dangerous part of town in Los Angeles, higher crime rate, higher unemployment, etc., etc. I've actually seen construction crews composed of Hispanics in the City of Inglewood and the 9th District working on public works projects, street paving, etc., etc., with Black elected leaders and Black City Administrators large and in charge. There are Black people who have expertise in all forms of Construction work, but unfortunately here again, our own elected Black leaders have been selling out. I've seen the major demographic shifts and/or know of close family members, long time family friends, have actually witnessed deceit on the part of Congresswoman Maxine "Kerosene" Waters, 2nd District Supervisor Yvonne "Brentwood" Burke, Rod Wright, Lou Byrd, other elected Black leaders, numerous no good poverty pimping Black preachers, and I'm not the only one who is aware of this activity. Since U.S. born Blacks have been large and in charge as elected officials, City Administrators, School Board Members, etc., corruption, graft, incompetence, and disregard for the citizens of the City of Inglewood and Unified School District has resulted in the City of Inglewood and the Inglewood Unified School District going bankrupt, facing State take overs, etc. At least 50% of the population of Inglewood, CA is now Hispanic, many being Hispanic illegal aliens. U.S. born blacks are running from Inglewood too, and the days of Inglewood, CA, having predominately Black elected officials, or Inglewood Unified School board members are numbered. Illegal aliens, who are predominately Hispanic, are not taking over West Los Angeles, Korea Town, China Town, any Filipino community, the City of Glendale, any Jewish community, etc., etc. The Black community is the weakest link, because our own elected Black leaders and the Black community have not been looking out for the Black community. Similar activity is taking place in Detroit, MI, Baltimore, MD, Atlanta, GA, New Orleans, LA, Oakland, CA, etc., etc., etc., because of the failure of the Black community to holds its' own. I'm from Baltimore, MD and keep in contact with relatives who live in Baltimore, MD who keep me informed. I also have relatives in Detroit, MI, and have been to Detroit, MI, and it wouldn't take long to get the drift as to who is truly responsible for ruining Detroit, and the culprits are not low level street thugs or gang members. Finally, even if it is suspected that you did it, in a criminal case it must be proven beyond all doubt that you in fact committed the offense....i.e., without proof the City, County, State, or Federal jurisdiction do not have a legitimate claim against you.
