This is an excerpt from an article I'm reading. This reveals how far we have descended. It's the sort of thing we used say about the old soviet union, and now look where we are.

All I can is he better watch his back cause Obama has gone after more whistleblowers than all prior presidents combined.

Quote:

Greenwald recounts what has happened in the past weeks, as Snowden made the decision to blow the whistle on the secret surveillance programs.

On May 20, he boarded a flight to Hong Kong, where he has remained ever since. He chose the city because “they have a spirited commitment to free speech and the right of political dissent”, and because he believed that it was one of the few places in the world that both could and would resist the dictates of the US government.

In the three weeks since he arrived, he has been ensconced in a hotel room. “I’ve left the room maybe a total of three times during my entire stay,” he said. It is a plush hotel and, what with eating meals in his room too, he has run up big bills.

He is deeply worried about being spied on. He lines the door of his hotel room with pillows to prevent eavesdropping. He puts a large red hood over his head and laptop when entering his passwords to prevent any hidden cameras from detecting them…

Snowden happens to be acutely aware that his disclosures have instantly made him a target. He recognizes he could be the subject of extradition proceedings. The Chinese government could possibly disappear him for a period so he could be questioned. Or, he could find himself snatched and taken back to the US by government agents. ”They could pay off the Triads,” he told Greenwald.

They have to lie. It's required when dealing with Classified info.

What kills me is it had to come via the UK. It's a shame that we can't get any real reporting from our information sources.

It seems to me that the US news agencies are now turning on the Whistleblower - making him the story - instead of the misuse of the technology and our loss of privacy. Not to mention Constitutional dictates.

Why are some people upset with him he hasn't given out any information, all he said was that he didn't feel like it was right for the CIA to record anybody that they want to. It's not like he's naming names.

Our media has become entirely useless. It was bad under bush and worse under bo. That's why Greenwald does his reporting through the UK. US media refuse to do their job. All they offer is fluff to keep the rabble confused and ignorant.
