Hmm...

TriHealth spokesman Jeff Stewart said no employees were fired.

He said letters were sent out last week to 150 employees stating that they need to get the flu shot by Dec. 3 -- the official start of the flu season.

Officials said that since that notice, 82 employees have either received the shot or provided a valid reason why they couldn't get the shot.

Stewart said those reasons are either based on religious beliefs or are health related, such as allergies to the flu vaccine.

TriHealth said 59 of the remaining 68 employees are optional, meaning they are agency employees who work with the company on a temporary basis.

Administrators said those workers still need to receive the flu shot or provide a valid reason not to.

Stewart said nine other workers still need to get the shot or provide a reason by Dec. 3.

Officials said any employee who completes the approved paperwork to skip the shot must wear a mask when working around patients.

That's why as a patient, I want to be protected.
Truthie, in order to be protected the employees in a HC setting must have the shot. Can't have it both ways. They chose to work in that environment so it's just a part of their responsibility to comply.

Years ago when I worked in a General Hospital I asked the House Nurse for a Gamma Globulin shot because I had 3 children the youngest was 4 at the time. We had a patient with a severe infection(UO) and they couldn't identify it. My request was refused so I told them to call me when they had a definite diagnosis on the patient but for now I was going home. A doctor came in making rounds and overheard our debate and ordered the shot. His take, I had just as much right to protect myself and family as the patient had.
